Where There's Cake, There's Hope...Bake Off 25

The new series starts on Tuesday 2nd September and the bakers have been named. A few weeks earlier than recent seasons, so taking us nicely from late summer through to the cosiness of autumn.

No change to the team of Paul, Prue, Noel and Alison, which I thought worked well last year - it was a warmer and kinder programme than it has been for a few years.

The usual eclectic mix of contestants, but less of an age spread than some years - a lot of 30 somethings, no-one under 20 or over 60.

Anyone else excited for this season?

@Pancakeflipper - it was a hypothetical challenge! I've never made it before. You can buy marshmallow fluff, I think it's called, in a jar - maybe that would work as a substitute.

Hedjwitch · 09/09/2025 20:21

They look great

billysboy · 09/09/2025 20:21

Loving this crew

FawnDrench · 09/09/2025 20:22

Good grief it’s all a bit much.
Far too faffy - for me anyway.
Whats wrong with a good old Rich Tea eh??

Ellmau · 09/09/2025 20:23

They look great

Well, some of them do. Some are... less successful.

Is the ox or the baby more demonic looking?

Not2identifying · 09/09/2025 20:25

Mincemeat ganache?!

Not2identifying · 09/09/2025 20:26

I love chocolate and orange. I think those are the ones I'd want to eat the most.

Ellmau · 09/09/2025 20:26

Toby's cats are cute.

Oh. They're meant to be dogs.

lettingthedaysgoby · 09/09/2025 20:27

Everybody's biscuit is underbaked as they weren't given enough time!

Not2identifying · 09/09/2025 20:28

Tonka and malt...

Pancakeflipper · 09/09/2025 20:28

Loved Toby's - but it is a cat.

And well done Leighton and your oranges.

And hurrah. Aaron ! a biscuit that snaps

sittingonabeach · 09/09/2025 20:28

@lettingthedaysgoby that’s what I have just shouted at the tv

Not2identifying · 09/09/2025 20:29

Hobnobs! @Pancakeflipper - close to what you would have chosen.

FawnDrench · 09/09/2025 20:30

Hobnobs!
Thats more bloody like it!

Not2identifying · 09/09/2025 20:30

Those demonstration biscuits look lovely.

Hedjwitch · 09/09/2025 20:31

Leighton's oranges were cute

FawnDrench · 09/09/2025 20:33

Not sure about cooking it as a whole then cutting into biscuits afterwards…

NotMyRealAccount · 09/09/2025 20:34

Now, that's a Bake Off challenge that I'd be tempted to try at home.

CrushingOnRubies · 09/09/2025 20:35

Are McVities notified about bake off doing hob nobs because there maybe a surge in sales as a result.

PrincessScarlett · 09/09/2025 20:37

Love a chocolate hob nob.

Made a chocolate banana loaf to accompany tonight's episode.

Poor Pui Man - hers are a disaster.

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 09/09/2025 20:38

Poor Pui Man - hers are a disaster.

Yes, they look a disaster. Using the silicon mould seems to have been the downfall as they all got stuck.

Not2identifying · 09/09/2025 20:41

@PrincessScarlett her goose was cooked (even if her biscuits weren't) when she decided to bake then cut...

Pancakeflipper · 09/09/2025 20:41

Not2identifying · 09/09/2025 20:38

Poor Pui Man - hers are a disaster.

She seemed to falter at the 1st stage of making the actual biscuit.

Isn't she the one who doesn't eat sweet things ???? If so... this is why.... now I'm an expert Hob Nob eater..
