Forgive me , I’m in 1987 , we now have Rod in the police and Madge dumped Ralph!

Im quit enjoying the little stories with not alot happening. Just easy watching..

Yeah i got really engrossed in Billy and Doreens mortgage troubles nothing major. But really good acting.

Yes its a big turnaround but probably because of the way this story line pans out.

Yes, but it just doesn’t fit right with how things were before. It’s such clunky change

Paul2023 · 21/08/2026 08:12

It’s strange , 4 decades on and some things are still the same as back then. People struggling with cost of living, mortgages, lack of jobs, social and economical problems. Trade unions.

Its like things have gone full circle.

bigTillyMint · 22/08/2026 17:22

Strange DD wanting a serving hatch - I thought they were popular in the 50s/60s and out of fashion by the early 90s 😄

thecatdidit · 24/08/2026 10:05

@bigTillyMint we've still got a serving hatch, it's very useful albeit we don't serve food through it 😂

Paul2023 · 06/09/2026 20:27

It was nice seeing Billy And Doreen in Tunbridge Wells, a town I used to know ! Still catching up in 1987 now..

She was desperate for a baby and this u turn doesn’t really fit with everything so far.

Yes it never really made sense why she was desperate for a baby when she was just promoted at work. Then Fran points it out and it’s like she’s just realised actually it might not be a good time!

I think the reasoning was that she wanted to give Terry his own child to ‘make up’ for her first child not being his. Terry wasn’t keen but then was persuaded after his fertility issue was sorted so then a change of heart based on a blossoming job went down badly as he felt like she was distancing him again.

I’m trying to think of their house layout. Isn’t the dining table in the kitchen anyway? There’s only two rooms.

I bricked up my serving hatch!

NCTDN · 09/09/2026 20:03

We also had a serving hatch and it was filled in. I loved it but my mum hated it!

bigTillyMint · 12/09/2026 12:42

I remember the chickens storyline and Sinbad keeping them in boxes with Paxo on the side 😂

VanillaImpulse · 12/09/2026 15:42

Had to laugh when that dog died and you could see its body rising up and down. Think they should have just done a still at that point!

Yes i saw that😂
The dog must have been well trained to play dead though
Did Vince Earl who played Ron Dixon wear.a hair piece/ Toupee ?
I was looking at the back of his head hair and it just looked odd.

Yes! I was also thinking no one would go off and leave their dead dog lying there

Im going to look closely next time I watch!

Just spotted Sinbad on Sunday Brunch! He’s in a stage version of Little Shop of Horrors!

ShyMaryEllen · 20/09/2026 14:36

Is it me, or is Terry being way OTT about Daniel not being his son? I would be more understanding about it if he had been conceived when Terry and Sue were together, but they weren't, and as far as Sue knew they never would be. Yes, she should have told him earlier, but he's known for ages, and the constant jealous rages seem to me insane. I really don't know what Sue sees in him, or why she puts up with his nonsense and feels guilty all the time.

(I know what's going to happen, which makes sense in context, but I'm not going to post spoilers)

I think once Terry deceided to get back with Sue and bring up Daniel as his son
He should trust her
But hes been utterly vile towards her.

ShyMaryEllen · 20/09/2026 15:01

Yes, that's what I think. He's punching well above his weight with her anyway, but she just puts up with his behaviour.

Yes definitley
Shes far too good for him.

VanillaImpulse · 20/09/2026 17:47

Yes one minute he’s forgiving her and buying her flowers and the next minute he’s ruining their anniversary night. It’s all building up towards the big storyline coming up. I think what we are led to believe is that Barry is planting seeds into Terry’s head about Graeme etc which is building his anger up. Then Barry is being nice to Sue so he can get in her pants

bigTillyMint · 20/09/2026 21:52

Yes that’s what I thought @VanillaImpulse but I agree, it’s weird personality changes all the time

VanillaImpulse · 21/09/2026 00:38

Yes it doesn’t really add up and I think the fact we are getting the episodes in a batch makes it more obvious than when originally shown it was 3 a week.
All that fuss about Terry having an op and has it worked then a total change when it had

VanillaImpulse · 24/09/2026 23:43

Pmsl, Marcia going out on the town hoping to see Philip Schofield! 🤣 He was always in Smash Hits around this time on the pull out posters 😆
