Is it an Irish name?

Yes, itโ€™s just kind of jarring the way she says it. Presumably it didnโ€™t bother the fella if he didnโ€™t correct her so shouldnโ€™t be bothering me.

Banjas · 23/09/2026 21:02

Yes Cathal is an Irish name.
Pronounced something like Ka ( as in Ford Ka ) hill. Ka hill

Bzr · 23/09/2026 21:03

A 2 bed in Leyton. They really did show the nicest shots they could have Leyton. I was there today, itโ€™s not so great

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/09/2026 21:13

I just find it weird buying a flat when want kids and not to move

yet they will end up moving and spending all that money on stamp duty etc again

I agree. They should have just bitten the bullet and moved out of central London straight away imho.

BluebellBeth · 23/09/2026 22:19

I was confused as abbi mentioned a property 4?

Property 4 was the wavy balcony one, you probably missed property 3, which she pulled a face at as soon as she saw the inside needed work, and didnโ€™t view further.

They never had enough for what they wanted. I am surprised they did as well as they did.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/09/2026 09:27

It is all about location and area and seems crazy to me to pay half million for the two bedroom flat or even in the ladies case 420,000 for a one bedroom flat

I live in the SOUTHEAST and property can be expensive, but you can get a three bedroom semi for around 400 425 along my road

Lexibletheflexible · 24/09/2026 10:05

It's the amenities and services in the area, though. Especially for the woman who uses a wheelchair.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/09/2026 11:59

True and safety for her

tho the other one with amazing balcony was ยฃ35k cheaper

The place the couple bought is hardly a family home, fit for two or maybe three children. They should have bought further out of London. They could have had a three bed family home further out.

Wowthatwasabigstep · 25/09/2026 10:53

I am watching/listening to this whilst painting and am muttering at K&P โ€˜negotiationโ€™ skills or lack thereof.

So Philโ€™s buyer - the Vendors had an offer of ยฃ420k from somebody who could not complete for 6 months +, so not a strong proceedable position but rather than using Abbieโ€™s strong position - mortgage agreed and proceedable they negotiate for her to pay ยฃ20k more rather than stress her position and stick firm on the ยฃ400k.

On the property with the shared garden, why did they not entertain the idea of approaching the other flat with the shared garden to see if they would like to sell their share of the garden? Probably a no but worth a conversation at least.

Kirstie, is always very poor at negotiations but managed to erode their first time buyer stamp duty exemption by breaching the ยฃ500k ceiling and they paid more albeit they loved the property.
They will be paying even more stamp duty in a few years time when they are desperate for more space, have a couple of children and move again.

Somebody really needs to correct Kirstie on her pronunciation as well, it is really not that hard.

A lot of people want to keep London amenities though. Most of my friends who have moved out have admitted theyve compromised on amenities, services and work opportunities to have a bigger home. Not all have thought the swap worth it.

But your commute to centrai, daily? If it saves them an hour or 2 every day, each, and they prefer the area, it justifies it for some.

In the docklands area? What amenities are we talking about, it's dull as ditchwater and empty at weekends.

Public Transport for one.

And thatโ€™s different to anywhere else near a tube station? Is DLR better for wheelchair users vs tubes? Makes some sense if so.

It's newer so more likely to be built with disabled people at least somewhere in their thoughts.

LlynTegid · 26/09/2026 11:26

Series 46?

What do Kirsty and Phil know about someone at Channel 4.

Sooner the show that inflates property prices and locks some people out of their own home ends the better. Might be entertaining to watch them but the impact as with other 'property porn' programmes is real.

Who was locked out of their own home?

Feel like this is another season of location thatโ€™ll be mysteriously absent from the channel 4 app in a few years; advising people to invest in London flats at the moment is wild.

2008 crash series is still missing after they put most of the buyers into negative equity.

I thought the flat market was, ummmm, quite flat in London? Why was this episode making them out to be hot property? Very confusing.

I notice service charges were never mention in Abbi's search. Rather pertinent really, but ignored for the viewer.
