You know, I think SGP did have some sway with storylines: she and Michael Patrick King have always been thick as thieves.

I think you may be right.

Re Patricia Field, I believe she and Kim were quite matey during SatC and it shows. Her style was never mine, but Samantha did always look pretty classy.

ConstantlyFuriosa · 13/08/2025 07:16

For want of anything better to do I started a rewatch of AJLT from season 1 last night. It’s no SatC but the quality is still far superior to season 3 and SJP is actually much more like the Carrie of old.

What I really didn’t like (other than all the woke shit) was them throwing shade at Kim, with SJP referring to Samantha treating her like an ATM. Surely that’s a dig at the supposed stories of KC demanding higher pay - something she always denied. Anyway. It came across as very snide.

I haven't RTFT but my thoughts on this ep:
ETA SPOILERS!

I liked them addressing Charlotte's sadness about Rock
Harry is underused. I don't care where he goes for thanksgiving
Brady is just a horrible brat and needs to stop shouting at everyone
OTOH Miranda probably should have talked to him about inviting Mia
Carrie has finally furnished the house but it's not looking great, why not?
I don't buy that Carrie's novel is great and the publisher loves it
Duncan is just written out, like Big, never to be mentioned again? Or do we think he'll appear in the final ep?
I quite liked that Carrie says "it's not a tragedy for a woman to be alone" although it was in 1872 or whenever, which is a fair point!
Anthony and Giuseppe, not sure Anthony would be having doubts tbh
Herbert is a sulky baby and should STFU
Seema massively underused but quite sweet between her and Adam
Carrie's old apartment, WTAF?!

There’s been no rapprochement though. The cameo came from an approach directly from HBO, she was offered a huge amount of money, and had no contact with anyone when she filmed it. AND she insisted on being dressed by Patricia Field, who has not otherwise been involved in AJLT at all (and I bet there’s a story there).

This was my understanding too, she demanded and got $1m for a 5 minute scene during which she wasn't near any of the rest of the cast. Good for her.

Dita73 · 15/08/2025 02:45

That was bad. Really bad

OhDorWheresthesalad · 15/08/2025 05:12

Got back from holiday yesterday and instantly headed to the TV...Spoilers
Hated Carrie's old apartment. That whole scene was weird and the dialogue was very odd.
There's a pink chair in her house that looked at a distance like the folding ones we use for overspill guests at school assembly. Closer, it clearly wasn't, but its placement was weird.
That stuffing sounds rank.
Joy picked up the dogs at the same time and that was most strange.
Love Seema and Adam
Relate very much to Charlotte re the scenes with Rock in the show. Shed a tear myself, probably more for myself.
Awaiting Duncan's return next week.
AJLT has been pretty rubbish in many ways, but for me it filled the very big hole left by SATC and this does feel very much like the end of an era.

It was. I won't spoil this thread as you won't all have seen it yet, especially if you are doing a viewing party, but bollocks was that a planned finale. Am going to vent on the previous thread with a spoiler warning, for anyone who has seen it already x

myladyjane · 15/08/2025 07:04

What even was that

mylovedoesitgood · 15/08/2025 07:40

It was lacklustre and a bit silly. The best thing about it - and this series - was Dolly Wells, who is such a natural and charismatic actor.

Umbilicat · 15/08/2025 08:12

Talk about ending with a whimper not with a bang – it was pathetic. A fatal mistake of the whole spinoff was introducing all the new characters – I just had no investment in LTW et al. And do that all that to Miranda was just criminal. Goodbye, you won’t be missed …

PurplebeadedFendi · 15/08/2025 08:15

What the fuck am I watching? Seriously! An absolute insult to every loyal SATC fan who has stood by this shit. They serve us literal shit. Fuck you Michael Patrick King!

PurplebeadedFendi · 15/08/2025 08:46

I’m actually angry. What an absolute waste. What on earth were they all thinking? What has been the point to AJLT? Other than to make money for the stars? Certainly not to honour the original series and its characters or do anything to honour the new people they brought in, whom the writers just seem to hate.

(And what’s with all the men taking a piss? I don’t need or want to see this.)

Ugh.

Netaporter · 15/08/2025 08:47

Well S3 Ep1 was the best of it all.

None of us deserved that ending - even if Carrie was wearing a fabulous tulle skirt. There was nothing good about this finale save for Miranda and Steve getting back to how we all remember them, and Charlotte’s fabulous cream outfit.

I am bereft and annoyed in equal Measure. Especially the addition of the wokerati fucking kids at Thanksgiving, and the totally unnecessary toilet scene. Absolute drivel. And absolutely no way that was a planned ending.

Spoiler!

Well they have actually done me a favour cos I sat watching that thinking I won’t miss it. Absolutely crap!

mylovedoesitgood · 15/08/2025 08:53

The cancellation was a last minute one so in the finale there was never going to be a proper farewell / honouring of SATC.

Tagyoureit · 15/08/2025 09:02

Watching now......🫣

Doubleraspberry · 15/08/2025 09:08

Spoilers

Literal shit?

More hideous GenZs, really? I feel for my poor kids with their generation being so relentlessly skewered by this show. And we Don’t. Need. New. Characters in what is meant to be a ‘finale’ (absolutely zero doubt now that this show was cancelled).

Not a single scene of the three friends together???

Herbert can get fat now. LTW gets Michelle for her whole series that may never be finished. She will not have an affair. That is her plot line.

I don’t really care about Seema and the gardener.

A custard pie scene.

Dolly Wells did some lovely acting with very little to do.

I had low expectations. I was not disappointed.

Dita73 · 15/08/2025 09:10

It was definitely a case of the makers jumping before they were pushed so had to pull something out of their backsides very quickly

Tagyoureit · 15/08/2025 09:21

What is this demin clad dancing fool?

grootsin · 15/08/2025 09:25

only good thing about it was Carrie’s fabulous outfit

Tagyoureit · 15/08/2025 09:26

Miranda hugging Joy with those gloves on? 😱😱😱😱

greengreyblue · 15/08/2025 09:33

Tagyoureit · 15/08/2025 09:26

Miranda hugging Joy with those gloves on? 😱😱😱😱

And Joy kneeling down on either shit or bleach or both! . Definitely written by a man!

Tagyoureit · 15/08/2025 09:42

Disappointed!

The whole episode seemed so disjointed and the ending was clearly thrown together, let have Carrie dancing around in pink making out that all is good. Odd!

Epcot and the dancing fool were ridiculous and unnecessary along with the toilet storyline.

Meh, and then throwing the SATC theme tune on the end as if that was meant to bring us a flurry of nostalgia!!
