Anyone planning on watching this?

Rob Brydon hosts as contestants are driven around Europe in a blacked out bus, trying to guess where they are. I’ve seen clips of the US Version, it might be good!

Did I hear correctly at the end that once Debbie was eliminated, the other contestants didn’t get to know the correct answer and who was nearest? I don’t see the point in that. Was it Dawn the closest? Does she win something?

Briantheguitargod · 31/07/2025 08:06

is this tv pace?
i enjoyed it, but really didn't like the guy who shared the clues with the lady. also annoying that they didn't listen at all to the carer/irish girl.

You did hear correctly so, pointlessly, Dawn doesn't know she was right. Presumably, some of the guesses will get further and further away from now on.

Piggywaspushed · 31/07/2025 08:15

The contestants also don't know where the evicted person put more to the point which would be helpful info. The taxi driver was lucky. He must have been nearly as far away. If they have an ounce of intelligence they'll all share where they put.

SwedishEdith · 31/07/2025 08:49

I think they got obsessed with Austria because they were convinced they'd gone over/through mountains and the languages they heard weren't French. Did some guess Switzerland as well? I might have to watch it again to understand it.

bizzey · 31/07/2025 09:07

Maybe they are not allowed to hate where they put their X

A bit like BB where they are not allowed to discuss nominations .???

🤔.

bizzey · 31/07/2025 09:09

A TV clash starts next week.

The Fortune Hotel is back for a 2nd series .
Same days and time !

I got really into FH last year !

BestIsWest · 31/07/2025 09:50

I guessed Paris in the first five minutes because they showed a Celine Dion CD and a plaque or something with ‘Emily’ on in the airport shop. But then got completely thrown by the Alsace stuff. I kept saying Oh it must be Strasbourg then. I couldn’t see how they made the leap to Paris.

All in all it was a bit slow I thought especially the end where they were guessing. DH fell asleep.

KassandraOfSparta · 31/07/2025 09:54

I saw the Celine Dion thing too - that was a red herring as she is French-Canadian and sang for Switzerland in the Eurovision, unless they were trying to reference her appearance at the Olympics? No idea who/what Emily in Paris is.

All a bit convoluted.

Piggywaspushed · 31/07/2025 09:54

Why Paris for Celine Dion? I thought that was a Switzerland clue/red herring as she did Eurovision for them. But I did notice the Lorraine clue.

BestIsWest · 31/07/2025 09:57

Paris for Celine Dion because of her singing from the Eiffel Tower last year in the Olympic opening ceremony. Emily in Paris is a huge TV show (Netflix I think).

KassandraOfSparta · 31/07/2025 10:06

I think the next episode it might be easier to work out now we've been given the idea that the area featured is just where you are travelling THROUGH not the final place and you need to be looking for clues to somewhere else in that general direction. Maybe.

Seemed from the teaser at the end of last night's episode that they were somewhere with lots of mountains so back south east towards the Alps and that means their final destination could again be in France/Germany/Austria/Switzerland/Italy. Agree it's likely to be somewhere everyone has heard of - a major city like Munich, Milan or Zurich rather than a tiny wee village somewhere.

BestIsWest · 31/07/2025 10:17

It must be so disappointing to travel around Europe and not be able to see any of it or get off the bus at all. I’d hate that.

KassandraOfSparta · 31/07/2025 10:23

No spoilers - but in the intro to Ep 2 Rob Brydon's voiceover says "I'll be giving the contestants just enough challenges and clues to work out which country they are in, and the exact destination X they are headed to".

Which kind of implies that if you work out you are in Spain (for example), your end destination is going to be Madrid, Barcelona or Malaga and not Venice, Marseille or Oslo.

champagnetrial · 31/07/2025 10:40

I think a show about being stuck on a bus with no windows (and one loo!) with a bunch of strangers, could work (claustrophobic BigBrother on wheels).

A travel show about a group of people trying to work out geographical clues could work (Race Across the World with a bunch of strangers).

A quiz show with a lot of misdirection and red herrings where no clues really make sense, possibly (3-2-1 and Dusty Bin with a load of strangers)

A show combining all of the above is just a hot mess, tbf.

The best bit was the 'Dave Coaches' joke when the buses turned up, which RB responded to very generously.

I have asked @MNHQ to add TV pace to the thread title last night. I’ve asked again just now

3 2 1! Gosh that show was pants wasn’t it. The weird finger thing the host did to show 3 2 1 and those terrible clues which didn’t make a lot of sense.
A bit like the masked singer too , clues that are so niche.
I wonder if anyone kept ‘ dusty bin’ as a souvenir?

Piggywaspushed · 31/07/2025 10:55

80s, are you casting shade on TMS?? I may never speak to you again...

the80sweregreat · 31/07/2025 10:57

No Piggy ! I do love the masked singer ! It’s just the clues are a bit odd at times..a bit like this show was last night!
Maybe they could play them some music on that coach , it must be boring at times for them without a phone.

KassandraOfSparta · 31/07/2025 11:02

They probably do play them music or movies or something when the cameras aren't rolling.

AbiJane · 31/07/2025 11:12

I’ve watched ahead and the word on the mountain map is really obvious, isn’t it? Are they deliberately being vague?

I read somewhere after the programme (Radio Times or a newspaper) that there’s a trailer with 2 Portapotties which follows the bus. If anyone needs those everyone stops: the contestants are escorted individually from the main bus in some way that means they can’t see (or hear?) anything.

champagnetrial · 31/07/2025 11:24

Ha, I could never go on this show. Who would escort me for my middle-of-the-wees?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 31/07/2025 11:44

Just a Public Service Announcement that the thread is now officially TV Pace so please no posting about what you’ve seen ahead - another thread is needed for those binging on iPlayer. Thanks

I also didn’t get why the answer was Paris when the main clue was from Alsace. Very odd. Maybe it will be clearer as the show progresses.
