Maybe we should start a thread to find someone who likes MBB

My dad does 😬 but then he has pretty shit taste in a few things!!!

DeadMemories · 13/08/2025 15:29

I cant stand cartoon comedy like South Park and Family Guy, just not funny at all

TheNightingalesStarling · 13/08/2025 15:30

The problem with most sitcoms is they don't know when they need to stop, and in taking it a series too far they ruin previous series.

Quicknamechange2025 · 13/08/2025 15:32

On TV, Mrs Brown's Boys, watched 5mins and felt ill lol.
In real life many moons ago I was involved with a comedian. He was doing a gig in another city close by so I thought I'd go and watch and suprise him at the end. I'd recently left a violent relationship which I'd obviously talked to him about. Low and behold what's his stand up topic to his and everyone's amusement...yep my relationship. He didn't mention me by name but the scenarios he was relaying and critiquing and laughing about were mine. Me and my friend stood there and our mouths were just open. I'd say that was the least funniest 🤣 😂.

KawasakiBabe · 13/08/2025 15:32

Mock The Week, that was painful. Andy Parsons is excruciating.

Berlinlover · 13/08/2025 15:33

I’m Irish and was astonished when I heard Mrs Brown’s Boys was going to be shown in the UK. I don’t know anyone here in Ireland who likes it so I’m not surprised to read here how unpopular it is in the UK.

mumtoadhdadult · 13/08/2025 15:36

MorrisZapp · 13/08/2025 14:55

Almost all sitcoms. That one with Lee Mack in it is excruciating.

I love Not Going Out when it started but it has definitely run its course. As soon as they got married that was it.

Floofle · 13/08/2025 15:36

I have to agree with the Office! It's just boring and cringeworthy!
I watched the american version once too and it was even worse!!

What the fuck? That’s genuinely terrible, what was he thinking?!

MBB doesn’t offend my tastes half as much as most on here it seems, albeit I do agree that it isn’t ‘good’. Big bang theory and family guy were the two that sprung to mind on reading the title. Many of the American sitcom shows on e4 over the years, all v similar and all shit.

Daboomboom · 13/08/2025 15:40

I've never "got" MBB but I dont understand all the sudden hate for it?

For ages, you'd get a weird look if you said you didnt like it and it's on it's 700th series (or just seems like it) and didnt it do a tour too? I might be making that up.

So basically, it seems like everyone loved it but now it's not fashionable to so nobody will admit to liking it? Has something happened?

SteakBakesAndHotTakes · 13/08/2025 15:42

Big Bang Theory
How I Met Your Mother

ErlingHaalandsManBun · 13/08/2025 15:46

Going against the grain but I do like Mrs Browns Boys. I find it easy watching TV. Its silly, and I don't take it too seriously, but its fun. Okay so admittedly its not the best thing I have ever seen but I certainly don't get all the hate for it. I watch it when its on and actually quite like the Xmas Specials.

But I do appreciate that my tastes always pretty much go against the grain.

Not TV, but I think I am the only person who disliked movies such as Mama Mia, The Greatest Showman, Love Actually & Bridget Jones Diary 😂

TheNightingalesStarling · 13/08/2025 15:48

I find Ghosts US excruciating at times and brilliant at others. When they have their own plots its good, but when they tried reuse the British ones it was very bad.

Doitrightnow · 13/08/2025 15:48

In real life, an excruciatingly bad improv comedy at the Fringe.

I really didn't like Mock the Week.
I didn't like Motherland at all. Julia was vile and stressful to watch. I don't mind Amanda land though.
Little Britain.
Wasn't keen on Colin from Accounts either.

You're not, I thought the film Mamma Mia was awful (although I like the stage show), and don't like Love Actually. I've never met anyone else in real life who doesn't like Love Actually actually!

EveryOtherNameTaken · 13/08/2025 15:54

MBB
Last of the Summer Wine

JulianFawcettMP · 13/08/2025 15:58

I can't argue with MBB but I thought Count Arthur Strong was just as dire. I watched way more of an episode than I should because I couldn't believe it was on the BBC. I am a real dullard but even I could make something funnier.

I have never met anyone else in real life who didn't love Love Actually either. When I say I didn't enjoy it I just get people look at me like I have two heads 😂

We are right. Everyone else is wrong 😉

StMarie4me · 13/08/2025 16:04

It’s almost as if we’re all different. And like different things.

My ND DD28 who has a range of disabilities find Mrs Brown’s Boys very funny, and it’s really a bonding experience for us. Same with Benidorm.

Can’t bear Jimmy Carr, but my son loves him. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Absolutely 🙃😁

Tinytigertail · 13/08/2025 16:06

MBB seems like something that's been dug up from the '70s, just awful.
Agree with PP about Not Going Out, used to be quite funny, but just terrible now.
Controversial but I thought Ted Lasso deteriorated rapidly and became very schmaltzy and I couldn't stand AfterLife, which could and should have been sooo much better.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 13/08/2025 16:07

Saturday Night Live - I think something gets lost in the translation

SerendipityJane · 13/08/2025 16:07

You mean Mock the Weak

Did you see the latest series? It was set years after the 'family' series when the kids had moved out. It was on BBC about a month or so ago. I was quite looking forward to it as I loved the early series. Well, it was actually dire, beyond dreadful, not a laugh to be had. It actually made the series with the kids look funny!
