Can't believe we're on a new thread already. Filling up so fast these days!

Brief summary:

Todd has finally left the dreadful Theo, (after he badly beat up Todd,) but Theo is not keen on leaving him alone (although he has been told to by the police.)

Carla and Lisa (Swain) are planning on getting married very shortly.

Carl has been trying to extort money out of Summer for information, as he knows Theo killed Billy. (Summer knows this now too as Theo cornered her in the shop and told her as much, threatening to 'bury her too.') Summer is - very sensibly - not giving Carl a penny until Theo is arrested!

The ghastly Megan (Trainer) seems to have vanished, so Sam is relatively safe for now, but Sam has been having hallucinations and keeps seeing Will there - coming at him - when Will is nowhere near. Toyah, Leanne, and Eva have tricked Megan into meeting her (by sending a text from the burner phone Megan gave Will, and pretending to be Will...) Not sure what they're going to do when they meet her!

Ben Driscoll has just found out the man he knew as dad is not his bio father, and Jim McDonald is actually his father (so he is.)

The effervescent Debbie is declining a little bit more by the week, but is still in fighting spirit, and is seeing Carl for the parasite he really is. The gorgeous Ronnie is always by her side. Carl has just decided to cause a flood in Debbie's hotel by leaving the taps running in one of the rooms, after she told him he was very difficult to love, and refused to let him have half the hotel after he threatened to report Ronnie to the police for hitting him.

Shona's annoying sister Jodie is causing trouble all over the place! She's stolen Lisa's police badge, and a girl she uses to be a nanny for has turned up. Jodie is not happy about this!

Probably a bit more is happening, but I'm sure it will come up soon. Smile

Sarah witnessed that vile rape comment too, why isn't she backing David up? X

I didn’t like the way she didn’t believe him and sided with Jodie who she barely knows, she has known her brother most of her life

daysofpearlyspencer · 10/05/2026 12:29

Has there ever been an explanation of how Shona can remember she had a sister but can't remember marrying David? I thought they said the memory loss was permanent.

bizzey · 10/05/2026 12:50

What happened to their dad who was in a care home/hospital?

Did it conclude in any way ?

Or just fizzle out like all their storylines ?

Or ...did I just zone out and miss it ...which is a very high probability !!

the80sweregreat · 10/05/2026 13:05

Oh yes, Jodie’s dad. A bit like Bernie and Mal , it did fizzle out didn’t it.

The Jodie story is like a rehash of Becky and the bad people will hurt everyone story. Equally as boring.

At least we saw these bad guys, even it if was only a brief encounter.

Shona originally told Jodie to get lost as she was endangering the family but now she seems to be sticking around

Edited

I didn't understand anything about Shona's dad. Jodie looked shifty as usual so I was expecting it all to become clearer over time. It didn't.

Nowadays in soaps, people just come in with no story and no link to previous characters. I know we have Shona and Jodie, Leanne and Eva but apart from that, there’s no chemistry with us, the viewer if that makes sense. They’re just plonked in with no explanation to who they are and the storylines they’ve been given make no sense

the80sweregreat · 10/05/2026 16:30

Where does Jodie go when she disappears? At least they showed Meghan in a new place. Jodie seems to just live over the park!

Those comments were so weird and unnecessary.

Shona’s brain injury as per has never been mentioned since like it never happened ! Totally bonkers! I dislike her character she’s quite hard faced and totally unsuited to David. The Harper story seems to have run its course already like the quads is just mentioned for filler.

Shellingbynight · 11/05/2026 08:20

The Harper storyline will resurface when she comes out of hospital and Jodie kidnaps her (inevitable!)

Nick's brain injury is never mentioned either.

the80sweregreat · 11/05/2026 08:40

Shona has memory loss then ? I didn’t know this, but she remembered the dog and that started Jodie off again by finding the picture she sent her as a child.

Shellingbynight · 11/05/2026 08:46

One of the Shona actress's maternity exits was her having an accident causing a head injury, needing lengthy rehab away from Weatherfield. When she returned she behaved like a scatty 14 year old, said inappropriate things, didn't remember marrying David. They kept that up for a while then forgot about it!

Nick also had a head injury years ago which was David's fault (car accident) and he had rages for a while.

the80sweregreat · 11/05/2026 08:51

Shona seems fine now. I can’t bear her character though. Or Jodie.

Ellenanora7 · 11/05/2026 09:05

I used to really like Shona but now I agree with you all, she's been really unpleasant, I actually thought she was Jodie's mother for a long time but I suppose the age gap wouldn't support that.

What happened to Clayton Shona's son, is he still in prison?

I remember years ago Summer's very well off Granny wanted to get custody of her but once that was over I don't think Granny was ever mentioned again.

JewelleryCat · 11/05/2026 09:42

Is David’s epilepsy ever mentioned? Seems there’s lots of health conditions the writers forget like Summers diabetes

LesserSpottedCharacter · 11/05/2026 09:49

He had a seizure round about the time of Harper's birth or operation, it was in a hospital anyway @JewelleryCat . There was mention along the lines of he hadn't had one for years and that was it, no more talk of whether he could still drive, needed an appointment to review his meds or anything. It was just a cheap tactic to add yet more 'drama' to whatever was supposed to be dramatic at the time.

I really should stop watching, thinking about it isn't doing my BP any good.

JewelleryCat · 11/05/2026 10:16

Thank you @LesserSpottedCharacter I either didn’t realise or completely forgot he had a seizure when Harper was in hospital but surely Harper should be home now? Yes, they like to add drama then forgetting it the next second

Clayton is probably sharing a cell with Max

She started acting quirky and coming out with blunt statements for a while, basically they treated it as a joke.

She annoys me now, she believes everything her idiot sister says and nothing her husband does

Even if Harper is still needing medical treatment there could at least be some vague mention of something, rather than just "I'm going to say goodnight to Harper" every so often.

And, SW if you're reading, said mention doesn't need to be dramatic, it can be a progress report, Shona or David falling asleep at her bedside or the fact that her favourite nurse is on holiday. Less 'drama' = more bearable.

zanahoria · 11/05/2026 11:05

The problem with all this issues plot is that they never really teach viewers much about the issue. I cannot say I have learned much about epilepsy, brain injuries or whatever has happened to poor little Harper

JewelleryCat · 11/05/2026 11:48

How old is Harper now anyway? Didn’t she have a tumour in the womb?
