Well this looks interesting. Creepy af.

Not the usual type of viewing for me. But I like the writer so I'm giving it a go.

Anyone else watching?

We are watching and are hooked. I have a theory about what Carol found just before this week’s cliffhanger. I have shared it with DH and DS. They said it’s a good theory.

MarxistMags · 30/11/2025 23:51

DH and I are watching this and really enjoying it. Very unusual and quirky and definitely worth a watch.

Ooo what is it? Dm me if you don't want to spoil it.

Do you mean what she found when she peaked under the plastic sheets? I thought it was fairly well signposted? Or do you mean something else?

KylieKangaroo · 01/12/2025 17:57

I have a theory what it is too but only after reading on Reddit! Can't wait for the next episode

LushLemonTart · 01/12/2025 18:02

I wish it was all over in one series. But there's more to come. Makes me wonder how they can stretch it out?

Come on spill the theories?

I am missing something, as I can only think of another related solution and I don’t think it’s that.

@LushLemonTart I’ll DM you.

DuncinToffee · 01/12/2025 18:19

I don't mind to discuss the theories here.

It's part of the fun

DuncinToffee · 01/12/2025 18:26

I don't think it's people as she would have looked more terrified.

Rousillon849 · 01/12/2025 18:59

Yes, @FishfingerFlinger. Uninteresting and just annoying. I expect that it's deliberate so that when the full enormity and grossness of what the deceptively gentle hive mind is up to we will be regretful we didn't side with her from the beginning.

@boatyardblues and @KylieKangaroo and everyone, I had a theory too, but I wondered if it was too obvious (I'm not usually one for cottoning on to obscure stuff), and also too much of a copy of the film I imagine we're all thinking of to fit in with such a quirky and unusual show. What do you think?

LushLemonTart · 01/12/2025 19:06

Oh haven't we sided with Carol? I certainly have.

We agree with Carol. Something very odd going on......

RunSlowTalkFast · 01/12/2025 19:16

Body parts seems the obvious answer but I feel like it's too obvious.

oh I am definitely on her side in so much as I think it is the ‘normal’ reaction to feel horrified and unable to accept what had happened. But it does feel quite hard a character that is so emotionally closed off to carry the weight of a whole series.

I assumed bodies being made into the powder that is then made into the drink.

It quite obvious but I don’t think big cliffhangers are necessarily the style of the show? They didn’t make anything much of the apparent cliffhanger of Carol nearly killing Zosha last week.

I definitely have.

I’m happy to post my theory but it’s on the dark side.

Rousillon849 · 01/12/2025 19:41

I find it hard to get past Carol's rudeness and entitlement. I know I should be more empathetic - and I of course think there's something dodgy going on that needs uncovering - but that's not the reaction her behaviour elicits in me.

Laxmi (I think it was her) said to Carol, "haven't you asked them what it feels like?", and that resonated.

@LushLemonTart, I think some of us suspect that the white powder is people, like in the film Soylent Green. If it is, will we feel cheated? I think it will feel like a bit of a cheap twist to me, having been done in the film before. I'm hoping for something more mind-blowing.

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 01/12/2025 19:42

@boatyardblues - I for one definitely want to know your theory! I don't have a clue!

Please spill (unless others start begging you not to...)

Yeah I think they're pointing to it being bodies but it'll be something else.

boatyardblues · 01/12/2025 19:44

My theory is that it’s specifically babies and toddlers in the warehouse. Their brains aren’t developed enough to cope with the hive mind & all that amassed knowledge, plus they are pre-verbal & will jam up the frequency with gibberish. We haven’t seen any in shot as far as I can remember. Also, it means the human race would be on a path to extinction if everyone stays connected & there can be no more babies. If the unaffected Indian woman with kids is pregnant that might be enough to turn her to Carol’s side.

My son asked why they’d store the bodies. I think it might be because they need something from their bodies to produce whatever they’re putting in the milk cartons, maybe growth hormones or something like stem cells that are present in higher quantities in young humans.

RunSlowTalkFast · 01/12/2025 19:44

Why don't people want to share theories? That's completely different to spoilers so I don't see why it's a problem?

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 01/12/2025 19:44

How can it be people if all the people (apart from the ones who died) are simply now part of the hive mind? And aren't they supposed to be vegetarian? And they won't kill anything for eating purposes....

Yeah the ones who died.
