We're well into Spring 2026 now. CORONATION STREET THREAD. **No spoilers please.**

Can't believe we're on a new thread already. Filling up so fast these days!

Brief summary:

Todd has finally left the dreadful Theo, (after he badly beat up Todd,) but Theo is not keen on leaving him alone (although he has been told to by the police.)

Carla and Lisa (Swain) are planning on getting married very shortly.

Carl has been trying to extort money out of Summer for information, as he knows Theo killed Billy. (Summer knows this now too as Theo cornered her in the shop and told her as much, threatening to 'bury her too.') Summer is - very sensibly - not giving Carl a penny until Theo is arrested!

The ghastly Megan (Trainer) seems to have vanished, so Sam is relatively safe for now, but Sam has been having hallucinations and keeps seeing Will there - coming at him - when Will is nowhere near. Toyah, Leanne, and Eva have tricked Megan into meeting her (by sending a text from the burner phone Megan gave Will, and pretending to be Will...) Not sure what they're going to do when they meet her!

Ben Driscoll has just found out the man he knew as dad is not his bio father, and Jim McDonald is actually his father (so he is.)

The effervescent Debbie is declining a little bit more by the week, but is still in fighting spirit, and is seeing Carl for the parasite he really is. The gorgeous Ronnie is always by her side. Carl has just decided to cause a flood in Debbie's hotel by leaving the taps running in one of the rooms, after she told him he was very difficult to love, and refused to let him have half the hotel after he threatened to report Ronnie to the police for hitting him.

Shona's annoying sister Jodie is causing trouble all over the place! She's stolen Lisa's police badge, and a girl she uses to be a nanny for has turned up. Jodie is not happy about this!

Probably a bit more is happening, but I'm sure it will come up soon.

All we have learned from Summer's diabetes is that every event is a drama. Half the street knew about her last hypo and asked her about it.

If they showed her dealing with her diabetes as if she was David making and drinking a cup of tea it would be a tad more realistic. Yes, there are challenges and some things take a bit more dealing with than others but she doesn't seem to have the condition unless a drama needs to be made out of it.

I agree about the problems with it all being plot and issue related now. I am watching Classic and it's by no means perfect but the main focus is on genuine issues in relationships, and those relationships are believable and interesting to watch. Nowadays everything is crime related and involves characters we barely know like Jodie. Her banging on about thugs and secrets is almost a re-write of Becky's (transparent) lies to Swain.

I've work with ABI* patients, and think Shona's portrayal is quite realistic actually. I had one guy who seemed absolutely fine some days, and other days forgot how to make a cup of tea. Sometimes he'd remember things, sometimes he wouldn't.

In fairness to Corrie these plots can only ever really trigger conversations so input from people who know the subject is welcome

I've had a serious head injury and recovered, so I know it happens. But on Corrie they show extreme symptoms and then it all drops out of history and is forgotten. It's the same with all injuries and illnesses, it'll be the same with Harper, once she's gone through whatever Jodie has in store she'll be in the kiddie cupboard for years.

Dies anyone know what's happened/happening to the Maureen Lipman character Evelyn? Is she another one who has been forgotten?

Yes she's 'at university' and now an occasional recurring character. I doubt she'll be back any time soon as Maureen Lipman was recently publicising this new stage play she's appearing in

Oh I knew about her uni course etc but it seems she was a fairly pointless character. 🫤

I agree about the brain injury. She refers to it, and her personality change, every so often. She lacks a filter and just tells the truth, which can be quite common.
Likewise, I think the diabetes is mentioned every so often, while doing mundane things, and as mentioned, David did have an epileptic episode quite recently.

What on earth was the point in Jodie letting herself into Ken's house? Knowing he would only be a short while away? (And hour or two...) It's not like he was going away for 3 weeks.

What on earth is the point of Jodie actually? One of the most pointless characters ever. And like some other posters, I am really disliking Shona too. The fact she doesn't believe David - her HUSBAND - just beggars belief. And as a poster said further back, why doesn't Sarah speak up about what Jodie said - throwing David's awful rape in his face. Have they forgotten that this scene happened?!

Looks like Daniel hasn't gone away anywhere then? Just sitting in his flat, drowning in booze, as they all do in soaps when a crisis hits.

Hopefully that’s the last we’ll see of Will. Although Megan will clearly run off with the money never to be seen again.

Jodie has arrived to mind Ken since Cassie has not been seen for months? Poor Will is not going to have a good summer and his Olympic dreams won't come true. The only potential girlfriend for him is Hope.

I was hoping that Bertie would pressure his dad into a view of the lakes by phone and so on and he’d have to fess up. You can’t get away with hiding for long these days with tech and people wanting a look at your hotel room.

My mum was like that too. I used to get really frustrated with her, cross sometimes, because she’d do such stupid things sometimes. I didn’t realise what it was at the time. I wish I could go back in time now. The doctors never really explained it for years.

Did Jodie steal a key? Perhaps she thinks she’ll camp out at Daniel’s while he’s on holiday….?
