I can only find the 10 year one as well. Is the 30th not out yet ?

They havent done a new one ,its the wording of it
Its this life 30 years on ie from when it was first shown.

the80sweregreat · 15/04/2026 20:57

Ahh! Makes sense now. Thanks

bornwithhorns · 15/04/2026 21:31

Ferdy was in brassic aswell he had a huge butt 🤣🤣

FatRosie · 16/04/2026 11:11

@bornwithhorns , it's boracic. Boracic lint = skint.

Boracic lint (/bɒˈræsɪk/) is a type of medical dressing made from surgical lint that is soaked in a hot, saturated solution of boracic acid and glycerine and then left to dry. It has been in use since at least the 19th century,[4] but is now less commonly used. When in use, boracic lint proved to be very valuable in the treatment of leg ulcers.[5]

I guess Jack Davenport and Andrew Lincoln have done the best in their subsequent careers - The Walking Dead was a huge hit!

The actress who played Milly turned up as a housekeeper on an episode of Bridgerton a couple of years ago but only had a few lines.

She's about 60 and roles for women tend to become fewer once they get to middle age.

Jack Davenport's parents were actors so he is almost 'acting aristocracy'. I think he's a good actor and very easy on the eye.

queenceleste · 16/04/2026 16:30

I think Amita Dhiri has two kids and how many mothers can continue an acting career and bringing up children?

You can I guess if you’re earning nanny levels of income but harder if not. Or if you have family near and able to help. The hours actors work are not family friendly.

FatRosie · 16/04/2026 16:45

Plenty do. Her children would be in their 20s now.

The hours actors work are not family friendly. and it's a precarious industry. I'd imagine it would be difficult to juggle childcare and a career, especially for a woman.

A few ended up in Eastenders. Kira was Tina Carter ( died) Jo was Michael Moon ( died ) and one of the ones who they interviewed for Warren’s room was Masood and Ferdy played a dad for a while ( but I don’t remember the character , it was a while ago)
You can see where Ricky Gervais got the idea for the office too , as so much is set in the office and he did the music on the show.

I was thinking this re Ricky Gervais and The Office. If you tune out from the drama of This Life during the office scenes you can totally see the potential for comedy in them.

God, the 10 plus one is so bad isn’t it.
I did like the last episode at the wedding and Milly losing it, but the meet up was so bizarre.

BadSkiingMum · 18/04/2026 15:07

Yes, I think they had forgotten what actually made it ‘This Life’. What on earth was with the country mansion setting! The characters never left the City before.

I would have wanted to see them still in the London legal setting.

Anna could have made it big as a barrister and bought the Southwark house, doing it up as a luxurious party pad.

Milly could be a partner in a law firm but trying to balance it with children.

Rachel could be her rival in another firm.

Egg would still be the half-irresponsible writer/Dad.

Miles could have still been an entrepreneur but keeping it all in a London setting would have made far more sense.

the80sweregreat · 18/04/2026 15:18

Spoilers .
Miles just going off like that was bizarre. He kept saying how much he loved Anna , but just left them all to it.
They took the furniture, but not the beds!
How much debt was he in? Yet found the money to go traveling.
Whoever wrote it lost the plot. Only good bit was the music and seeing Anna again. I felt sorry for Milly’s son as she wasn’t enjoying motherhood and just horrible to him. It was all just very odd! ( I did enjoy the original episodes)

I never thought Miles really loved Anna
Clearly hes attracted to her but i think he feels threated by her intelligence
And i think he feels he can do better .

the80sweregreat · 18/04/2026 16:14

I wonder if Anna became pregnant that night and co parents with Warren. I like to think she made it work with a nanny or au pair and ended up even more successful. She was the only one I really liked!

I like these ideas! Would have made a much better programme. Plus would have liked to see Kira and Jo back in some way too.

ConstantlyFuriosa · 19/04/2026 10:11

Upon (yet) another rewatch, I don’t mind the catch up episode. It does make sense in a way. Miles was always a lost rich boy so yeah, him having a country pile works. Plus the fact he couldn’t actually afford it but had it for show. Plus the trophy wife.

Anna is still a barrister and yet realises she couldn’t have it all and wants ‘some sperm’ but doesn’t want a partner. That works too.

Flipping the roles so that Egg is now the breadwinner and Milly the SAHW works too, I think.

So yeah, I enjoyed it. And loved the soundtrack.

And edited to say: Warren now being a fucked up lifestyle coach works too, after all that therapy.

the80sweregreat · 19/04/2026 10:55

As much as I liked the original episodes, I did find the filming of most of it so claustrophobic. Maybe this was done on purpose, but you could almost see their nose hair at times. The locations were good though and these days it wouldn’t be set in London for their home scenes as far too expensive, even with them all paying the bills. They could just go a few stops up on the tube to work , how many young professionals starting out could do that these days in London !
Seened to be more opportunities as well , I doubt it’s like that now , but I don’t know much about the law as an occupation really. It was very cut throat, I bet that hasn’t changed.

Violetparis · 19/04/2026 11:20

I watched the 10yr follow up last night and didn't like it all, didn't think it stayed true to the characters, they were like like parodies. I also would have liked to have seen or find out about Jo, Kira, Rachel and Francesca.

the80sweregreat · 19/04/2026 11:24

I can imagine that Francesca probably remarried someone older and less flaky. I can’t see Kira and Jo staying together, but you never know.
Rachel probably married another lawyer and living the high life. O Donnell stayed with his wife I bet. Managed to talk her round!

BadSkiingMum · 19/04/2026 13:38

Let’s just say that there’s no way that Egg would have got past a first round recruitment interview these days!

the80sweregreat · 19/04/2026 15:03

Egg was clearly bright , but he couldn’t hack the boredom of having to plow through all the lawyer paper work and so on. He should have changed degrees at Uni , but maybe he thought it would get better ! I liked Nikki a lot , I hope she found a nice partner or carried on with the cafe. Did Egg sell it on or have to pay Miles back ? I can’t recall him mentioning it.

2Rebecca · 23/04/2026 17:02

I disliked Kira. I generally dislike extended family being shoe horned in to plots just to create drama and cause easy emotional manipulation. I really really dislike Humphrey’s MIL in Beyond Paradise. There are very few women I want to punch but she is awful

RobinEllacotStrike · 23/04/2026 17:32

I have this gorgeous block printed long flowery cotton "kimono style" dressing gown I bought while on holiday in Amsterdam in the 90's. Still wearing it - its a beloved favourite piece.

Ths thread has reminded me that I totally was inspired to buy it by Anna skulking around the house in her gorgeous dressing gown in This Life

As I said, he's definitely younger than I thought he was the first time I watched it but he still doesn't do it for me! He looks like he'd keep his socks on during sex!
