@dontcallmelen Karen Hardy would be a great judge but I can’t see her captaining the show, it’s not her field of expertise

Yes - preferably in Shirley’s seat.

Yep they need someone who can cope not just with everything going swimmingly but more importantly handle it if things go wrong, the autocue jams, the next performance is held up by a set change issue, a just stop oil protest or (and fingers crossed this is never a situation the host has to deal with) there is a serious injury during the live show that no amount of adrenaline and desire to carry on can over come. Those are the moments live presenters earn their fees.

EsmaCannonball · 23/10/2025 13:57

I agree that the BBC are not going to hand over their flagship show to anyone who isn't already a seasoned live TV presenter. They'll be looking for Graham Norton and Claudia Winkleman but cheaper.

I remember a journalist once posting a comment about watching highbrow actors being terrible and wooden when doing pieces to camera at awards ceremonies and that making you appreciate how good the likes of Ant and Dec are at their particular niche. Presenting live primetime light entertainment and making it look fun and natural is hard.

Please not Davina look at me I'm sooooo zany, hahaha McCall 🙏.

EsmaCannonball · 23/10/2025 14:16

I think they need to find people who can commit to the show. A revolving door of presenters would be disastrous for the brand. On that basis it should be nobody inept, nobody with a whiff of scandal about them and nobody too famous and established to need the gig. I also think it needs to be someone who is a genuine fan of the show. Anyone too arch or above it all would be the kiss of death.

I said on t'other thread too but I'd love it to be Mel and Sue. They were GBBO for me and I stopped watching when they left. I could see Sue in Tess's role and Mel as Claude.

YES!
Although actually I'd like them both in the Clauditorium. Which still leaves the Tess role to fill.

LittleBitofBread · 23/10/2025 14:48

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 23/10/2025 11:28

Yeah that was my first thought too. You'd announce it at the start of end of the series surely. Bit suss IMO.

I assumed they didn't want to announce it at the start because you want the start to be all about the excitement, and to let the new batch of people bed in a bit.

autumngirl714 · 23/10/2025 14:50

I initially thought to Mel and Sue! They have the friendship and dry humour which works well with Claudia and tess!

I just sincerely hope Fluer east doesn’t move over from take two to the main show. I find her REALLY annoying!

I wonder if any others will follow suit and leave after this season. I know Craig has been heavily rumoured to leave soon in the past.

They would both make great Claudia's but I'd love to see Sue using her one liners on Craig when he's in full panto mode.

autumngirl714 · 23/10/2025 14:51

Also I’m predicting balvinder and la vois in the bottom two this week!I do feel for poor Bal as she hasn’t deserved to be in the bottom so often. But I also feel like I don’t know anything about her, we don’t really see her personality!

there could be a shock bottom two though… I don’t think it’ll be long until amber is in the bottom!

EsmaCannonball · 23/10/2025 15:02

I'm predicting Harry and Balvinder for the bottom two. An Argentine Tango to Usher is bad enough but I'm guessing it will be one of those Argentine Tangos where the man stands still. And I like both celebs.

I went down a rabbit hole of watching Argentine Tango videos a while ago. The ones done on Strictly (even the good ones) seem so stiff and spiky in comparison.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 23/10/2025 15:12

If it was Mel and Sue they could surely take it in turns, one presenting, one in the Clauditorium, changing it up every couple of weeks. They’d take it in their stride without a doubt.

New presenters next season will be the ideal time to make changes elsewhere… including with the judges, as a pp said. I’d hate to see Craig go, but it probably won’t be long, sadly.

munchbunch12 · 23/10/2025 15:19

I read the article on Tess and Claudia leaving on the BBC website. At the bottom it invited me to make a comment, so I said they should get Mel and Sue as replacements. Hope they take notice 😁🤞

That would be a-ma-zing.

Mokel · 23/10/2025 15:22

Janette does host the Strictly Tour which happens 2nd half Jan - early March.

WarrenTofficier · 23/10/2025 15:27

The set up in future doesn't have to be the same as the current set up. They could have say Mel and Sue both in the Tess role and and additional person in the Claudia role but it takes a skilled and practiced couple to present together without talking over each other or leaving massive gaps.

You couldn't just throw to randoms together.

LaMarschallin · 23/10/2025 15:29

What's Tess going to do now?
It seems she only has Strictly.

EsmaCannonball · 23/10/2025 15:39

Janette is out of her depth on ITT. She'd be a disaster on the main show. I miss the days when ITT was fun. Now it's a bit painful.
