Thought I'd kick it off so we have a new thread for the final leg

Old Thread for the people what likes it all neat 'n' stuff.

Oh I was sure you lot would know why Billie P was talking funny! I remembered Rose being more Cockernee than that - she sounded posher. It was bloody annoying though - dh and I just kept going "WHY is she talking like that? What's wrong with her teeth?"

Not enough DT in that episode for me liking. And I wish Donna would stop SHAAAAAHTING all the time.

Was there any significance in the dead Dr dropping the sonic screwdriver - what with that other woman having one etc .. ? I thought we were going to see someone pick it up, but didn't.

Not like me then Dior, I have myself tied up in knots with theories on Donna!

I'm awful for second guessing story lines, it drives DH mad. Especially on CSI or Heroes!
Donna...the Rani? or the result a timelord or lady mixing with a human? Was she adopted? Is that why her mum dosen't seem to be close to her? Is she Romana's daughter? oooh the list goes on....see what I mean? lol!

I agree . But I was thinking, what if Donna was placed with her, and her memory modified, but oviously no bond had been built between mother and child? The mother "knows" this child, the daughter, is hers, but has no emotional connection?
See what I mean? Theories coming out my ears and I can't stick to one!

LIZS · 22/06/2008 21:04

Glad I wasn't the only one who thgouht BP's pronunciation and accent was a bit odd, like her mouth was numb from dentist work . Is she having her teeth fixed ?

turquoise · 22/06/2008 21:28

If Tosh and Ianto died in yesterdays Donna's parallel universe, does that mean they're not really dead in the real universe (IYSWIM)? I missed the actual episode of Torchwood where they died - but presume if everything else was fixed by Donna going back - then that must have been?

Who was Chan To - I recognise the name but can't place it.

And wasn't Rose Bad Wolf?

I reallly don't pay enough attention.

ellceeell · 22/06/2008 21:33

I didn't see Mickey - did I miss him or is he not in this? After all, if Rose can travel from an alternate universe, why can't he?

RustyBear · 22/06/2008 21:36

I thought Rose said Gwen & Ianto died, not Tosh.

Aitch · 22/06/2008 22:46

having watched dwc... rtd should know that it's not pronounced 'fine-alley', shouldn't he?

KayHarker · 22/06/2008 23:00

Mickey's not back... yet.

Who's seen the new trailers ??

Agree about RTD's odd pronunciation of "finale"!

lovecat · 22/06/2008 23:47

This is probably me overthinking stuff, but in the world where Donna turned right, why were there references to all the other earth-bound bits (the disappearing hospital, the Titanic crashing on London, etc) but no mention of Mr Saxon? Was it just that if the Doctor died with the Arachnos, he wasn't ever there to travel to the end of the Universe and discover Derek Jacobi?

I really enjoyed Saturday's episode, but I have to say that the Bad Wolf stuff confuses me deeply.....

prettybird · 22/06/2008 23:52

That's right Lovecat. That's why it was someone from UNIT in charge of firing on the Christmas Star and not someone acting on the "orders of Mr Saxon".

UnquietDad · 23/06/2008 00:08

That's pretty much it, lovecat. All that other stuff would have happened - basically the plots of the six or so further modern-Earth-centric stories we have seen since then - but resolved in a different way.

gizmo · 23/06/2008 10:09

That was rather good, wasn't it? Although I don't think Donna's new backpack was very practical...

It's very reassuring to find that a DW episode can be highly entertaining with hardly any DT in it - let's face it, at some point we're going to have get used to that.

I do hope we don't get a 2nd/3rd part anticlimax in the manner of last season. Although I'm loving the idea of bringing in all the Torchwood/Sarah Jane connections, the 'Bad Wolf' storyline has always left me a bit cold, because I just don't get it. Bad Wolf is meant to be Rose crossed with the Tardis, right? Who's leaving clues for herself to go back to the time and place of the battle with the Daleks at the end of series 1, right? Well, firstly, how does 'Bad Wolf' tell Rose anything about where to go, how to get there and what to do when she does? And secondly, how, if she can see the whole of time and space, does she not know to do that without having to leave word litter everywhere?

And thirdly, what the frack does this have to do with End of The Universe?

My only hope is that the second part will begin with the Doctor explaining the whole thing...very slowly...with diagrams...and handouts...to Donna.

prettybird · 23/06/2008 10:26

I'd guessed last week when we found out that Rose was coming back in Episode 11 that the it would be a triple episdoe finale - so I think you are going to be disappointed Gizmo

I'd been noticng the Bad Wolf/Rose theme tune every so often durring this series, so had wondered about "Bad Wolf".

Haven't wroked it out yet - especially where/how Davros fits in - but if Rose has jumed between universes, then the barriers are no longer shut as they had been at the end of the Battle of Torchwood - so if Rose can get through, then so can the Daleks.

And maybe in doing so, they have caused some sort of paradox that is "killing" the universe - and all its parallel universes.

KayHarker · 23/06/2008 11:09

grr, still can't watch on the BBC website. Thank goodness for people uploading elsewhere. I wouldn't normally encourage it, but if the ruddy Corporation won't let me view it, then fiddlesticks to legality.

OP posts:
mankyscotslass · 23/06/2008 12:08

I don't reckon Rose and the Doctor are going to meet up. They will both know they are trying to help each other, but cant get to each other at all. I think this time she has to make a sacrifice to save him or the universe, she has to give him up. Or maybe not, lol.
