I’ve loved him since brothers and sisters.

Ive just watch the first episode and I don’t know whether to clean the kitchen first or just watch the second one. I don’t know how many have dropped but it is so good. She is her usual worried manic sell and he is a very good baddie.

i hope sone of you will agree with me

It was well acted and had a satisfactory ending too.

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 28/11/2025 17:12

Makes me want to do a rewatch of The Americans! MR is fantastic in that too.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 30/11/2025 05:43

i avoided t his thread after seeing the spoiler!
finished it now
after about episode 4 it became too much.
it was great up until then

Clearinguptheclutter · 30/11/2025 22:20

Just finished it and loved it

been a fan of Clare Danes for decades. Matthew Rhys more recently and he was just terrific (and not just his accent).

one thing is bothering me though - he didn’t fess up to murdering Abbott did he, so Erika was presumably still wondering what happened to him.

Italiangreyhound · 30/11/2025 23:53

Doingtheboxerbeat I just love Claire Danes in Homeland, she is so great.

Italiangreyhound · 30/11/2025 23:56

I found The Beast in me a very slow starter. It took about 4 episodes in to get going.

But in the end it was good and I loved it.

I found it hard to find anyone 'nice' or 'approachable' in it. They were all hard work. But it was good and Claire Danes looked amazing at the end (having looked pretty ragged all the way through).

MrsLargeEmbodied · 01/12/2025 06:11

he got 3 life sentences though so must have confessed about Abbott @Clearinguptheclutter

Yes she had make up on 😂

Fair point he did. I’d still have liked proper closure on that score though and some kind of update on Erica

Italiangreyhound · 01/12/2025 14:41

She also had a nicer hairstyle!

BigDogJR · 01/12/2025 18:54

Was Erica only sleeping with Abbott to keep an eye on him?

Italiangreyhound · 03/12/2025 19:20

I wondered that BigDogJR but I think she fancied him too.

Yes I agree. I got to the end of episode 2 and thought do I want to continue but it really did pick up and the end was fantastic.

renthead · 04/12/2025 22:54

Just finished this tonight. We loved it, but I agree that it was slow to start. I wasn’t really into it until episode 3, but then it really took off. Also a little bit skeptical of the Nina/Nile scene in the final episode. I loved the ending though; I got chills when she looked from the book to the baby and then got that look on her face!

@BigDogJRI think Erika and Abbott’s relationship was genuine

lucie62 · 05/12/2025 20:46

OMG, I hadn’t realised it was Claire Danes. I said to OH that I was sure she was someone really famous and he looked her up and told me that she wasn’t!

Piemam · 05/12/2025 23:55

I think that's testament to how good Claire Danes really is, @lucie62 !

Definitely. I just knew I knew her. He’s 2 years younger than me so R&J just wasn’t a thing to him. I even sang him Lovefool for good measure!

Clearinguptheclutter · 06/12/2025 10:55

I have just seen a recent video of Matthew Rhys in Wales speaking Welsh (fluently). He just looks and sounds like a proper welshy and so relaxed. I think he’s just an amazing actor.

as is CD but her character wasn’t a million miles away from what she did in Homeland

Italiangreyhound · 06/12/2025 11:33

Claire Danes is an amazing actor! I just love her. Even the crying chin wobble!

sequinpanties · 06/12/2025 11:42

I think the best bit was him dancing to Psycho Killer 😂😂😂

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 06/12/2025 14:28

I did feel like I was watching Carrie Mathers (down to her crossbody bag) and Phil Jennings throughout!
But not a bad thing as love both characters!

Sweetiedarling7 · 21/11/2025 08:31

Can anyone tell me if the dog is ever in any jeopardy please?
I started watching this yesterday but had to turn it off because I can’t watch anything where I am then spending all my time worrying and ready to press stop.
Appreciate it’s not real and many may think I am mad.

Not sure if you’ve heard of it, but there’s a website called doesthedogdie.com - basically a trigger warning site but I always check it as soon as I see a dog in a movie/tv show 😂

MR was absolutely superb in The Americans wasn't he? Difference between Phil Jennings and Nile is that Phil wasn't a psycho

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 13/12/2025 09:56

That’s true… though he did get that same menacing look from time to time - even though he was the reasonable one!
I still think of poor old Paige on that train platform!

Oh god yes, poor girl. At least Henry had Stan.
And it was all for nothing as USSR collapsed anyway. I always wondered about Oleg too, he did the right thing and got locked up for it.
