What did you think? Favourite character? Better than ER?

I hope the student nurse is ok! What's going on with that suddenly aggressive guy?

He was basically so drunk when he woke up he had no idea where he was and what was going on so he just lashed out.
Poor Emma.
I am pacing the floor waiting for the next episode....she NEEDS to be ok.

I think he has something neurological going on. His reaction was so extreme.

knitnerd90 · 21/03/2026 22:36

Loads of people are pleased too because the producers promised the ICE storyline would be “balanced”. This was their idea of balance.

and it isn’t just undocumented people who are afraid. Remember the Haitian boy whose parents were deported? They would have had TPS. Even people with visas are worried.

Very well done. The only part that strained credulity was that the agents would bother taking her to hospital.

YouCouldHaveASteamTrain · 22/03/2026 21:08

I do hope the new nurse isn't a victim of the Star Trek away team trope.

I think Santos has a point about Langdon. Some people know he was away dealing with addiction issues, only 3 people know he was stealing medication (that he had prescribed) from the hospital. Four now as I assume Dr Al Hashimi heard all of that conversation. I wonder what she will do.

knitnerd90 · 22/03/2026 23:01

So on social media people who have been involved with these programs say that the type of program Langdon would be in is heavily regulated. The management may well know all the details as a full confession can be a requirement of participation. Charges can be waived in return for going through the program. Al-Hashimi definitely knows what he did because she'll be supervising him in Robby's place.

Santos would be privy to none of this.

Nos4r2 · 23/03/2026 06:51

I really don't like Santos, she is so pissed with Langdon, but I think a lot of it is due to her surgeon girl friend is having a go at her about the doctors code, and has gone cold on her.
Dr Langdon did wrong but he never made any medical mistakes while using, noone died, they just got less medication than they should. He would be closely monitored also.
Love Mel, she is so sad that her sister disnt need her so much. That was her life outside the hospital. Hope is dosnt end in tears for her sister.
I think the Ice thing was over played in which the big monster of an ice agent was a bit over-the top the way he was so big and had that mask on would scare anyone.
I worked in a factory once and it got raided by imagration one night and nearly all the staff ran out the back door.
Most programmes, if there is an illegal immigrant, comes down on the immigrants side I find.

Nofeckingway · 23/03/2026 08:05

I think in RL Langdon would be struck off for that .

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 24/03/2026 17:40

I've just got all caught up. I've binged all of season 1 and up to episode 11 of season 2.

I'm really enjoying it. It is more realistic than many medical dramas with a much calmer pace around the emergencies.

Loved the manual evacuation!

Shutting down the computers was great, so many little bits going on in the background showing how reliant on tech we are. The felt tip pen, not knowing what the noise was when the fax machine was making the internet dial up sound and so on.

Absolutely loved seeing Whitaker calm and confident with the new students having been the new one in season 1.

Needmorelego · 27/03/2026 07:05

Episode 12.
Nightshift starting to arrive.... they are all pretty much saying "fuuuuuuuck" as they walk through the door.
4th July seems a very dangerous day for Americans 😂
Emma is ok. Phew. (Well ok physically.... hopefully mentally she's ok too).
Dana though 😭
We still don't know where ICE took Jesse. I don't have a clue how American law enforcement works but even if Jesse was essentially being arrested for assaulting the ICE agent why is he dragged off to an immigration centre - surely they should pass him to regular police??
Santos stealing a blade 😭😭😭
Why didn't she tell Whittaker the truth...she wants him to stay.
Robby...oh Robby. What really is going on with him? That was funny when he suggested Geriatrics to Mohan "you might like the slow pace" - good advice and being bitchy at the same time.
What else happened....no Oglivie. I kind of missed him. That lady's sunburn... OUCH 🌞
I'm curious how many times the word "fuck" was used in this episode.
3 episodes to go.
I want this to never end yet also be over so I can stop being worried for all these characters.

I just started watching this last night and it's very good so far. I loved ER and Noah Wyle in it - but this is so full on and there was a lot of soapy drama in ER that there doesn't appear to be in The Pitt.

I see it's been certified by medical professionals as being realistic. How people work in an emergency department day after day I do not know, if this is really what it's like. I'd have PTSD after a single shift. In episode 2 where Dr Robby has to tell the parents that their 18-year-old DS is brain dead and the mother just wails - OMG!!! I have an 18-year-old DS so that probably explains my visceral reaction, but when I think how mundane my job is compared to the devastating things that can and do happen in a workplace like this, it just doesn't compare.

Nofeckingway · 28/03/2026 11:09

Emergency medicine is a very special vocation . As in our A&E stations the pace must be horrendous. If you think about it they see people maybe for the first time when they are in crisis mode and speedy diagnosis and treatment is vital . I bet they do have to deal with a lot more patients dying as they come in often in dire shape .
Must be hard to deal with long term . I wonder if the turnover of staff is exceptionally high .

spiderlight · 28/03/2026 11:18

The sunburn woman!! That's my worst nightmare - I have a milk-bottle-pale ginger teenager who thinks he's invincible.

My heart is breaking for Dana - she's such an incredible character but nobody can be that strong for everybody else indefinitely. Weird dynamic between her and Robby this episode - no idea what's going on with him! I guess the one disadvantage of having it all set in one day is that you don't get the sense of gradual build-up of someone's issues, like you would in something like Casualty.

Roxy's blanket is going to go missing or be incinerated, isn't it? :(

Scorchio84 · 28/03/2026 12:37

Finally HBO Max has launched over here so my binge can get underway! I will be back to see what you all think ✊

Nos4r2 · 30/03/2026 05:16

I think Robbie can't let go of HIS! ER and Im glad Dana had a go at him. He was very nice in season 1 but this season he just thinks the hospital can't run with out him.
Yes the sunburn lady was nasty as I'm ginger and almost transparent skinned.
Used to get burt when I was a kid and my dad who was ginger also,( he was immune as he was in North Africa most of WW2), put calamine lotion on us, which didn't do much good.
What is Santos going to do with that knife?. She is a bit paranoid about Langdon, perhaps she feels threatened by him.
That little Asian Doctor has the right idea really, even though she seemed very selfish. She is wise to let it go, unlike every body else.

Nofeckingway · 30/03/2026 10:16

I think Santos intends self harming with the knife as so overwhelmed.

Needmorelego · 30/03/2026 10:23

There was a brief scene in the toilets where we saw old cutting scars on her legs 😭

@waltercrimble apparently back in the early ER days George Clooney couldn't remember all the medical speak so he would have it written down but out of shot.
If you watch old episodes it does seem like he is looking down a lot like he is reading from something 😂😂
(I don't know how true that story is)

I would totally believe that 🤣 he was always looking down or doing that downward side-eyed smirk that I'm sure he just thought made him adorable 🙄

I'm just up to date on The Pitt now, thank you HBO Max, & it's good, way better than anything medical since ER & I still love that, it'll be hard now with weekly pace but I'm due an ER rewatch so I'll cope

Highonmyownsupply · 31/03/2026 08:08

After all the hype I’m a bit underwhelmed by this. Maybe because I was around for the launch of ER and I remember the impact of it in America where I was living at the time. Yes, the medical stuff seems realistic, but I can see the plot lines coming a mile away and there’s quite a lot of schmaltz and sentimentality, IMO.

It’s entertaining but not ground breaking. Did anyone watch Berlin ER? Now that’s gritty and more my style.

Runs for cover….

zurigo · 31/03/2026 09:55

I'm near the end of series 1. When is series 2 set? Presumably it's not the next day? I'd have needed a good 2-week holiday after series 1!

Blueskiesnotgrey · 31/03/2026 10:01

im up to date with series 2, I think it was set a few months as they mention how are the people from the attack doing, theyre OK, etc. Plus all the young doctors have gone up a level, students to residents or whatever the terminology so it's definitely in the next 'school year'.

Just googled, and it says 10 months.

Yes it's 10 months later.
Whittaker was a med student in series 1 but has literally just become a Doctor in season 2.

@Highonmyownsupply I kind of agree with you. This has been much hyped in US, “best TV of our generation”, etc, etc, but it seems to me like yet another take on a medical drama, and a lot of it is unbelievable. Like, why aren’t they wrestling every intake to the ground, demanding they see their proof of medical insurance? It also seems too squeaky clean, and there are no typical FUBARS such as equipment malfunctioning, test results going missing, etc. I got HBO Max to watch this & I’ll watch the 2 seasons, but there are a lot of other box sets that I like better.
