Not changing my mind on this one, have an inkling.

UnquietDad · 24/06/2008 13:08

Donna's dad was seen in the "Runaway Bride" episode - we've been told he died, haven't we?

Manictigger · 24/06/2008 13:10

So you think her real father was an alien/timelord etc. and that's who her mum is always referring to?

Maybe it's just RTD being very humane, not wanting to completely forget about the actor who died. After all if your husband died you'd still talk about him so perhaps RTD is just trying to be realistic.

However Cornsilk, I prefer your inkling

cornsilk · 24/06/2008 13:11

I shall be very smug when I'm proved correct.

I didn't think we knew who picked up the ring (apart from it being a woman). DH and I always wondered if it was the Master's crazed wife.

Bugger, came on here to look up about potty-training and have spent whole time reading about blardy DW....

PersephoneSnape · 24/06/2008 13:17

ooh yes raaaaaaaaaaaaaani!!

(no it wasn't, but oh! that would be great!)

KayHarker · 24/06/2008 13:18

It was all mentioned in the first confidential of this series - the actor was even there for the read-through. RTD said they included the references to him later on as a nice little nod to him, so that he didn't just disappear.

I really doubt the character of Donna's father is part of the plot developments in any significant way. Who Donna is remains an interesting question, and one that we are clearly supposed to ask.

RTD has also said that she is just an ordinary human. But so was John Smith. And RTD is a big fat liar with his pants positively flaming in many cases, so make of any of that what you will.

My gut feeling is that she will do something spectacular for the Doctor, and I only hope it doesn't involve him turning into Gandalf, Gollum or Tinkerbell this year. However, based on the little I know, I'm reasonably confident RTD is going to make up to the fangirls for the woeful underuse of DT in LotTL.

But was that her reall father UQD? I'm still going with the adopted theory.....

Aitch · 24/06/2008 13:19

well the two things aren't mutually exclusive. i saw on DWC that the dad was back for rehearsals but unfortunately he really wasn't well enough so having used BC in teh titanic one they thought they could use him again as a grandad. but with the dad out of the way, of course, that still might mean there are other options for his background.

Miggsie · 24/06/2008 13:28

Hello fellow geeks, what about the disappearng planets and stars and bees they keep mentioning?
Where HAVE they gone?!
RTD says this is significant too

I always assumed the "masters" wife was the actual Master and HE was a stooge, which is why he did not regenerate, cos he was not REALLY a time lord!

Who is Donna? What is she?

I hope she does not die, I really like Donna as I think the Doctor should have a grown up as a companion.

Really thrilled SJ is coming back, I always loved her!

KayHarker · 24/06/2008 13:35

Time beatle. Arf.

The Bees are going to sing 'So long and thanks for all the fish pollen'

mankyscotslass -- the Master mentioned the Medusa Cascade at the end of the last series (not that I remembered that myself; it was on Confidential)

mankyscotslass · 24/06/2008 16:11

Thanks PAL! OOOh....maybe the master had a hand in all of this before he regenerated.

mankyscotslass · 24/06/2008 16:16

sorry, failed to regenerate!!! Had littlest manky on my knee, got distracted!

JackieNo · 24/06/2008 16:18

I did wonder whether Donna will suddenly find a pocket watch somewhere in her belongings.

cornsilk · 24/06/2008 16:32

maybe her dad had a pocket watch...

Dialogue from last episode:

Davros: No, Donna, I am you father...

Donna: Noooooooooooooooooo

OP posts:
cornsilk · 24/06/2008 16:52

And the Doctor would be her brother! Genius!

UnquietDad · 24/06/2008 16:52

Followed by:

DOOSH-doosh-doosh
dub-dubba-dum...

cornsilk · 24/06/2008 16:53

Even the chopped off hand fits in there.

mankyscotslass · 24/06/2008 16:55

I thought the hand thing has to do with the two doctors in different suits in one of the last two episodes? maybe I'm wrong though!

UnquietDad · 24/06/2008 16:57

Davros lost his hand in 1985 - it was blown off by a mercenary.

cornsilk · 24/06/2008 16:59

Who does the hand in the tardis belong to ? I thought it was from the Christmas episode 3 years ago.
