The new series starts on Tuesday 2nd September and the bakers have been named. A few weeks earlier than recent seasons, so taking us nicely from late summer through to the cosiness of autumn.

No change to the team of Paul, Prue, Noel and Alison, which I thought worked well last year - it was a warmer and kinder programme than it has been for a few years.

The usual eclectic mix of contestants, but less of an age spread than some years - a lot of 30 somethings, no-one under 20 or over 60.

Anyone else excited for this season?

I would love to see Aaron win. He has had the most consistent good feedback on flavours whilst trying out new things instead of playing safe. He has had some bad weeks but I prefer his style to the more “style over flavour” baking.

Its hard to see anyone beating Jasmine in the final. She is amazing, I’m not sure why I don’t warm to her as much as Aaron.

Especially when he's just getting going on the semifinal. He must have been mean to get us feeling sorry for Tom!

I don't dislike him for being posh, BTW. I have the same accent. It was the arrogance.

Tom needs a hair band

And I do think he's become a bit more humble as the series has progressed.

Yes I feel the same. Jasmine is confident but I never feel she is arrogant. I also wondered if that comment was there to bump up sympathy for Tom - its unusual for Paul to make a comment of that type (or maybe they normally edit them out).

I also tend not to like bakers overly focused on amazing looks as much as the bakers with good flavours and decent looks.

Doesn’t much foster a desire to eat the food!

I've long had a bee in my bonnet about hair on this show. Jasmine even manages to be perfect in that regard as well!

Goodness, this technical looks difficult.

They do love their domes on this show. I've never seen one in real life.

This is stressful watching let alone doing
