I’ve loved him since brothers and sisters.

Ive just watch the first episode and I don’t know whether to clean the kitchen first or just watch the second one. I don’t know how many have dropped but it is so good. She is her usual worried manic sell and he is a very good baddie.

i hope sone of you will agree with me

I can’t enjoy CD’s excellent acting for all her angst and anxiety: all the characters she plays need to get a collective grip of themselves. It’s so distracting having to watch her battle her emotions all the time.

MR’s portrayal of his character was incredible. He got menacing just right, and I loved how he looked exhausted and a bit bloated in the final scenes/interviews with Aggie.

His hair dye job was awful though, distractingly black!

I LOVE that CD looks like an actual human woman without enhancements or surgery.

The Succession-style focus on ostentatious wealth was unnecessary to the plot and gratuitous. Felt like a “necessary” hook for a certain demographic.

There were only two bits where you actually saw any violence - the art gallery and the dog bite. The dog bite was the only close-up violent scene.

Oh come on!

Seeing Niles beat his wife's face to a pulp was horrendous.

RamsaySnowsSausage · 23/11/2025 18:37

I liked it but it did drag a bit - lots of repetitive scenes; ex won't listen and storms off/slams door/hangs up, Nile being over-the-top campy creepy, Aggie sighing, wringing her hands and looking furtive alone in the huge house, Nina being Stepford-y. I know they can't just act rationally and get to the point or there would have been no show as she would have sold the house 3 years before it even started 😂but there is a bit of a balance to be had.

I was disappointed to find out what happened to Madison, I think it could have been a lot more inventive and interesting.

But worth a watch and more engaging than most stuff about at the moment.

RamsaySnowsSausage · 23/11/2025 18:57

Definitely thought Nile would end up being the sperm donor for the deceased son. Something about him not wanting a known legacy to spite his dad but wanting to spread his seed anonymously. And he nefariously tracked his bio offspring so wanted to get to know CD to see if she was partly to blame for his death so he could punish her if needed and would also give an enhanced reason for what he did to the drunk driver.

Thought I was such a clever dick for working this out!!

I might rewrite it with my naff ideas 😂

LittlePotteryBird · 23/11/2025 20:00

Can anyone who’s seen all of this advise me please . I’ve got to episode 5 and have now seen the later episodes feature ‘suspicion and betrayal’; does it feature infidelity at all? It’s a trigger for me and I try to avoid programs that include it, which is pretty difficult. 😞

No.

As for Aggie's jackets 😬 ( missing the point here 😂)

Yes, the art gallery. I agree it's horrific but you don't see any of the violence in close-up. You see the aftermath in long shot.

hattie43 · 24/11/2025 06:57

He’s quite frightening in some of the ‘ rage ‘ scenes , very good actor not previously on my radar . I did get a bit fed up though of CD’s dramatic over acting on the wobbling lip , scrunched face dramatics because I don’t think people would react with such drama in RL . The ending was a bit obvious though .

IcedPurple · 24/11/2025 07:50

I don't agree with the 'gratuitious violence' criticism. There were only a few violent scenes in all 8 episodes, and all of them were essential to the plot and character portrayal. The 'violence' we saw was mostly of the psychological nature.

Violetparis · 24/11/2025 07:59

I enjoyed this, really good acting, best thing I've watched on Netflix for ages.

Just started it. Enjoying it but CD is exhausting to watch in anything she does - that permanent highly-strung / on the ragged edge style gets on my nerves. Is she like that in real life? I want to binge it as DH is away this weekend but I can only stand so much of her at any one time.

She does my head in, she’s too agitated constantly and her face is always screwed up. But I’m still watching 🤣

the80sweregreat · 24/11/2025 19:41

I do agree that the actress playing Aggie is exhausting! It sums her up in this.
I saw that Jodie Foster is one of the producers on the credits. She has a similar acting style too , edgy and you’re waiting for her to have a kind of breakdown at any moment. I know she has a lot going on, but the tension is just relentless.

Her clothes were horrendous baggy and shapeless proper frump yet I’m sure if she’d not been gay they would have had her in nice stylish clothes so predictable

Holluschickie · 25/11/2025 07:46

I loved Aggie's clothes and would like to dress like her.

EachandEveryone · 25/11/2025 11:47

Oh she dressed terribly and yes it was because she’s a lesbian. So bland and shapeless

Aggie is so wired…I don’t know how sone one can exist in that state of anxiety

thankgoditssaturday · 26/11/2025 02:36

@Radiator981plenty of people do. Are you living in a bubble?

CheeseIsMyIdol · 26/11/2025 02:40

I haven’t liked CD since her horrible whiny turn as Beth in “Little Women” some 30 years ago. But love MR, so will give it a go.

I know. I know anxious people but no-one who is even half of what she’s like. It’s the actress rather than the character

berlinbaby2025 · 26/11/2025 08:38

I think the part requires that wired state of acting. She's not always like this in her performances.

Holluschickie · 26/11/2025 08:39

I'd be wired in her circumstances.

KnickerlessParsons · 26/11/2025 09:35

I finished watching this last night and thought it was excellent, with a good, solid, satisfactory ending.
So many series seem to trail off, like the writer thought of a great story then couldn’t think how to end it.

BigDogJR · 27/11/2025 23:03

I quite liked that she was in realistic WFH clothes.

I do remember an interview with CR around the time of Homeland where she said people made comments about her wobbly chin as she cried or was anxious a lot as Carrie.

Hmmm no I’m not! I have a husband with OCD. So I know anxiety. I’ve seen him have panic attacks. But he’s not as wired as Aggie…
