My God! It's got Beansprout!!!!!

KatyMac · 14/06/2008 20:41

DD fell asleep - she got back from a week away with school

She was so cross

Ses15 · 14/06/2008 20:41

I saw it!! I'm a huge Dr Who fan!! Was another great episode and what about Rose on the tv screen!!!!

beansprout · 14/06/2008 20:55

Brilliantly cheap episode to produce! And I understood it all (unlike last week )

KayHarker · 14/06/2008 20:55

very good beansprout.. now, do we have a whole thread of you doing it?

Actually, I'm so warped, I was doing it to my eldest [evil].

Well, I loved it. I knew about Rose on the screen - it's the same bit they used in the earlier episode with Donna. Guess that shows Rose is definitely saying 'Doctor'.

Dh hated it, though. I suppose it's going to be the 'Love and Monsters' of this series. Marmite. Oh well, I like Marmite too.

Oh and arf at 'Why Doctor, you're so handsome, why yes I am, thankyou very much'

I thought it was great. It really spooked dd though. She sat with her hands over her eyes for most of it.

beansprout · 14/06/2008 21:03

He should have hung onto those handcuffs you know. Would have come in handy for when they were trying to chuck him off (and if he ever meets me ).

Ses15 · 14/06/2008 21:04

Oooh! Hope she didn't sit too still and that she didn't start repeating everything....!

Ses15 · 14/06/2008 21:06

Has anybody else seen that David is in Hamlet at Stratford in July?? I've got a ticket to go with a friend. We are soooo excited!

KayHarker · 14/06/2008 21:11

Yes, I'm going in August. I have a portable seatbelt to tie myself into the seat in case I get the urge to do a swan-dive onto him from the balcony.

Not sure how I'm going to stop myself from making a loud squeaking noise at his first entrance, though.

RustyBear · 14/06/2008 21:11

I thought it was great,I liked the Doctor being vulnerable, that everything he said was being repeated kind of undermined his authority so he couldn't persuade people as he usually does - the way he did before the repetition started.

RustyBear · 14/06/2008 21:14

If anyone wants to go to Hamlet, there's a pair of tickets on ebay currently at £255 - last pair I saw went for £330....

Ses15 · 14/06/2008 21:15

Kay - I'm with you there - definitely going to need restraint!!

KayHarker · 14/06/2008 21:18

blimey Rusty, that's a bit hefty.

Mind you, I don't know why I'm getting excited about it - I have him round every Friday when Dh goes out to football. He never recites Hamlet, though, maybe it's the Shakespeare getting me all aglow...

RustyBear · 15/06/2008 20:44

btw did you know this episode had another child of a previous doctor in it- did you spot them?

Ses15 · 15/06/2008 20:46

Really? No I didn't! Who? When?

SaintGeorge · 15/06/2008 20:50

Ooh ooh, I know, this one!

RustyBear · 15/06/2008 20:52

That's the one SaintGeorge - now for the bonus question - he's been in it before - when & who did he play?

PigeonPie · 15/06/2008 20:54

I wondered whether he was, and what about Alice Troughton?

SaintGeorge · 15/06/2008 20:55

Early 70's at a guess. No idea who he played though, memory no good for character names.

Was my Doctor though, Jon Pertwee.

UnquietDad · 15/06/2008 20:57

He was King Peladon in "The Curse of Peladon" with Jon Pertwee.

Director Alice is no relation!

SaintGeorge · 15/06/2008 20:58

OK, now I know 'cos I have googled but I shall leave for someone else to guess.

I could just remember my dad pointing out Patrick Troughton's son once.

SaintGeorge · 15/06/2008 20:59

x posts

PigeonPie · 15/06/2008 21:00

Thanks UD, I've been wondering that for aaages!

PortBlacksandResident · 15/06/2008 21:02

Hi all,

I don't actually like it when the Doctor becomes too vulnerable. Cue loads of overacting by DT - wide dark eyes and pained expression.

Although some of you ladies like that .

Actually think this series is the weakest yet - too much daughter / future wife / pained expressions for me.

Love Donna though.

I like my doctor uncomplicated and fighting baddies with a twinkle. I worry that it's going to do an 'X Files' and turn in on itself turning in on itself.

Just my thoughts FWIW - DH, DMum and DDad disagree.
