I’m getting snacks and drinks in and watching the whole thing while pretending I’m 12 again. Can’t wait for the Quo to kick it off in half an hour! Anyone else gonna watch?

Freddie and Brian seem to be wearing matching shoes. I wonder what the story was. Did they go shopping together for them, get a 2 for 1, or did they both turn up on the day and just happened to wear the same shoes? I'm so curious.

On now!

Raahh · 12/07/2025 21:53

Madonna!

Merrilydancing · 12/07/2025 21:54

Wow, even after all these years, Queen were amazing!

Mnello · 12/07/2025 21:54

tryingtobesogood · 12/07/2025 21:52

I was there. It was amazing (sorry 😂)

Me too if it was the Friday. So amazing as it went dusk and it was like the air crackled in anticipation of his stage presence. Hope you felt that by the loos!

MichaelandKirk · 12/07/2025 21:54

That Freddie Mercury. What a showman and I don’t like Queen music!!

tobee · 12/07/2025 21:55

Wasn't Madonna a bit outre for American tastes in those days? Weren't the US audience all a bit bring back REO Speedwagon?

ThePoshUns · 12/07/2025 21:55

Madonna never could sing

Lovingmayo · 12/07/2025 21:55

How pretty was Madonna back then?

SpottyAardvark · 12/07/2025 21:56

EverardDeTroyes · 12/07/2025 21:47

It isn't just Freddie though when you listen to it. All the band can properly play and fill the stadium. They might be playing their whole set. A lot of the earlier artists' sets were shortened.

Exactly. Queen were a proper stadium band with three outstanding singers and a legendary guitarist playing a stadium gig. Freddie was a genius, but it was never just the Freddie show, a fact which gets overlooked by the mythologising of this performance.

Appalonia · 12/07/2025 21:56

I didn't see the American show at the time as we had to go out for a friend's bloody birthday!

ThePoshUns · 12/07/2025 21:56

Love her look then

Oh yes

Raahh · 12/07/2025 21:56

Madge seems to have really tiny feet.

Lovingmayo · 12/07/2025 21:55

How pretty was Madonna back then?

She really should have left her face alone

JenniferBooth · 12/07/2025 21:57

Lovingmayo · 12/07/2025 21:55

How pretty was Madonna back then?

was just thinking the same Loving the auburn hair too. If she had left her face alone she would be a beautiful older woman

SirChenjins · 12/07/2025 21:57

I'm showing my age here - but it's so nice to see a lack of tits and arse cheeks, with the focus being the music.

cardibach · 12/07/2025 21:57

thenightsky · 12/07/2025 21:47

Rounday Park wasn't a stadium in 1983. It was a big grassy park with a few portaloos.

Fair. I was really meaning the original question about the Live Aid crowd. We definitely worried less about out constant hydration though. Even friends my age are obsessed. When did that happen?

Kattley · 12/07/2025 21:57

The contrast between Queen’s set and the ‘peppy’ choreographed Madonna performance

thenightsky · 12/07/2025 21:58

She sounds a bit flat. Hard to follow Queen though I guess.

CarefulN0w · 12/07/2025 21:58

Madonna’s ankle socks & shoes. Shock I may have had bad hair - but at least I didn’t do that!

Appalonia · 12/07/2025 21:58

Madonna is so beautiful with her natural hair colour. I bloody LOVED Madonna back in the day!

Middlemarch123 · 12/07/2025 21:58

She looks so young and fresh faced. Great songs, mediocre voice. Well done her for making it huge.

Raahh · 12/07/2025 21:58

This is my favourite Madonna song.

HurdyGurdy19 · 12/07/2025 21:58

Those who were at Wembley - did they show any of the Philadelphia concert on screens? Between set changes maybe? Or did you have to wait until you were back home at watch it on TV.

I assume Phil Colllins has done his Wembley bit by now and is on his way to Philadelphia on Concorde? Or has he done his Philadelphia stint already?
