Well this looks interesting. Creepy af.

Not the usual type of viewing for me. But I like the writer so I'm giving it a go.

Anyone else watching?

@RunSlowTalkFast - yes, guess it could be. But the dead ones would run out eventually, and then they might be a bit stuck? Suppose they could just keep using the ones that die naturally...if they do....they could live forever!

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 01/12/2025 19:48

@boatyardblues - ooh, I like this. That makes sense (in the context of the programme!)

This is all very exciting. I really should get out more...

Rousillon849 · 01/12/2025 19:48

Like the "fruitarian" who Hugh Grant dates once in Notting Hill, who only eats fruit and veg that has fallen off its own accord. "So, this carrot? Yes. Murdered." They eat people but they don't kill them.

@boatyardblues I like the logic behind (if not the sound of) your theory.

boatyardblues · 01/12/2025 19:50

Can anyone remember what research the lab scientists at the beginning were doing on the rats? I think there will be a clue in that.

My theory is that it’s specifically babies and toddlers in the warehouse. Their brains aren’t developed enough to cope with the hive mind & all that amassed knowledge, plus they are pre-verbal & will jam up the frequency with gibberish. We haven’t seen any in shot as far as I can remember. Also, it means the human race would be on a path to extinction if everyone stays connected & there can be no more babies. If the unaffected Indian woman with kids is pregnant that might be enough to turn her to Carol’s side.

My son asked why they’d store the bodies. I think it might be because they need something from their bodies to produce whatever they’re putting in the milk cartons, maybe growth hormones or something like stem cells that are present in higher quantities in young humans.

They don't show many children so could be.

I just think that Carol's reaction seems a bit off for something like that

They were doing something with the signal I think

boatyardblues · 01/12/2025 19:57

Thanks Duncin. I asked DH and he said “the DNA sequence” so he agrees.

They were injecting rats with the ‘virus’ that was sequenced from the code in the signal to see what happened.

WeJustWantYouToBeHappy · 01/12/2025 20:33

I think the ‘human derived protein’ is made from babies and toddlers, it took Carol a while to react with horror at what she’d seen so maybe they’d been butchered already and weren’t instantly recognisable as body parts?

KylieKangaroo · 01/12/2025 20:58

My theory was dead dogs and now reading here I can see that's a bit of a silly theory 😅🐕‍🦺 woof woof anyway

DuncinToffee · 01/12/2025 21:08

it was the dog food that brought Carol there, I don't think it is that silly.

I haven't noticed any cats or dogs around.

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 01/12/2025 22:23

And I'm curious as to why there are people who are not affected. And why can't the hive take them by force?

LushLemonTart · 05/12/2025 17:27

Am watching 👁👁

Interesting. Fascinated about how Paraguay man is going to get to Carol. As it happens, right before this week's episode of Plur1bus, I watched Celebrity Race Across The World, and was reminded of the Darién Gap. He can't drive there, can he? Maybe as well as his ham radio skills, he can fly a plane?

WeJustWantYouToBeHappy · 05/12/2025 21:07

Next week’s episode is called The Gap!

AHA!

DuncinToffee · 05/12/2025 21:23

Oooh, we were just wondering the same.

Enjoyed that episode

EleanorPeck · 05/12/2025 23:05

Loved the Casino Royale scene and the cameo from you know who. I'm really enjoying this series.

Rousillon849 · 06/12/2025 08:46

Was anyone else else pondering the moral implications of what the seemingly genial and kind Diabaté is up to?

KylieKangaroo · 06/12/2025 09:10

Oh yes 100 percent, he seems very happy living that lifestyle though.

boatyardblues · 06/12/2025 09:42

I’m rewatching this week’s episode with DH and DS. DS just said “ugh, Lamborghini Hurricanes! What an obvious choice.” He wasn’t impressed. He says a Ferrari 290 GTO or a Rolls Royce Wraith would have been classier choices.

I’m excited for next week’s episode.

Yes, I have pondered the same. The hive mind oblige requests without judgement, however outlandish or improper, and yet are so hardline about their dietary principles. Will there come a point when they apply tge same critical thinking to their unmelded human charges?

DuncinToffee · 06/12/2025 09:46

Who was he talking to about Carol being lonely? Them or another survivor?

boatyardblues · 06/12/2025 09:50

I assumed another survivor.
