Mrs Brown's boys

I know it’s a favourite but Morecambe and Wise - never found the few episodes I watched remotely funny. Also Fawlty Towers, so over the top acting.

Not Going Out, the most recent series, was awful because there was no friends, Anna and Toby and no parents, Geoffrey and Wendy. Such a shame they ruined it, made it all about the main characters. It was also brilliant with Bobby Ball, RIP.

Everyone who dislikes Here We Go needs to sit on a fire ant hill. It’s wonderful and nonsense and ordinary all at once.

I watched a bit of a ‘Allo ‘Allo recently and my god, it was awful! I do quite enjoy saying ‘Good Moaning’ to people though, so I must have found it funny at some point!

I'll just have to pretend series 3 never happened.

I cannot stomach Allo Allo these days but do also find myself saying good moaning sometimes. I've yet to find a scenario where I could be pissing by the door though.

I did like Ab fab. It was manic at times, but it could have some great comic timing especially Patsy. A kind of a posh Nessa!

Jennifer Saunders was remarkable for the fact she gave all the other actors the best lines. Lumley and June Whitfield especially.
'Inside of me, there's a thin person just screaming to get out!'
'Just the one, dear?'

I cant stand cartoon comedy like South Park and Family Guy, just not funny at all

I could never understand a word that they spoke on southpark….but the writers/creators also created & wrote a Book of Mormon which is probably the best show I’ve seen!

CalzoneOnLegs · 13/08/2025 20:07

@HumerousHumous so agree about Fawlty Towers so irritating and there’s just something so smug about all those people involved in the Monty Python spin offs

Here We Go with Alison Steadman and Jim Howick. It's interesting seeing a few people saying this, I thought the first couple of series were great but the latest one was utterly dire. Nearly gave up on it but preserved in case it improved.
It didn't.

I think the endless trailers don’t help, just annoying

😂😂 and she created Bubble who stole every scene.

Now I think about it there’s another strong contender for second worst comedy: Babes in the Wood.

I find it hard to name the unfunniest comedies, because the really bad ones are probably the ones I quickly turned off and have long forgotten about. Also, I don't like to judge a sitcom until I've watched at least a few episodes of it, because it often takes a while to adjust to the humour. I couldn't make it through more than ten minutes of Mrs Browns Boys, because it's just not my cup of tea. But I can't call it the unfunniest sitcom when I've only seen ten minutes of it.

So of the shows I've properly watched, I guess I'd say the Birds Of A Feather reboot. I used to love that show when I was a kid, but I thought it was pretty bad when it came back. It was still watchable, thanks to Pauline Quirke and Lesley Joseph, but as a comedy it wasn't good and it was very dated.

Mrs Brown’s Boys is very, very bad. It’s easily the worst ‘comedy’ of recent years.

But for all time I’d have to give it to My Family. Fuck that was terrible. God knows why it got such good ratings.

Edited

I came on to vote for My Family. The acting was atrocious too.

Judellie · 13/08/2025 20:16

I have never ever found Father Ted funny but my husband can't understand why I don't like it.
Somehow watched an episode of Diff'rent Strokes recently and it was absolutely cringe- so awful.
Only actual comedy I can remember liking 'recently' is Hebburn but it was pulled quite quickly - they brough the pregnancies in too quick, anyway, but that was funny.
Still like to watch reruns of Af Wiedersehn Pet and also, not a comedy, but Waterloo Road. Beem watching old episodes of that with my daughter and some of them are absolutely hilarious.

I find Ghosts US excruciating at times and brilliant at others. When they have their own plots its good, but when they tried reuse the British ones it was very bad.

Ghosts US is an atrocity. The UK one is sublime.

The 90s one with Denise Van Outen? Funnily enough I was only thinking about that the other day as I remember roaring at it back then as a teenager and thought I bet it'd be bloody awful if I watched it back now.

Interesting a PP saying Hebburn too, I loved the first series even though nobody else seemed to be watching it but series 2 was dire. Moving the characters out of the main family house and making Denise randomly pregnant too totally killed it.

Dinner ladies and anything with Victoria Wood or Dawn French in.

Roger & Val Have Just Got was great. Granted Molina was fab.

What the fuck? That’s genuinely terrible, what was he thinking?!

MBB doesn’t offend my tastes half as much as most on here it seems, albeit I do agree that it isn’t ‘good’. Big bang theory and family guy were the two that sprung to mind on reading the title. Many of the American sitcom shows on e4 over the years, all v similar and all shit.

Yeah I was weirdly embarrassed even though none of the audience knew it was me, the laughing gave me a weird sense of shame and feeling judged and blamed🤔. I texted him to say I was there and he didn't reply. I tried to speak to him as he left the club and he ran and jumped in a black cab. Wasn't expecting one particular audience member I guess 😁, idiot!

taxidriver · 13/08/2025 20:29
