Oh, so bringing the clay up and poking in to make the shapes? See, this is why I prefer to watch pottery rather than attempt it again Grin

Yeah, I suppose I might struggle to get everything the same size. Maybe it was just to test their trimming skills.

Finn’s is excellent

AlicePottery · 01/02/2026 20:44

Fynn's is actually quite nice!

SabrinaThwaite · 01/02/2026 20:45

Fynn is amazing at decorating.

AlicePottery · 01/02/2026 20:49

Fynn for PoTW, not sure who's going home though.

Ooh Anghard's is nice too

Hope Bill doesn’t go. Think Andrew’s is the most disappointing looking at his previous efforts. Maybe Bill’s candlestick expertise will save him.

EnterQueene · 01/02/2026 20:53

Hard to choose between Fynn & Angharad for the win - they are both deserving. Andrew to leave because Bill won the candlestick challenge?

AlicePottery · 01/02/2026 20:58

Fair enough, glad I'm not judging it 😅

Really enjoyed that, looked like the right decision

AlicePottery · 01/02/2026 21:00

Ooooooooh next week looks good, and the guest judge is an incredible potter (Gabriel Nichols, has loads of posts on Instagram, some of the stuff he throws is properly impressive).

I liked Andrew too.

Univerallyuniversal · 01/02/2026 22:10

I liked Andrew but then I like them all. What a great week, I loved those souvenirs.

Womaninhouse17 · 02/02/2026 08:04

I wanted Angharad to win. I wasn't that interested in the task and missed the very end of the programme. What is it next week?

CrossPurposes · 02/02/2026 10:00

I loved both Fynn and Angharad's mugs.

Next week is tagines, amd the spot test will be possibly be throwing something huge as that's what the guest judge specialises in, or maybe decorating a big planter or a chimney stack.

They showed the guest revealing a chiminea so I’m guessing the spot challenge is throwing that.

Madcats · 03/02/2026 07:01

Judging by the ‘mini trailer’ (yes I thought it looked like a chiminea in the challenge, too), I am guessing that throwing something big and tall will be more of a challenge for a shorter person.

I thought Fynn’s pieces were lovely (as are some of their pieces on Insta), Angharad’s too, but it has become a bit more of a “decoration” challenge than in previous years.

AlicePottery · 03/02/2026 18:42

I wouldn't physically be able to throw the stuff he does even with years of practice, it's the sort of thing where being a bloke would definitely be an advantage!

I struggle slightly with challenges which are weighted in favour of people who are good at drawing or painting. I'd have thought you could be a brilliant potter but not be very good at producing a picture of a seaside destination to order.

I feel the same about everything having to tell 'a story' - and often about themselves. If you didn't have a good or interesting childhood or just want to keep your own life private, why does your art have to be about yourself?
