We seem to have actually filled a thread so I’ve started a new one

KEEP DANCING!

@C8H10N4O2 totally. I think I also respect Tess for the awful decisions wardrobe made over the years she just went with! Thinking about it, both are quite relatable in that way. Tess is an absolutely stunning woman but seems to have no vanity in comparison to (for example) the judges on Britain's Got Talent and Amanda Holden trying to be a naked as possible on TV before the watershed.....

I’m loving Alan Carr on Celebrity Traitors having been indifferent to him previously

Usually when a celebrity does well in a reality/competition, they get more jobs or a highbrow job. Alan would be great doing the Clauditurium

willstarttomorrow · 23/10/2025 21:05

@Mokel Alan is great but not sure how he would replace Claudia. It needs to be someone who loves the bonkers, sparkling loveliness that is strictly and want the best for every contestant, however crap. I think La Voix would be amazing, I have known of her for years and met her a couple of time through friends. She is really warm, funny and can think on her feet. I know lots of Mumsnet hate drag, but she is old school and probably as close as there is to the wonderful Paul O'Grady as Lily Savage.

Over my dead body. I'll chain myself to something in protest.

willstarttomorrow · 23/10/2025 21:24

@Guildford321 Why?

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 23/10/2025 21:32

Sarah Greene would be good

willstarttomorrow · 23/10/2025 21:33

@Guildford321, I ask because La Voix is not controversial in any way. Not part of the trans debate, not a drag act that is negative towards women. She has put up with loads of shite over the years for being who she is and is a positive advocate for many people. Her father is an absolute legend in the way he has supported her and both have done so much good for people who do not fit into the mainstream. None of this has been at the detriment to women's rights. She is warm, kind and funny.

@Guildford321 Why?

I think the answer is in the question!

I know lots of Mumsnet hate drag

willstarttomorrow · 23/10/2025 21:52

@WarrenTofficier yep. I just get so pissed off with the lack of compassion, inability to understand nuance and vilification of marginalised people who already have so much shite to deal with. They are not all women haters/sexual predators. I absolutely agree women's spaces need to be protected. But the venom directed towards trans people on this website it totally out of proportion to actual reality and risk to the general population. I work in child protection and the trans teenagers I work with are significantly more at risk from the general population than they pose.

To clarify, La Voix is not trans and is a drag queen and has been for many years. Absolute old school, funny as hell and has never been over sexualised/thrown shade at women. A complete sweetheart

I cannot refer to a man as "she"!

Yep. Quite rightly.
Would anyone be up for a white bloke, done up as a black bloke, like a Black and White Minstrel?
Thought not.

WarrenTofficier · 23/10/2025 22:00

My dislike of drag isn't personal towards drag artists. I dislike it because I don't think woman is a costume. I think that even nice kind funny lovely drag acts do harm women even if that not their intent (both this run of Strictly and the Christmas run were short on women and rightly or wrongly it feels like the men in dresses were taking a spot from women, because they didn't come out of the 'mens' place allocation. They perpetuate the stereotype of women as heels and hair.

Why are you calling him 'she'?

Neither do I.
And I refused to watch last year's Christmas Special because a TW won it.
Hmm

willstarttomorrow · 23/10/2025 22:30

@WarrenTofficier I respect your opinion, although I beg to differ. I understand why my viewpoint is controversial and accept other people's opinions. I will refer to La Voix as she as that is how they refer to themselves when in drag. Just like some of us are Mrs, Miss, Ms, Mx. I do not consider it a big deal and makes no difference to me, just respecting their choice. I understand why some people have an issue with this, it is not a hill I choose to die on. I do not want to derail this thread debating this issue. We all have our own points of view and beliefs

A TW didn't win what are you talking about ?

Guildford321 · 23/10/2025 22:50

If mumsnet ever deletes a message of mine like that again (refusing to refer to a man as a woman), I'll cancel my account. I may only be one person but every member counts and they can't afford to lose members. Absolutely fucking ridiculous.

willstarttomorrow · 23/10/2025 22:51

@Coffeeishot apparently drag and trans are interchangeable on mumsnet and both are the enemy
