We seem to have actually filled a thread so I’ve started a new one

KEEP DANCING!

@Coffeeishot apparently drag and trans are interchangeable on mumsnet and both are the enemy

<sigh> eh

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 23/10/2025 23:08

It's irrelevant anyway, because La Voix hasn't been asked to present SCD and unless he is, there is no point discussing him.

He won’t be asked either as no track record in presenting live TV. There is a world fo difference between the skills of stand up responding to heckling and comments (which he is very good at) and presenting live on a complex piece of television and keeping the focus on the guests rather than yourself whilst seeming entirely natural.

There is a reason very few people are known for this - most people, even in TV cannot do it.

willstarttomorrow · 23/10/2025 23:26

@C8H10N4O2 absolutely he/she/they will not even be a contender but in my opinion- and this is just my opinion- I think they would be great. Claudia will be a hard act to follow and it will need to be someone as quick and funny but also with an absolute love for the show and contestants.

WarrenTofficier · 23/10/2025 23:33

She has put up with loads of shite over the years for being who she is

Either he is a man who plays a role or there is an element of seeing himself as a woman. If it is the former why would be regarded as being who they are rather than who they are playing?

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 23/10/2025 22:52

Someone must have reported your post.
MN is a post moderated site.

Yup and mumsnet saw fit to respond to that report by deleting my comment, which quite simply stated biological facts.

The problem is a stand up responding to heckling/audience is keeping themselves at the centre.

A lot of stand ups, even really good audience handlers, don’t translate to the format of encouraging others to be centre and talk about themselves. There is no way of knowing if Chris will translate to that format and as LaVoix the character will always be the spotlight. SCD is too big to try a total newbie but Chris as himself might work on ITT. Plus I really like the two woman presenter format on this show - I think its worked really well for Strictly since Tess and Claudia took over.

nomdegrrr1 · 23/10/2025 23:57

Whoever takes the 'Tess' job is going to have their hands full. They are going to have the producers shouting in their ear while trying to get the celeb and pro to hit their mark, being encouraging (Tess is predictable and unoriginal but she's been reacting for twenty years so it's reasonable to be in something of a groove and she's been pretty positive to the contestants, even in the face of disaster) and keep the judges on track.

Whoever is the new Tess will have to be able to keep up with the unexpected, deflect and redirect badly thought out comments, and stay looking cool no matter what wardrobe has thrown at them.

I've never been a particular fan of Tess, but now I think about how she must be juggling a gazillion things while keeping the smile in place, I can't help wonder if she'll find a new niche after this where she flourishes.

Completely agree. Tess gets a lot of flak but I think she actually has a tough role (well in TV terms, she's not saving lives!)

Maybe Sara cox to replace Tess and Mel and sue in the clauditorium

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 24/10/2025 08:22

Maybe Sara Cox

Gosh No!

OP posts:
Bluffinwithmymuffin · 24/10/2025 08:32

Also please no to Sara Cox.
Holly Willoughby and Bradley Walsh have been mooted in papers today, which imo is worse.

Coffeeishot · 24/10/2025 08:35

The most surprising suggestion i heard on TV this morning. Hannah Waddingham i adore her but I can't see her doing it.

JeffTheSquirrel · 24/10/2025 08:36

I’d be happy with Mel as the Claudia replacement.

For the Tess, tricky one but I’m gonna bet on Zoe Ball. I’m not a fan really, but she fits the mould.

She’d be great though wouldn’t she?

I mean she is an actual Queen she would be great,

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 24/10/2025 08:42

I’d like Hannah Waddingham but she’s more acting /singing and in recent years a star on the rise

OP posts:
JeffTheSquirrel · 24/10/2025 08:51

Hannah Waddingham wouldn’t do this, surely. She’s far too big a name. I like her and think she would be brilliant, but it’d be a real step down.

Coffeeishot · 24/10/2025 09:25

Oh yeah huge name, I was just surprised her name was thrown in, but i think the media is just getting names from Strictly threads 😀

LittleBitofBread · 24/10/2025 09:32

willstarttomorrow · 23/10/2025 22:30

@WarrenTofficier I respect your opinion, although I beg to differ. I understand why my viewpoint is controversial and accept other people's opinions. I will refer to La Voix as she as that is how they refer to themselves when in drag. Just like some of us are Mrs, Miss, Ms, Mx. I do not consider it a big deal and makes no difference to me, just respecting their choice. I understand why some people have an issue with this, it is not a hill I choose to die on. I do not want to derail this thread debating this issue. We all have our own points of view and beliefs

He refers to himself as a 'he' when not in drag, so I don't know why you're 'they'ing' him.

Anyway, I think he might be fun in the Claudia role, but am not sure he could handle the technical stuff of having an earpiece and having to keep to timings etc.

DancingontheDancefloor · 24/10/2025 10:06

I don't think La Voix, for the same reason as many celebrities could not take these roles.

Not enough presenting experience on live TV to be in the ‘Tess’ role and not funny enough, able to add lib or empathise with celebrities as the ‘Claud’ role demands.

Le Voix takes over, talks over and isn't funny.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 24/10/2025 10:13

Sorry but any talk of La Voix is ludicrous. A barrel scraping choice for the line up fronting the BBC’s flagship show? Give Over.

Kreepture · 24/10/2025 10:21

i've seen Emma Willis thrown in the ring of possibles this morning.. she's more bearable than Holly Willoughby to me.

I think whoever they bring in, they've got some big boots to fill and it will be strange/odd/not feel like the right fit for a few people.

gingercat02 · 24/10/2025 10:27

I agree @EineReiseDurchDieZeit
Strictly willl have to be a household name. Most on here I would switch off.
Emma Willis would be good but is she not tied to ITV? She maybe doing The Voice if it continues. It's a long gig.
I could live with Zoe, or Mel and Sue.
Claude is much harder to replace unless they reformat the whole show and do it differently.
The Strictly brand is quite tainted and toxic, someone well loved might shy away from that.

JoeMarlerseyes · 24/10/2025 10:33

I like Emma Willis. hope its not Holly

Christ if they picked Holly then half the show would be taken up with her asking every contestant if they were ok.
