Avoided thread until this evening as just watched final. Fynn’s final piece was dark and gloomy and the whole process was too rushed for any of them to do their absolute best. I don’t think I’ve ever agreed with the choice of winner though Grin - maybe AJ a few series ago?
I liked all the participants this year, there’s usually one who grates on me and makes it through to quite a late stage (that woman who laughed about her puppies being eaten by crocodiles being a particular low point). This year’s were all lovely in their own way and there didn’t seem weekly ‘this is my truth’ navel gazing, which made the little glimmers of heartfelt feeling really shine.
Elham’s final make was inspired, from the exquisite little urns to the child swinging on the chandeliers after 7pm Grin

I loved the sense of humour in Elham's. But that was a huge crack, sadly.

She had a huge crack in her winning water fountain though which I thought really detracted from the design. So clearly there are cracks and cracks!

i predicted finn would win. you could tell by the way the judges were talking about him. i didn't really understand what his was about. but liked his "people".

At the time that was excused as 'lending to the aged aesthetic' if I recall!

Haha, great excuse!

I think it would be good if the finalists also had to produce a submission to a brief at home over say a week alongside their live final make.
Id love to see what they were all capable of with proper time and planning.
They do it on Portrait/Landscape artist of the year and I love seeing their absolute best and more authentic work.

What a great idea.

That is a good idea and would improve the Sewing Bee as well!

Inevitably work has technical faults under heavy time pressure.
