What did we all think of Game of Wool then?

Personally I thought it was mostly all about Tom Daley - did he really have to try all the tank tops on himself? And also that there is never going to be enough time for each challenge for the contestants to make something worthwhile. Who would actually use a knitted sofa cover?
It’s such a condensed version of the challenge, we won’t get time for much witty banter either.

The jury is still out for me.

And students Isaac is still in why?

I am a knitter but not a crocheter. I didn't like the challenge last week and think the doggie knitting is ridiculous.

The issue is that knitting takes time and you cannot make a jumper in 6 hours, so they had to go for chunky yarn which spoiled the fair isle effect.

Don't like that women have been knitting for centuries but as soon as a celeb man does it, they are beating down his door to make it into a show.

Holger seems to be so good at paring the challenges back to the specification and then building his creation around that rather than throwing a concept at the specification and hoping that they coincide. I like him.

The lady with the black dress and straight dark hair has a great shawl. I recognise the designer. it's very nicely knitted.

I like Holgar but he is very sure that he is right and I think working with him unless you just do things his way would be difficult

Looks like a Westknits design. If I wore shawls I'd spend a fortune on their patterns.

The Shetland knitters are not happy!

Right decisions. Meadow seems like a lovely girl but I wonder if having her on the show when she isn't a very good knitter and isn't very emotionally robust was maybe a misjudgement.

Overall, I thought that episode was a lot better than the first, with more considered input from the judges and a bit of explanation of knitting techniques.

We’ve enjoyed watching but not really for the reasons we assume the makers had in mind. We still can’t believe anyone made this programme. Crocheting ‘iconic’ hats for dogs! Oh my word! I think others have made the point that it would be perfectly possible to make a good programme about knitting but this is not it. Memorably bizarre!

Those poor dogs. The sense of shame was palpable.

Good to see these knitters have some creativity, a Freddie Mercury costume, a David Bowie costume and a unicorn. How incredibly original.

And why is everyone doing everything for the first time? Shouldn't these people be somewhat accomplished? Or were they chosen by some other criteria?

Laughed my way through the whole thing, again. It's brilliantly awful.

I bake and love Bake Off. Sew and love the Sewing Bee. I don’t pot but the Pottery Throwdown is ok.

I have knitted for 50+ years and am
a competent crocheter but this is awful. Cringeworthy. They’re not competent enough and the judges don’t add anything but hyperbole.

I haven’t finished this episode and that’s me done. What a shame.

I’m so disappointed in this. It could have been so good. I don’t mind Tom, he’s not awful as host but the challenges are awful - chunky awful tank tops and hats for dogs? Wtf?? And team challenges?

No. They should have a challenge like: knit a beanie incorporating cable work. Or, make a cowl in 4ply, at least two colours, lace work. Or a baby cardigan.

the judges are awful. Zero personality. And the knitters are poor. Only the fair haired Scottish girl seems to know what she’s doing.

Thoroughly agree. Starting off with a baby cardigan would have been wonderfully wholesome and actually showed skill in the time they have.

Many of the contestants strike me as being neuro diverse. No one seems to know what they're doing. What a mess.

I used to knit with my nanny as a child and have fond memories. I've been thinking of taking it back up again but this show is making me cringe.

The production team should have taken a leaf out of Tales of the Green Valley.

Pretty sure she said she's autistic last time so probably more that than a gen z thing.

I’m just watching Ep 2 now. Those poor dogs!
And the judges actually said “it doesn’t really work for the dog” about one of the outfits, with a straight face.
I feel the same as I do about the recycle challenge in Sewing Bee - it’s such a waste of the yarn.

Holger's expertise is way above the others. He continues to excel. I loved the balloon sleeves on his dog outfit. His ability to zoom right in on design and construction as well as competent knitting is impressive.
