Anybody else watched yet? I watched thus morning while I had the house to myself.

Enjoyed it, although cant say I like the Fauth storyline. As a book reader I found it too far fetched. As if Faith could have taught Fanny a song, that Claire sang to a baby!. A stillborn baby at that.

Lovely to see Fergus, Marsali and the children again as well.

Can I have Ian as a builder? He can certainly put a house up quickly.

Lord John needs to put a boot up Williams bum. Spoilt brat.

I thought tomorrow was the last episode but there's also one next week. What was with the weeks break we've just had? These TV schedulers definitely know how to get viewers to lose interest.

ProudWomanXX · 08/05/2026 19:58

It seems to be an American thing, like the "mid season break"
It really annoys me!

KiIIingMeDeftly · 08/05/2026 20:49

Especially annoying for me as my MGM sub renews on Sunday. So I have to pay for another month if I want to watch the finale!

ProudWomanXX · 08/05/2026 23:30

Oh, that's bad timing!

ProudWomanXX · 09/05/2026 21:52

Anyone else watched it yet? I'm itching to post, but don't want to Spoiler!

WhyDoesItAlways · 09/05/2026 22:42

Ive just watched it. Wondering if the final episode will be longer than an hour. Still seems so much to wrap up.

ProudWomanXX · 10/05/2026 00:27

I agree. They zipped through an awful lot, this episode!

At least it wasn't so Faith/Frances centric, though

It's apparently 80 mins? But that's American time, with their ad breaks, so no idea really how long it might be.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 10/05/2026 06:33

It's broadcast on Starz in the US so I don't think it'll have any more ads than it does here on MGM.

Megsdaughter · 10/05/2026 10:23

Can I ask now as hopefully most of have watched it yesterday ?

How did Aramanthus send a message to William when in last weeks episode neither John nor herself knew where he was?

Tbh I find the Amaranthus/Henry subplot so pointless that I wasn't paying much attention!

Equally, what was the point of showing Fanny can time travel?Unless it was merely to "prove" that she is Claire's granddaughter?

CarlaH · 10/05/2026 14:39

I’m afraid I didn’t care for that at all despite it being written by herself. I found it rather tedious and schmaltzy. Not sure that Lord John should necessarily assume that Percy actually shot himself just by hearing the shot. Still it hardly matters now. I hope I will enjoy the very last episode though.

KeeleyJ · 14/05/2026 21:15

Sadly I've lost the plot with season 8, its so far removed from the early days I'm looking forward to watching the last episode this weekend then cancelling my subscription.

I have used my subscription to watch the far more enjoyable early series. Once this final is over I will watch until the middle of season three and then cancel. It's when they leave Scotland that I start to lose interest.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 15/05/2026 09:07

If anyone has a few weeks of their subscription left after finishing Outlander then I highly recommend using it to watch The Serpent Queen. Not the most historically accurate, but Samantha Morton is great as Catherine de Medici. And then Minnie Driver shows up in season 2 as an unhinged Elizabeth I!

BorgQueen · 15/05/2026 16:19

Stay off youtube if you don’t want to know how it ends 🙄 I wasn’t even looking for Outlander stuff and up it popped.

Anyone watched the finale yet? I'll hold off from spoilers today, but that was quite the ride!

Megsdaughter · 16/05/2026 12:26

I watched this morning. Not sure what I thought of it to be honest.

Hmm, left so much up in the air and doesn’t feel ‘finished’, maybe so they could do more in the future?

Interesting snippet that Bri’s youngest baby is like Jamie, as in not able to time travel - which to me says they all stayed permanently in the past.
Not brilliant but not as much of a travesty as the ending of Game of Thrones.

MyGPwearsShorts · 16/05/2026 13:32

I found it a bit dull tbh.

And a let down.

It's left it open I feel for another series at some point?

And was it not obvious all along that the highlander was Jamie? 🥴

Perhaps Jamie and Claire will show up on BOMB?

I have to echo your views.

The first half an hour or so was very tedious. The battle was decent I suppose but the ending left me cold and completely unmoved.

What was with the magically appearing forget me nots?

When I think back to Season Three and how emotional I felt when Claire was at the ruined Lallybroch and 'saw' Jamie in the archway . . .

Megsdaughter · 16/05/2026 15:07

I must admit I am a Book Purist and they just went to far off the plot for me this season. Yes, Claire saved Jamie with the Blue Touch in Book 9 but everything else just left me flat.

I so looked forward to this show when I heard it was being filmed as I had started reading the books with Cross Stich ( the UK version of Outlander was called this originally) way back in the 90's.

The 1st season was so brilliant and I had high hopes for it. The casting was good and the sets and such were wonderful.

By Season 4 it was going downhill and I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch any more. Decided to stay with it and it picked up at Season 6.

But Season 8 with all the Faith storyline was just such a letdown. Some buts were ok, but it was all so rushed that all the linked bits that tied the various storylines together in Book 9 were not there and they then appeared jerky and disconnected.

I think I will wait for Book 10 and read the real ending.

The only thing I will say is watch past the credits.

I haven't watched this final series because I have enjoyed the books and just want to wait for the last one. I am reading the Lord John books atm and enjoying those.
