x2boys · 04/06/2026 00:02

Why waa Rod upset about Tracy cooking egg and chips for tea ??And why was ahe cooking them for him??
It was 1991 ffs they were both working full time and she was his sister i woudnt have cooked for him but if i did he would have liked it or lumped it.

SB1967 · 06/06/2026 02:31

I see the actor Angela Morant has died.
She was in Brookside in the early 90s but even though I watched pretty much every Brookside episode before it began being rubbish in the last few years I can't remember what her character "Barbara Harrison" was all about.
Anyone ?

ShyMaryEllen · 06/06/2026 06:15

She was the mother of Peter Harrison who was involved in a ‘date rape’ storyline. I won’t spoiler it as it was a big story, and there are people who won’t have seen it the first time.

Angela Morant was married to Ben Kingsley, too.

And the actor who played Peter Harrison
Is married to rhe actress who plays Leanne Battersby IRL.

It's a small world, Soapland 😀

VanillaImpulse · 06/06/2026 12:07

It made me laugh when Patricia was getting ready for going out for the day with Thomas to some wetlands centre and she packed a huge changing mat! Did they not have travel type ones back in those days?!

They did. My children were born in the early 90s, and I had a mat that fastened with press studs round the outside of a changing bag.

My kids were not born untill 2006 and 2010

Yes I used to be a Saturday girl in Superdrug in the 90s and they definitely had juices for babies, one was cherry flavoured I remember. Heinz chocolate pudding was a great seller too

ShyMaryEllen · 06/06/2026 14:53

I remember chocolate pudding, but not the juice. Which is not to say it didn't exist, just that my memory is rubbish 😀

Thanks
Don't remember that storyline at all

Although I certainly recognise the actors involved.

Paul2023 · 06/06/2026 21:36

Oh I remember Peter being accused of date rape. Against Diane Corkhills wasn’t it ?

I remember the 90s Brookside, but I’m in 1986 still. I’ve managed to get through almost four years of Brookside in about 9 months!

I was late watching Brookside re-runs on STV because I didn’t even know the channel existed until I started watching Brookside from day one.

I remember Jimmy and Jamie Corkhills but too young to remember Billy and Doreen.

But I’m enjoying the nostalgia and little stories from the 80s.I also didn’t realise Julie Brogan was in it in from the 80s and was connected to the Corkhills.

Yes peter harrison was involved in a date rape story line wirh Diana
Julia was Doreen corkhills mother alrhough she called her Renee and Billy Corkhills mother in law and Tracy and Rods Gran
Im. Not sure why she was kept in it after they all left ?
Maybe its because she waa a likeable and often comedic charachter ?

ShyMaryEllen · 06/06/2026 22:45

Do spoilers count after 30 odd years ? 😀

Paul2023 · 06/06/2026 23:26

😂 Fair point.

I'm assuming that not all of us are ancient, and some will be new to it all. Even the ancient (or so I'm told 😉) can't always remember all the plot lines. I tend to remember the characters and the big events (births, deaths and marriages, basically), but the smaller stuff hasn't stuck at all.

Anyway - just so I know - do we have a policy on spoilers on this thread?

bigTillyMint · 07/06/2026 15:07

I’m ancient and thought I watched all episodes, but I don’t remember that storyline - obvs so ancient that my memory has gone 😂

Paul2023 · 07/06/2026 21:18

I was a teenager in the 90s and remember it well from the mid 90s onwards. I remember a few big story lines from the early 90s

Im enjoying the 1980s Brookside , having being too young to remember watching it at the time.

I cant remember most of these story lines i know i watched it my Dad was a big fan and we watched the saturday omnibus
In 1991 i would have been 17 and at college but i would have watched the Saturday omnibus but i must have blanked it out

Paul2023 · 07/06/2026 22:58

Oh yes I remember the omnibus, watching on dark winter afternoons. I only had four channels so there wasn’t exactly much else on for young people at that time of day !
The 90s seems so dated now !

ShyMaryEllen · 08/06/2026 00:17

It does, but when someone talks about the 90s in my head it is the recent past😀

NCTDN · 18/06/2026 22:08

I’m loving watching all the old episodes but am at the point where I might have to give up as Tony is just too annoying!!

x2boys · 19/06/2026 07:28

Im.finding it all rather tedious at the moment with Max and Tony and his antics .
