I’ve been waiting for this

meant to be very good

The BBC has released the transmission date for Nine Bodies In A Mexican Morgue – the six-episode series from the mind of Anthony Horowitz.

Starts next Saturday

In the six-part series, a plane carrying a small group of passengers, crew and pilot, crashes in the Mexican jungle.

All the bodies are recovered and placed in a morgue… but it turns out that only one of them died in the crash.

The other passengers were murdered afterwards, each one in a unique way.

But by whom?

And why? As the story unfolds in flashback, we meet the survivors as they fight against the heat, a shortage of supplies, the many dangers of the jungle… and each other.

The setting becomes increasingly tense and claustrophobic as, one by one, they are dispatched with a series of shocks that bring us ever closer to the truth and – at the very end – a jaw-dropping reveal.

The ensemble cast includes Eric McCormack (Will & Grace, Perception), David Ajala (Star Trek: Discovery) as Zack; Lydia Wilson (The Swarm) as Sonja; Peter Gadiot (Yellowjackets) as Carlos; Siobhán McSweeney (Derry Girls) as Lisa; Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (The Tourist) as Travis; Adam Long (Happy Valley) as Dan, and Jan Le (The Capture) as Amy. Filming recently started in the Canary Islands.

I never watched lost but from what people said it’s just as well that I didn’t 😂

Staunch devotee of Lost and the only similarity is the plane crash where weird things happen - i.e. they survive. But I think it's more And Then There Were None, no spoilers because there's obviously one remaining.

The accents are abysmal and not even actual American Eric McCormack sounds American . It's putting me off.

He's Canadian though I believe a naturalised American. Also weirdly, I thought Lydia Wilson (Sonja) who is from London was Australian putting on an accent.

The whole thing feels very theatrical with the obvious set and the dodgy accents but the mystery is intriguing me enough.

Of course he is 🫣 .
The whole thing reminds me of one of those weekday afternoon shows where Doctors used to be .

It's of that standard! The script can be dire. Are there any sympathetic or even believable characters? Some mystery but not expecting a twist.

No spoilers but we've got to episode 4 on iplayer and my DH has bailed. I may see it through as I think there's only two more to watch but I hope it improves.

KnickerlessParsons · 29/09/2025 12:59

Despite all its flaws, I'm still intrigued to find out who dun it, who the missing person is, and who the two people in the car were right at the beginning. I'm going to watch episode 3 on iPlayer tonight I think.

ozarina · 01/10/2025 01:28

Watched it all and it was good fun.

myladyjane · 01/10/2025 06:23

I also thought it was fun. Kept us watching til the end. I did guess and also a couple of the twists but the family were adamant I was wrong (so I was smug). Silly, a bit gory no brainer stuff and I was here for that.

ChiefCakeTestertoMaryBerry · 01/10/2025 06:58

I’ve seen the first two episodes - it’s Lost meets And Then There Were None. Very silly but it’s fun to guess who might be the murderer(s) we wanted something light to watch and it fits the bill. Hopefully they won’t start getting into time travel like Lost!

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/10/2025 09:08

Glad people have enjoyed who watched it all

remember this is tv paced. Thanks 😀

I agree that the accents are bad. In fact lots of aspects are bad. However I will keep watching.

I think I'm in need for something less gritty/realistic.

Would have been a good show to have on over Christmas.

Me too!

I'm hugely enjoying this and have hardly noticed the handy footpaths and lack of insects and animals.
But the mysteries keep coming.
surely Travis would have organised some kind of forest toilet by now.
why have they only got 2 airplane seats
out to sit on ?
what airline has such sumptuously comfortable seats?
how have they managed to rescue the gas fire pit from the luggage but no clothes ?
and could someone please explain to me how the water purification system works?

KnickerlessParsons · 03/10/2025 12:17

They are boiling the water to sterilise it, then the steam goes up the piping and condenses back into clean water which dribbles into the collection bag, Any undesirable bits of leaf, dirt etc are left behind in the original container.

limetrees32 · 03/10/2025 12:48

thank you @KnickerlessParsons ,how ingenious .
And useful to know when we can't afford Thames Water charges .

I'm worried that no one is refilling it! They seem much less worried about having drinking water than I would be.

And yes, why haven't they got clothes out of the luggage?!

I’m guessing you watched e2 before it was on tonight with the water remark ?

no. Spoilers please

limetrees32 · 04/10/2025 22:25

Goodness I'm so sorry , my mistake.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/10/2025 22:38

no worries. I thought I had missed the water thing in e1 but tonight’s showed it

nothing too bad was spoiled

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 04/10/2025 22:40

So do I take it that none of them are the killer but it’s the man from the pair in e1 who are watching the bodies from the car

he comes into the jungle - meaning they can’t be too far away from civilisation unless he stayed there for 7/8/ days in the jungle
