Just caught up with this season. No in-laws for Rebecca and Bailey? Did I somehow miss it? Or are they just too boring to bother with? (Must confess I’d almost forgotten they were there).

It is like a jigsaw. A lot happens behind closes doors, leigh denied describing her type in the pub with the other contestant, the face injector, the type was similar to Rebecca's look, she denied she had the conversation to crystal, then admitted it to friends in front of leah/crystal.

They don’t seem to have had very much screen time, maybe because there isn’t much drama there….probably a good thing otherwise the producers would put some twist on it.

It's really bad editing, the Australia show is much better at the details.

It is actually weird how little we know of the contestants - all we get are the bits at the very start when they have a summary before the wedding. That's the only way we know anything at all about Sarah, for example, with her mum dying.

We don't even really see their chats at the dinner party unless they're having a bunfight. JR literally sat down and started spouting a very scripted background to the Steven at the bar chat. It's becoming how I imagine Made In Chelsea is, with "normal people" badly reading poorly written scripts and pretending they are in a reality show.

So annoying being behind and not able to post... and now my TV has died and I'm having to watch on the laptop til it comes back from Argos (who decided it needed to be 'repaired' because it's more than two days old).

Anyway. Is it me or is this series a bit weak? I find myself more engrossed in this thread than the programme as I read along! Where is the drama? I mean the real drama, not this bullshit 'he told me to wear a dress' crap.

Shouldn't somebody have fallen out with someone else yet, or decided to make a play for someone else's partner? I mean every woman practically said they want a tall, fit, nice man with tattoos... how are they not flirting with him at the dinner table?

Maybe because they think Maeve might stab them, aye... that's definitely a concern.

As for Dean and Sarah, what a pointless exercise. Things are not going to 'progress'. So why stay? Last year some guy said Jacqui had crazy eyes and when he got railed for it he just left. Isn't that the best course of action? Because no one even remembers him. There's really no need to stay to redeem yourself, just leave, no one will care or remember a thing, staying just makes it worse.

And the new couples, well Jesus that Scottish woman is intensely annoying, talk about desperate... she makes SJP look level headed. The bodybuilder lady seems okay, but her fella looks permanently startled.

I'll tell you why people don't want trans people on MAFS, it's because they are actually really, really boring. They think they have a huge personality but actually their 'personality' is being trans and that seems to be it. Ella was a perfect example of that.

And to be honest it's not just trans people, a lot of gay people on TV are quite tedious as well, like on Sewing Bee. Every week 'I've made a dress out of rainbows... because I'm gay so obviously I had no choice', I think a lot of people have no problem with gay people in principle, it's not their sexuality it's their personality...

But feel free to rip into me for my bigoted views.

And this sort of thing why I will not shut up. If the author of this, and others reading it, can't see anything wrong with what's been written here, then that really is terrifying. You can't tar all trans people with the same brush. You can't tar all gay people with the same brush. Same as you can't tar all straight people with the same brush. That is LITERALLY prejudicial. Awful.

You're right, you can't tar all people with the same brush, in fact I feel quite sorry for gay people who don't feel the need to constantly squeal and throw their hands about, dye their hair purple and walk around with rainbow clothes. In fact I have a gay friend (61 year old man) who tells me this quite often.

And it's quite possible that there are trans people out there who don't constantly push their transness down everyone's throat 24/7, but that's the sort of trans person a TV show like MAFS will select, because they want that drama.

Given that you would think trans people would prefer not to be represented by those type of tiresome, walking cliches, just as I'm sure many fat men would prefer not to be represented by someone like Dean.

You can't tar all fat people with the same brush either as it happens.
