I’m getting snacks and drinks in and watching the whole thing while pretending I’m 12 again. Can’t wait for the Quo to kick it off in half an hour! Anyone else gonna watch?

Bob looks a lot less scruffy than I remember- but it's still early , I suppose. I think he got more frantic drunk as the event progressed.

I love this song. I remember the video from TOTP.

KateShugakIsALegend · 12/07/2025 18:26

It would be a good time to get that box set on eBay! @magicpant

I bet it is nostalgia central on there 😊

JaneJeffer · 12/07/2025 18:29

I saw a bit of the documentary about it last night which for some reason had George Bush talking about it saying Bob looked like he was dug up. Exaggeration much?

I was 18, watched it in and off all day, with my first love, we both old now, with our own families but still friends. I might put it on for old times sake.

“Give us yer money NOW!” (Slams fist on desk)

Grin It was telly gold once the booze was flowing.

I'd never watched anything like it.

Appalonia · 12/07/2025 18:32

This is certainly a v impassioned performance from Sir Bob!

Appalonia · 12/07/2025 18:34

Any of you got teens watching it? I'd love to know what they made of it all!

Raahh · 12/07/2025 18:35

I am so glad I decided to watch the tennis ended early.

This is the perfect way to spend a Saturday night. (I will not last til the end).

Seeline · 12/07/2025 18:35

I was 17 and furious because my mum had invited my grandmother and great aunt for the day. We rarely saw them and they were elderly and the TV was not to be on.

We sat down for lunch and my great aunt said - oh that concert is about to start, aren't we going to watch? My mum was a bit flustered, but put the TV on. My GA glanced at the screen and said - Oh Status Quo - They're my favourites! My sister and I were in hysterics, but thanks to her we watched the whole thing.

PuppyMonkey · 12/07/2025 18:35

I love how they’re having to tell us not to try donating now as the numbers etc are no longer active.Grin

JaneJeffer · 12/07/2025 18:36

I bet someone will try to donate 😆

That's so funny! Thank God for your aunty😁

Enigma53 · 12/07/2025 18:36

I was 14. Blimey Bob Geldof looks so young! I can’t believe it was 40 years ago!

Appalonia · 12/07/2025 18:38

I still have Rat Trap as a 7" single!

DD2 (who is 14, and loves 80s stuff- just looked at me and said ' you are so old).

She was interested when I told her the back story to 'I don't like Mondays' - and the fact Brenda Spencer is still in prison, though (she's odd like that).

Enigma53 · 12/07/2025 18:38

We need to save lives!!!!
Give us yer money NOW!

What a man!

JaneJeffer · 12/07/2025 18:38

@SeelineGrin I used to hate when we had visitors and had to switch the telly off

medianewbie · 12/07/2025 18:39

BBC2 you say?
BoT feeling very 'with it' today.
Can I watch it on catch up later / tomorrow,?

Raahh · 12/07/2025 18:39

JaneJeffer · 12/07/2025 18:36

Absolutely- the Great British Public are not to be trusted. Even with disclaimers, someone will be complaining they were unable to send a postal order to The North.

SwedishEdith · 12/07/2025 18:39

I'm watching with my youngest who is the same age I was in 1985. I keep asking "Do you know this song?". No 😃

PuppyMonkey · 12/07/2025 18:23

I’ve just started it so am about ten behind. Quo really nailed that opening number. Grin

I can’t believe Parfitt & Rossi we’re only in their 30’s then!

BlueEyedBogWitch · 12/07/2025 18:42

Oooft, Adam Ant. Still absolutely would, six ways till Tuesday 🥵

JoanChitty · 12/07/2025 18:42

I was 23 and newly married. My dh was at work that morning where he had been offered two tickets for the show! We had no money to buy them so watched it all on tv!
Years later I was telling a year 6 class about LiveAid and turned to a ta and said it was fabulous wasn’t it only for him to say he hadn’t been born then!

Appalonia · 12/07/2025 18:43

Adam was a beautiful man!
