Where There's Cake, There's Hope...Bake Off 25

The new series starts on Tuesday 2nd September and the bakers have been named. A few weeks earlier than recent seasons, so taking us nicely from late summer through to the cosiness of autumn.

No change to the team of Paul, Prue, Noel and Alison, which I thought worked well last year - it was a warmer and kinder programme than it has been for a few years.

The usual eclectic mix of contestants, but less of an age spread than some years - a lot of 30 somethings, no-one under 20 or over 60.

Anyone else excited for this season?

It always takes me a little while to get into it because I struggle with keeping track of all the contestants in the first few weeks. I enjoy cake week though and I'm debating now if I've got time to bake some cakes in the not-too-distant future...

Oh, you're right then, they really shouldn't be showing erectile dysfunction adverts when you can watch at any time, it's definitely a programme watched by young families.

Here in the States I have to watch on Netflix, and the new episodes come out on Fridays.

I get usually get annoyed with not being able to binge a whole season of something whenever I want, but between Bake Off on Fridays and the Summer I Turned Pretty on Wednesdays, I kind of love the anticipation.

Hello! I’m not a massive biscuit fan so always find biscuit week less interesting than cake week. And the showstopper in biscuit week is always some ridiculously elaborate structure which nobody would ever make in real life.

Managed to miss the intro this week - so no loss there

The challenges are so hard for so early in the series.

Aren't they all over kneading their biscuits? A few of them looked like they were kneading bread there.

I like eating biscuits but I've never made them (cookies don't count).

Can they just not bake some really yummy biscuits?

Fed up with it all being so visual or architectural.

I think I'd do a chocolate teacake type biscuit. That has got to count because it has a biscuit base!
