Can’t you watch stv on the tv? I just go to the search options.

Yes, me too however, it is glitchy. The sound booms out between part 1 and part 2 and sometimes the player gets stuck and Inhave to come out and in again. The episodes are grouped in five so you can find the right one by skipping through. It also takes me back to where I am up to. I do understand the issue though - I get it with Location Location on channel 4 - unwatchable as I can’t jump to the correct episode of hundreds, I have to scroll
througj them all; go too far and it tips you back to the start and you have to go again!

It plays through the app however you access it, I think. I persevere, but it’s a pain.

VanillaImpulse · 24/04/2026 21:43

I dont find the app on my smart tv too bad and it does go onto the next episode when one finishes. I’ve found pausing it for a long time is a mistake though as it always crashes and I have to restart.

Loving 1990 episodes
We had just bought our first house & had the same sofas as Mick & Josie
At the time I thought the Farnhams house was so trendy and Patricia’s clothes !
Eagerly awaiting the arrival of ‘gangster Barry ‘

It’s weird with the clothes. Some
of them I don’t remember from that year al
all, like Patricia wearing a huge sailor type collar - I thought those were more late
80s. Others are more as I recall like Margaret’s.

Still in 1985, just watched the siege. Too young to see it back then but still holds up well today. Some good acting..

The armed police with no helmets or body armour.. how matter of fact they were when questioning Pat and Sandra. No apparent offers of counselling or aftercare.

Edna’s strike , so realistic and still as relevant today .

Just catching up on recent episodes - seems to be a lot on buying stuff on tick, but was it when credit cards just started getting popular? I remember those old imprinted machines that were used with carbon papers!

Also men’s haircuts for 25p!!!

Hmm yes, 1988-1992 I had part time jobs in shops and although credit cards were very much around, credit was harder to get and, in my working class area, there was a dim view taken of using a credit card for the food shop or basic goods. I think the catalogues offering credit were still going strong. Mind you, Doe took out credit cards for her fireplace, shuttered etc! And look where that led!! 😂

Just a few years ago I did a xmas shop and paid on my credit card - I put everything on there to track spending and get rewards. The woman who served me said in a kindly way, ‘ oh it really helps at xmas doesn’t it?’ I was lost for a moment then all the memories of attitudes to credit came rushing back. I had totally forgotten this was a very common view that credit cards were for when you were desperate and a form of debt, rather than a normal way of paying for stuff.

That whole storyline is soapland insanity! ‘Undercover’ cop in your own city, working with the public! And for what? I may have missed the point as I was multitasking, but isnt it petty stock pilfering?? And there are two of them doing it!!!

Yes but then it got into the dog fighting thing
But yes in your own city is bad enough but the supermarket must be local aa margaret was shopping there ,they could have at least found him a supermarket at the other side of liverpool

I’m on episode 883 and it sounds like the theme music has been re-recorded with instruments rather than synth?

OP posts:
VanillaImpulse · 12/05/2026 22:53

Yes the theme tune got updated at the start of 1991

Paul2023 · 30/05/2026 21:36

Well I’m now in 1986. I only started watching last November so managed to get through the first few years.
It’s really picking up now that the original Corkhills have arrived.
I remember Julie Brogan from the 90s but had no idea she was connected to the Corkhills and had been it in quite early on... But Billy and Doreen had long gone by the time I remember watching it..

FredaMountfitchet · 30/05/2026 23:05

Max is actually quite fanciable - totally passed me by in 1990 .
Loving the little memory pings
Sammy’s Next carrier
Patricia’s Ark kitchen products
The mk2/3 VwGolf
Sue getting a credit card interest rates were around 24% on credit cards back then
Just love it all .
Such a nostalgia fest

bigTillyMint · 31/05/2026 10:25

Max is NOT fanciable!
However, Mick Johnson …. 🤣

There’s a lot on the dangers of credit cards

Paul2023 · 31/05/2026 13:32

Going back in time now , I find it hard to believe Heather would meet Nick, marry , and leave him all within a year ! For someone as cautious as she was!
And Nick seems the most unlikely drug addict- middle aged man with a professional job..He was also quite a bit older than Heather.
Actor Alan Rothwell died very recently too, aged 89. He’s actually 20 years older than Amanda Burton.

I think that was supposed to be the point
Nick didnt look like what most peoole thought a Heroin addict would look like
I think it was for shock value

Famua · 31/05/2026 18:52

I’m almost ‘up to date’ and the clothing is blowing my mind. I love much of Patricia’s wardrobe - she had a lovely
grey jumper with broad collar on recently - but we are in the early 90s and she is wearing a shawl outside her coat which I think dates back a few years to mid to end 80s. And as
for the huge coats, the youngest Dixon boy and his pal - they look like they date to the early 80s! Meanwhile Margarent looks pretty normal and could pass now - maybe because she’s from Oldham and isn’t a Liverpool native!

Chrissie also has the shawl over the coat look 😄

VanillaImpulse · 01/06/2026 00:49

Josie’s earrings are very early 90s, I remember having some like that

Shes also fond on a trench coat which i remember being fashionable in the early 90,s.

VanillaImpulse · 01/06/2026 15:23

I love watching it to see all the fashions of the time. Shell suits are popular with the teenagers. Not a fan of Barry Grant’s wardrobe (apart from the suits).

Yep Jackies perm and her shell suit takes me right back 😂
And i think Sammie has been sporting a few waist coats ?
I loved a waist coat in the 90,s i had quite a few .

bigTillyMint · 01/06/2026 17:01

I’m loving Sammy and Margaret’s jumpers, especially Sammys with the roses on the yoke - it was a great time for patterned jumpers!
