I loved Mick. The big storyline much later was a hard watch, but I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it or can’t remember.
I loved Brookside when it was on, and am enjoying rewatching it now. It’s surprising to me how awful the Grants are. Bobby was such a chauvinist, and as people have said, Sheila does nothing but moan. I didn’t think that at the time, but the characters were a lot older than I was then, so maybe I didn’t identify with them as much.
Karen seemed to have had a personality transplant when she visited recently. She was much more understanding of her mum before she left. Did she graduate? She seemed to be a student then be a journalist with no transition period. I suppose Claire is growing up now, so more time has passed than is obvious when there are 5 episodes a week.
Who buys the Choi’s house? They never seemed real, somehow. Brookie was better with middle class characters than most soaps, but they all came across as actors playing a role. Alison being ‘wacky’ recently, for instance, was painful.
