Thought I'd kick it off so we have a new thread for the final leg

Old Thread for the people what likes it all neat 'n' stuff.

OP posts:
UnquietDad · 24/06/2008 17:02

It is. It's the Doctor's old hand from when he first regenerated, cut off by the Sycorax leader.

PersephoneSnape · 24/06/2008 17:14

blue suit doctor and brown suit doctor? parallel doctors? botched regeneration?

hand growing a whole new doctor instead of the other way around (once they take it out of it's pickle jar...)

Donna wouldn't necessarily need a fob watch - if she's a lady-time-lord then she would probably have a locket or some such - might be possible, but she is 'normal' in her humanity, not brilliant like jacobi-master (although everyone keeps saying she is brilliant) and wouldn't the drums send her nut-soh as well? having stared into the vortex, void thing but then that would explain why the doctor can't smell the raaaaaaaaaaaaaaneeeeeee!!

i read somehwere that joan collins was playing the rani though - was that just a rumour?

prettybird · 24/06/2008 17:25

The hand was kep tby Captain Jack as his "Doctor Detector" - as seen bubbling at the end of Torchwood 1st series and "swtiched" acorss to the end of the last Docotr WHo series. Having made his peace witht he Docotr, he then left it behind in the Tardis.

KayHarker · 24/06/2008 17:28

We're dangerously close to making this a waaaayyy big spoilery thread, m'dears...

OP posts:
KayHarker · 24/06/2008 17:33

'twas only the Master that went mad after looking into the untempered schism (which is, quite co-incidently, the name of my street ). That doesn't happen as a matter of course, the Doctor doesn't have drums etc.

But I'll have whatever it is you're having, PS

OP posts:
Manictigger · 24/06/2008 21:41

Kay, You live in Untempered Schism Street?!!!! Wow, I'd love an address like that.

UnquietDad · 24/06/2008 21:48

I don't think we're having a Rani this year. But if we ever are, I'd like her to be played by someone rather more hot and sultry than Joan Collins. Maybe Stephanie Leonidas (I can but hope...)

JackieNo · 24/06/2008 21:49

So hot that 'The website declined to show this page'.

UnquietDad · 24/06/2008 21:51

Really?! It's only a head-&-shoulders shot - fully clothed and everything!!

JackieNo · 24/06/2008 21:53

Her?

UnquietDad · 24/06/2008 21:55

Not the best pic of her...

JackieNo · 24/06/2008 21:58

? (bit soft-focus, or possibly just blown up too big)

PersephoneSnape · 24/06/2008 22:24

ooh bugger, i don't mean to be spoilery, i'm just speculatory. I have absolutely NO foundation for any of these silly ideas!

did i mention started watching from season one again? On reflection, eccleston was a lot more brusque than tennant wasn't he? always going on about bloomin' 'umans, masking the fact that he loooooves us silly mono hearted bipeds with the opposable thumbs.

UnquietDad · 24/06/2008 22:33

Yes, Eccleston had that appealing and very Doctorish "distance" that Tom Baker had. Tennant is more "human" like Davison. JN- yes, that's her.

KayHarker · 24/06/2008 23:27

But not as 'human' as Doctor Eight, eh?

OP posts:
cornsilk · 25/06/2008 00:03

what's a rani?

serenity · 25/06/2008 00:20

Evil!Timelord (or lady, but I think Timelady sounds pants tbh) from Classic Who, that a lot of fanboys want back - speculation was that the hand picking up the Masters ring was The Rani rather than his wife.

The Rani

TinkerbellesMum · 25/06/2008 00:49

I'm sure the Doctor has mentioned Miasimia Goria, as I'm too young to really remember the first time around (although I do remember I loved it, I think I'm quite similar to Ace in a way so maybe what drew me to it, I remember I liked her) so I don't think it's in my memory banks from the past. Can anyone remember when or why he's mentioned it?

PersephoneSnape · 25/06/2008 08:28

I'm starting to think that the rani just got a bad press because she's an intelligent woman and she's actually quite nice - like the wicked witch of the west in wizard of Oz Vs the 'wicked' witch of the west in 'wicked'.

goblinvalley · 25/06/2008 12:31

I don't know if this has been linked to before, but the beeb has put up clip for 'The Stolen Earth' I really liked it - great foreboding

cornsilk · 25/06/2008 12:39

That looks ACE!!!

TinkerbellesMum · 25/06/2008 12:46

Oh wow! I've shivers watching that!

slalomsuki · 25/06/2008 12:50

wow sent shivers down my spine

cornsilk · 25/06/2008 13:11

wish Gwen and Tosh weren't in it though. There'll be loads of talking over it by ds2, 'who's he?' 'who's she?' 'How do they know Captain Jack?' Actually I might brief my ds's before it starts - how sad is that!

cornsilk · 25/06/2008 13:12

Not Tosh - Ianto.
