Thought I'd kick it off so we have a new thread for the final leg

Old Thread for the people what likes it all neat 'n' stuff.

Not sure what the ending is (like I'd spoil it if I did!) but I'm fairly sure they will meet. Would be just too, too horrible for them not to.

[soppy old romantic]

How is bad wolf the end of the universe? I really don't get that.

edam · 23/06/2008 13:38

I dunno, it would kind of spoil the drama of the Rose and Doctor parted forever story if they met up again. I cried buckets at the end of the Bad Wolf series!

prettybird · 23/06/2008 14:14

Not sure if Bad Wolf itself means the end of the universe, but the fact that Rose is back in this universe and able to bring the Bad Wolf woarning itself means that the barriers between the universes has broken down - and that in itself could mean the end of the universe.

The "why" the barriers have broken down will probably be the reason why this could (it obvioulsy isn't, as the Doctor and all his compnaions will save the day! ) be the end of the universe.

mankyscotslass · 23/06/2008 14:24

I wonder if the daleks are trying to do something to undo what happened in the Time War?
See what I mean, I am going round in circles, lol!

mankyscotslass · 23/06/2008 14:25

And by doing that they unravel the universe?

cjsausie · 23/06/2008 14:34

Thanks for iplayer info re repeats - does it stay on iplayer for a week after the friday BBC2 repeat? going on holidys next week for 2 weeks and will miss the last episode absolutely gutted! will miss both Tv repeats too . Anyone have any good ideas on how i can watch last episode (we are in Italy so don't think i can watch iplayer on internet cafe there??)
should really be getting organised but this is all i can think about
by the way DT fans he looks sooooo hot in this clip oh oh ohhhhh

TinkerbellesMum · 23/06/2008 15:21

If a programme is repeated there are two versions on iplayer, they both stay until a week after they were shown, so the repeat will be there a few days longer than the original.

KayHarker · 23/06/2008 16:03

edam, I agree, I didn't want Rose to come back, because I love the parting on Bad Wolf bay.

However, signs are that they are going to tie the story-arc up in the next two episodes so I'm waiting to see how it plays out on screen.

I do have reservations, though, because I can see it messing up that wonderful he-was-so-going-to-say-'I-love-you' thing, and remove the ambiguity that keeps both the shippers and the 'ew, the Doctor doesn't do icky love' freaks people happy.

ooooh!

I loved the way his face changed when she said there was going to be a baby in the family.

serenity · 23/06/2008 16:21

If Rose and the Doctor get smoochy I'll be incredibly irritated... Hopefully it will all just be hugely angsty, and he'll just keep missing her until right at the end where they'll have (let's be generous) 10 nanoseconds for wistful gazing before she's whisked off to her alternate universe/dies in an heroic act of self sacrifice.

My feelings exactly, Serenity. Let's hope RTD has the good sense to stick to that sequence of events and not go for one of his terrible schmaltzy endings. (Like Donna and the Doc waving to Grandad from the Tardis. I nearly puked.)

serenity · 23/06/2008 16:27

In self defence (just read Kays post properly, sorry!) I don't mind the Doctor doing love/sex/romance, I just can't stand domestic, and all those shippers seem to want him tied down with Rose and 2.4 alien hybrid children

serenity · 23/06/2008 16:28

edam - oh yes, that ending made me do so much I got eyebrow cramp.....

SaintGeorge · 23/06/2008 16:34

DH has a question (or three), I don't have the answers so wondered if you geeks lovely people could do the honours

If Donna doesn't meet the Dr and he dies, how can they go to Pompeii together? If they don't go to Pompeii so that the Dr can force Vesuvius to erupt and defeat the Pyrowotsits, how does the world survive?

If the world doesn't survive the Pyrowotsits ....

You see where he is going with this?

roffle, I'm not really a hardcore Rose/Doctor shipper - I'm int' middle when it comes to this sort of thing - I like playing around with it for story-ideas, but I'm not so bonkers I'm calling for Moffat's head because of River Song (in fact, I love that ship, tbh!)

But I can't get my head around the folk that point-blank insist he was going to say anything other than 'I love you' to her before he disappeared. Because Doctor Who isn't about emotions and stuff, just Daleks. Or something.

Of course he wouldn't have meant 'You are my one truest wuv and I will haff yur babeez for eva', but everyone involved in the production made it clear (and a cursory knowledge of human English language patterns shows) that the Doctor and Rose loved each other and this was their final goodbye.

Although I am very fond of the idea that he was going to point at her and say...

"And I suppose, if it's my last chance to say it... Rose Tyler... You're fired!"

Trying to remember the Pompeii one - but wasn't there something about it wouldn't have happened if the doctor hadn't been there in the first place?

SaintGeorge · 23/06/2008 16:40

ROFL Dior, 'tis DH not DS.

Not sure he will settle for timey wimey stuff. The pat on the head is a must though

I've read a good theory for the whole Shakespeare code/Pompeii paradox - hang on and I'll go and swipe it...

KayHarker · 23/06/2008 16:48

SaintGeorge, the consensus among those that are trying to fit this all into canon is that the universe reformed itself around Donna and would have compensated in other ways for the events which she was originally supposed to have been involved with (which is why the Adipose company went to America and so on).

Or, you could always explain it using the catch-all sci-fi device we call a 'plotole'
