Thought I'd kick it off so we have a new thread for the final leg

Old Thread for the people what likes it all neat 'n' stuff.

OP posts:
TinkerbellesMum · 21/06/2008 23:00

The SJ episode was a friend of hers had died as a child on a school trip, she fell off a peer. SJ tried to save her, but wasn't strong enough. But she didn't die, the figure pulled her back and let her change places with SJ. The kids knew something was wrong and saved the day (can't remember how) but the figure was part of the "Tricksters Brigade". I don't normally watch SJ, I just happened to catch that one once

This weeks episode of Doctor Who for anyone who missed it.

Hadn't noticed the voices, but I'm slightly deaf (especially at the end of the day) so don't always.

Brilliant episode, I liked the contrast after have a Doctor only episode last week. Was great to see the two companions working together, especially as they don't normally get on!

stitch · 21/06/2008 23:01

i absolutelyloved that episode.
amazing stuff

AitchNunsnet · 21/06/2008 23:06

oh and Cribbins had me In Bits. i wouldn't argue hard if any of you said he's the best thing in it, tbh.

UnquietDad · 21/06/2008 23:34

Billie did sound odd - either Botox or as if her teeth didn't fit! Funny someone mentioned freckles - if you look at the bit where she is riding in the lorry to the hangar where they keep the Mirrors, she's definitely freckly.

I thought it was good but not the best. I have a personal bugbear about "Christmas" scenes shot in bright bloody streaming SUNLIGHT with quite-obviously-deciduous trees in full leaf behind! I mean, how much would it have cost to blot them out with CGI? Or even not bother with that scene, and do it all in the hotel lobby with that decked out for Christmas?

Next week, though.... laughing Davros!!

Aitch · 21/06/2008 23:36

well I had a problem with Cribbins on the couch. they WOULD have got another room, ffs, making an old man sleep on a couch at Christmas. what would they have done if the room hadn't had a sofa? [outraged]

Chamomile · 22/06/2008 00:17

Isn't iplayer wonderful! I've just finished watching the ep. again in peace. Quite a different experience to watching with 3 dc. 2 asking questions all the way through and DD climbing all over me and saying "little bit scary, mumma " and making me fel guilty for keeping her up so late.

UnquietDad · 22/06/2008 00:18

DD thinks it is OK to talk through the episode if she whispers and tonight I pointed out that this is just as annoying as talking out loud!

Chamomile · 22/06/2008 00:28

Actually, I must admit to being "shushed" by ds2 as I was getting a bit overexcited in places. The trailer looks fantastic.

Chamomile · 22/06/2008 00:49

Do you think they will bring it off? I mean having everyone and his dog from all the spinoffs in it. Will it just be a walk on, say hello and get a name check ? Or will everyone have a part to play?

KatyMac · 22/06/2008 01:08

& it's obvious it would be a sofa bed anyway

When is the Sarah-Jayne thing on - my DD has been hassling me about it

TinkerbellesMum · 22/06/2008 01:24

I'm not sure it is on at the moment. They've made one series so far that ended the end of last year and there was talk about the new one starting in March but there was a change of producer and Russel said that the new series wouldn't be out in March. I can't find anything that says when series two will be out. There's been at least one re-run on BBC1 to my knowledge, not sure if it is running at the moment though.

LaVieEnRose · 22/06/2008 01:24

so what was wrong with billie's teeth? They looked too big for her mouth!

TinkerbellesMum · 22/06/2008 01:25

Billie's teeth always look too big for her mouth, she reminds me of someone playing a vampire with dodgy fake teeth.

Chamomile · 22/06/2008 01:47

There was something weird with her diction. It sounded like she had a plate in or something.

mankyscotslass · 22/06/2008 06:09

Did anyone else think the bell that sounded when the Dr went back in the Tardis was the old Cloister bell from the original series? The one that warned of impending doom/regeneration?

JackieNo · 22/06/2008 09:21

UnquietDad - I wondered about freckliness when she was in the landrover, but decided it was just the shadows of rain on the windscreen. Not sure now.

ReverseThePolarity · 22/06/2008 09:23

MankySL I thought the same - deffo the Cloister bell (from Logopolis - can't remember which others) that sounded.

I so had goosebumps at the end of that episode. Didn't get to watch Confidential though will have a look on iplayer actually to see if I can find it. The look on his face when Donna said "bad wolf" was just brilliant... and when he ran out to see bad wolf written everywhere... my hair stood on end!

Only trouble is this. I felt exactly the same during the last ten minutes of Utopia last year ("I am... the Master!") but then felt very let down by the two-episode season finale. It looks just fabulous from the trailer... but I'm nervous of being let down again...

NoBiggy · 22/06/2008 09:23

Yes, I was expecting him to say "the Cloister Bell!" in doomy tones.

I was disappointed though

mankyscotslass · 22/06/2008 09:30

I liked the dawning realization of who had passed the message on was well done. "what did she look like" "what was her name". He knew even before Donna said "Bad Wolf".
I am so looking forward to the last two episodes now!

I can still see Catherine's other characters coming through sometimes and I find it off putting, it's just a reminder she's Catherine Tate rather than her just being Donna IYSWIM.

Reverse, if you follow my link there will be a link for DWC on it.

I was interested in what Russel said about the original "Bad Wolf" (graffiti on the TARDIS) wasn't important and they just decided it would make a good plot line.

UnquietDad · 22/06/2008 10:36

mankyscotslass - yes, that was definitely the old Cloister bell.

Katymac, timkkerbelle - there is a new series of Sarah Jane being filmed - twice as long as the last (12 episodes). It'll be shown in the autumn.

TinkerbellesMum · 22/06/2008 10:38

Thanks for that. I did a quick Google but couldn't find much about any new series or if series 1 is still being shown.
