I think the editing oddity is symptomatic of having no Carrie voiceover and overriding theme of the episode to pull the disparate stories together and make it all gel.

For me, I’m still confused about this ‘waiting five years’ thing. Because all that seems to have happened is that Carrie just sees less of Aidan, and he gets to shag his ex-wife with no repercussions. I honestly thought that, at the end of season one when Aidan said about waiting five years, that it was gonna be a case of him not being around for the foreseeable episodes. Nothing‘s changed that much, has it?

Can’t believe how blasé Carrie was about Aidan’s infidelity: She bought a house as a home for this man and his children, and he goes and sleeps with his ex wife. When they were all together in Virginia, before Wyatt’s outburst, I thought: how nice for the parents and their respective partners to be getting on with each other. But now how awkward would it be every time Carrie sees Kathy?

Yep. There’s no way Carrie thought it was an open relationship for 5 years. If it was , why would Aiden think she was free automatically when he got a free week?

Oh god so many frustrations, mainly with Aiden. He’s such a ‘nice guy’ red flag, cries when he comes dickhead. I hated the way Carrie responded to him and shagged him after, pick me dance or what?

Im still hate watching but Carrie needs to get stronger and be pissed off with him, he’s giving me the ick he must be giving it to her surely?

The dad dying funeral did make me sad. I’ve lost both my parents this year, but if it makes LTW feel any better I sat with my mum at end of life for two days in May, left to get some sleep with instructions to the care home staff to call me if she was going, and she passed away quietly 2 hours after I’d left (had been at her bedside 14 hrs that day); but maybe her mil was right that they don’t want you there to see it.

Finally saw a nice side of Brady after the horrid inconsiderate sex storylines in season 1. And Joy seems way more suited to Miranda than Che, but now they did Miranda’s character so dirty in seasons 1 and 2 I almost feel like Joy could find someone better.

Why haven’t we seen more of Steve in the cute Coney Island business he bought? I liked that bit but maybe it was a goodbye to him rather than a set up for a new storyline? That’s one side character I’d actually be interested in though… and why hasn't Aiden seen him? Didn’t they have a bar together?

I feel like we know these characters better than the AJLT writers do……

I disliked Aiden in SATC, always thought he was too needy and controlling trying to make Carrie the image of her in his head rather than who she actually was, but he’s even worse now.

Carrie bought the house “for Aidan & the boys”, keeps referring to it as “his house”, and keeps calling Aidan her boyfriend when she speaks to her friends about him. And yet we’re supposed to believe that monogamy NEVER crossed her mind? Right….

I feel sorry for Kathy’s boyfriend—I liked him. I wonder if we’ll find out whether she comes clean with him about bonking Aidan?

Carrie not caring about aidan sleeping with his ex was surprising - even if shes grown up, it just didnt make sense. Plus, agree, his small suit made no sense and added nothing.

Just watched it. Frustrating episode. Like a PP, what’s going on with Carrie and the Tums? The Aidan storyline is getting ridiculous- she didn’t seem to mind that he’d just shagged his ex wife and played the ‘poor me my life is so hard with my troubled son’ card, again.

I agree with everything you’ve said. I even FF through some bits. Only highlights were a bit of Bitsy, Miranda perfectly paired up introducing a lovely Brady appearance and Charlotte with Carrie at the end.

I’m just watching back the episode where Carrie stays with Aiden and I think an issue I have is that there’s no continuity between episodes- they start a storyline and then forget it.

In the one I’m rewatching Harry’s dad gets enamoured with the annoying banana requesting woman from their apartment building (Norma in oitnb) and it feels like a romance might be blossoming much to Harry’s disgust. But then we never hear about that storyline ever again.

Maybe like a pp said we don’t have Carries voiceover to tie up the loose ends but it’s so jarring.

I watched some SATC last night and it really made me miss Samantha. Seema just doesn’t cut it. The warmth she brought. And Carrie used to have so much fire.

I get we all age but I look at the friends I’ve had for 30 years and whatever has happened to them over that time they are still themselves. Carrie has pretty much disappeared.

A comfort hug, I get. Maybe even it leads to a brief kiss before they catch themselves on and stop. It got to sex! Come on Carrie!!!! Wake up!
