Anybody else watched yet? I watched thus morning while I had the house to myself.

Enjoyed it, although cant say I like the Fauth storyline. As a book reader I found it too far fetched. As if Faith could have taught Fanny a song, that Claire sang to a baby!. A stillborn baby at that.

Lovely to see Fergus, Marsali and the children again as well.

Can I have Ian as a builder? He can certainly put a house up quickly.

Lord John needs to put a boot up Williams bum. Spoilt brat.

MGM through Prime. I got it for £0.99 a month for 3 months think you still can. Will cancel it when series ends.

I am struggling to see how they can wrap it all up in 2 episodes.

Abra1t · 12/04/2026 06:53

Time seems very short to finish it all.

Megsdaughter · 12/04/2026 07:57

@KiIIingMeDeftly there are 4 episodes left, ten in total.

Oh that's good to know, I assumed 8 eps.

Megsdaughter · 18/04/2026 11:19

Terrible episode!

So far from the books.

Really really hate the Faith story so unbelievable.

Killing Fergus off is awful.

Really not looking forward to seeing what the writer do to finish the season and the whole thing off with.

Thanks for the spoiler (not!) 🤬

Some of us won't have got round to watching it, yet, as in the UK it doesn't appear until Sat on Amazon Prime.

Megsdaughter · 18/04/2026 14:46

Sorry 🫣 i have terrible insommnia and watched it at 3am.

Gawd, I'm a mess after that! But I won't say too much else except that Lauren Lyle really is one of the UK's most talented young actresses.

ProudWomanXX · 18/04/2026 19:43

Oh, just watched.

I thought it was a great episode and very sad in bits , especially the historical looking back montage,

but why oh why play so fast and loose with what happens in the Books?

And yes, the Faith stuff is just bloody silly.

ScullyD · 18/04/2026 23:59

I personally think both lead actors are giving off the air of being ‘over it’ the way some leads do in final seasons. Makes it hard to be invested. Faith story didn’t hit right at all.

BorgQueen · 19/04/2026 11:47

I take it that Fergus didn’t die in the books 😡?
It makes zero sense that the Lacemaker wouldn’t have found Claire or that Msr Raymond wouldn’t tell her Jamie’s name.

I've not read the books but apparently Henri-Christian falls off the roof and dies rather than Roger catching him.

Megsdaughter · 19/04/2026 13:34

No, Fergus dosn't die.

When Claire sees the locket, she wonders to Jamie, but he says it couldn't be and thats it. None of this Faith lives nonsense.

Jamie sees her as a Foster Grandaughter when he writes his will.

I've been reading the books since they came out. 😁

Is anyone else wondering how they are going to wrap it all up in 3 episodes?? I feel like not a lot has really happened. It feels a bit forced.

paulhollywoodshairgel · 19/04/2026 15:19

I am glad that Lord John finally told William to stop being such a whiny brat as well!!

ProudWomanXX · 19/04/2026 17:33

I accept that some of the S8 episodes may be using what's going to be in Book 10, but the Faith thing is bloody ridiculous.

And not killing Henri-Christian, as it's a fairly significant plot point.

I have purchased each book the day they came out and then basically read through the night and paused my life to finish them. And all the Lord John novellas/novels and other stories and the two companions.

Just finished a re read of all Herself's writings in chronological order!

(You'll also find extracts from Book 10 on her website)

It makes zero sense that the Lacemaker wouldn’t have found Claire or that Msr Raymond wouldn’t tell her Jamie’s name.

Also, Mother Hildegarde took Claire to see Faith's grave some 20 years later, in a previous series episode (and the Book)

So why would she have lied to Claire at the time about Faith being dead, because she was at the Hospital d Anges for several days after giving birth, due to having Puperal fever, which Master Raymond cured her with his "blue light" healing hands.

And it was many months later that Raymond disappeared from Paris in mysterious circumstances, so surely he would have had time to reunite Claire with Faith?
.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 19/04/2026 17:43

What even was M. Raymond's motive for taking Faith?

ProudWomanXX · 19/04/2026 19:39

KiIIingMeDeftly · 19/04/2026 17:43

What even was M. Raymond's motive for taking Faith?

To make the story fit around the "Fanny is their long lost grand daughter?", narrative, maybe?

It's an absolute load of bollocks, and the time spent on all this Faith nonsense could have been much better spent on tying up other loose ends in the story line.

Herself isn't totally impressed, judging by a comment on her FB!

CarlaH · 20/04/2026 14:29

That was a bloody travesty.

BorgQueen · 20/04/2026 14:59

Yep, I HATE that they killed off Fergus.
The montage of him growing up was quite emotional though.
Is he the heir of Count St Germain in the books?

Percy Wainwright keeps saying he is, but it's not clear if it's actually true, or just a ruse to let the French get Fergus to sell them the lands in N America (northwest territories/ what will become Canada)

Percy is not only Lord Johns ex lover (and step brother!) but also a spy for the French and married to the sister of Fergus's mother Amilie

Le Compte allegedly married Amilie (he became her protector in the Paris Brothel for 10 months to make sure the child was his) and hence there is Fergus.

In the books, that is.

No idea what the TV series will do in the next three episodes!

ProudWomanXX · 20/04/2026 16:24

The books aren't clear whether Le Compte actually did marry Amilie, or if he's even the Father of Fergus.

They did cast an actor for Le Compte, who looked like Fergus, though.

ProudWomanXX · 20/04/2026 17:47

Although in one of the short stories, it certainly appears Le Compte did impregnate Amilie (but we don't know for sure, that baby was Fergus!)
