Thanks for the new thread
Anyone if we are getting another ten episodes tomorrow with it being NYE?

bigTillyMint · 30/12/2025 16:24

Thanks for the new thread - I can’t believe we’ve filled a whole thread up!

Was it 10 episodes on Christmas Eve AND 10 episodes NYE?

I think we might be.

Paul2023 · 30/12/2025 18:36

I’m still way behind in 1984 but remember some of the characters from when UK Living repeated Brookside form the beginning in the mid 1990s.
Sorry if I keep going backwards !

I believe you lot are all in 1990 now. Is this when the Collins family and Harry Cross leave whilst the Farnham and Dixons move in?

They are all still there at the moment though Harry has just gone off to the USA…

i am a few episodes behind but I have to comment on the depiction of the NHS. Sammy’s Mum gets instant and long appointments with her GP who can’t wait to listen to her ruminations … over a cuppa!!! Daniel was released from hospital but came home a few afternoons first to get used to it. I was late teens early 20s in this era so, whilst not a heavy user of the NHS, I wasn’t aware of quite such paternalism … indeed if anything I recall very long waiting lists, though access to a GP may have been better than now.

I believe so yes the whole of the Collins family were written out after the sad untimely death of Doreen Sloane who played Annabel Collins
And Harry as a Pp has said has gone to the USA not sure if he returns?
I think the whole close is due for a shake up ?

I think peoole were probably kept in hospital longer ,I started my nurse training in 1993 and some patients were in hospital for fairly standard. Procedures for a couple of weeks
I also think it was easier to get a Drs appointment but tbf ,the relationship with Chrissy Rogers and the GP seems inappropriate.

MoonWoman69 · 30/12/2025 21:30

Yes we do get another 10 episodes tomorrow! I'm going over to my best mates to stay for NYE and I've told my husband I am not setting off until I've watched all 10! So if he wants to watch anything, he can go upstairs!
Sheila is really peeing me off at the moment I have to say! But I am loving the nostalgia of it all.

bigTillyMint · 31/12/2025 14:39

God, Sheila Grant is doin me ed in 😫🤣

Pinkchristmastree6 · 31/12/2025 14:42

Oh hello
I'm watching brookside to
But I'm probably way behind you all
Laura and Johnathan have just moved in and Damon is just together with Debbie.

VanillaImpulse · 04/01/2026 08:46

As well as Sheila, Sue is also doing my head in! Looking at it, they portray the women to be such moaners - Chrissy, Louise, Sue, Sheila, Lucy, Tracy - all mostly sullen and whinging.

Sad to see the last episode with Annabelle. She clearly looked ill and was sitting down in her scenes.

Sweetiedarling7 · 04/01/2026 08:54

All episodes of every series of Brookside are available on the free stv player app. This thread reminded me and have just checked. All seem to be still there.

God yes the women are very whingey paticularly Chrissy
I dont know how Billy puts up with Sheila she's so sanctimonious
Yes it was very sad to see Annabelles, final episode but im thinking they must have had to change the story line quite suddenly due to her death why bring her back for two episodes ?
I was thinking they had lot,s of storyline,s planned with Lucy ,back and Louise ,but becsuse of Doreen Sloanes death they had to wrap them up quickly and not very believably, I honestly don't think Paul and Annabelle would hsve just turned their backs on Louise.

I met Doreen Sloane through my work. I remember her as a warm and engaging person. I was surprised that she, as a well known actress, was so interested in other people and not all ego centric.
She made quite an impression on me when I was a young woman.
I have enjoyed watching her again in Brookside although it has been a bitter sweet experience. I
am glad that I knew her a little and I just wanted to share what I remember of her.

She was a very beautiful elegant lady.

MoonWoman69 · 04/01/2026 12:07

Yes STV has all the episodes from the beginning and releases 5 each Wednesday! I binge watch, then I'm disappointed that I have to wait a week! Christmas Eve and NYE have been great, as they released a bonus 10 those days!
And I agree, Doreen Sloane was a lovely person and played Annabelle superbly. Such a sad end.

NCTDN · 04/01/2026 12:09

I was coming on to say how awful Sheila was as well !
I had the Jason Donovan poster that hattie had!

NCTDN · 04/01/2026 13:02

Who was it that Christie was seeing ? Was it the doctor or one of sammys teachers ?

x2boys · 04/01/2026 13:08

The GP!

NCTDN · 04/01/2026 13:13

Can you imagine that now ?!!

bigTillyMint · 04/01/2026 13:38

How he had time to fit her in 😂

x2boys · 04/01/2026 17:02

Anybody know where Rod is?
I haven't seen him since before xmas in their time and we are in the back end of may now?

bigTillyMint · 04/01/2026 18:27

That’s true! Did Tracey say he was down in London for work?
