Who recently died IRL…

Yes someone mentioned upthread.

VenusStarr · 29/06/2025 12:43

Have caught up on the episodes now and the last thread.

I don't think anyone has mentioned this, but why doesn't Miranda kiss properly?! She just kind of opens her mouth and waits. And then says that Joy was a great kisser and I thought, bet she doesn't think the same about you. Its distracting because she supposedly really fancies this woman.

Intimacy coordinator? I don’t think you are supposed to kiss ‘properly’ IRL I.e tongues etc when you are acting?

No need to keep reminding me of my fails 😂.

I like how Anthony has become more uncle/father figure to the kids.

I will be annoyed if they have introduced Harry's dad out of nowhere only to kill him off.

Hopefully it's not Lisa's dad either. - dying for the second time!

Did anyone notice that the bank clerk Seema was asking for the loan from is the same bank clerk that told Carrie she was an undesirable candidate for a loan when she needed money to buy her apartment back from Aiden?

Thanks for the new thread. Succession very successfully filmed a funeral scene which left us all assuming it wasn’t one of the lead characters…no spoilers just in case someone hasn’t seen…I haven’t the seen the trailer, who’s there? Miranda wouldn’t be at anyone connected to Lisa, for example.

On another note, I wish I had friends who still actually called instead of just messaging or leaving a vm, until you see them in real life. I just think nobody answers calls when at work anymore in real life, yet Carrie still phones because she doesn’t have a regular job and expects everyone to pick up whilst she’s walking around clothes shops during office hours😆

ChoccyJules · 29/06/2025 22:38

I was wondering if they have a few new writers on the team as I am enjoying this series more than the first two. Miranda is more like her old self, she lost her mind for a while back there. Not in terms of her sex life, more that she turned from a strong woman into a sap. There are funny quips and visuals. Carrie I agree was an idiot about not removing her heels but then she always was selfish and shallow. I like Dolly and Seema is finally growing on me.

ILoveBrum · 30/06/2025 01:00

Loved the latest episode!

You see everybody in the trailer dressed in black so it is most likely to be Harry‘s dad I reckon? Succession didn’t issue the trailer with the funeral in it, but they did manage to avoid spoilers during filming by ensuring that Brian Cox was seen entering the church.

edited to say, I’m still reeling from big’s death in the first episode TBH 😂

When did he die? Wasn’t he played by Billy Dee Williams of Star Wars fame? He was great at their failed anniversary dinner where Herbert’s mother was at the top of the table being spiky. Charlotte made Harry go join her didn’t she.

In series 1, Ep 2, when Lisa comes over to Charlotte's after Big has died, she tells an upset Charlotte about her grief the previous year when her dad died. Then of course he pops up in the episode you referenced in series 2, to everyone's bemusement. So that's why I said I hope he doesn't die again!

StillCreatingAName · 30/06/2025 09:16

Good point @Netaporter about Succession, not the trailer but the filming.

I don’t think it will be anyone significant (leads) because they’ve done that to Big already. Unless they’re closing the circle and all the women end up alone in New York, Carrie’s spacious townhouse playing the part of the apartment…although I’m going to take that back and say Miranda will get married to BBC journo, Steve will be at the service for closure there too.

PurplebeadedFendi · 30/06/2025 09:54

Ooh, could they be killing off Steve, I wonder? I don't think he has a role in this series otherwise - they seem to have abruptly tied up the end of his and Miranda's relationship in that 3 months between series 1 and 2, with the house being sold quickly. Miranda is not going back to him or any male, that seems certain, so Steve the character doesn't have a whole lot of use other than with regard to parenting Brady, and Miranda seems to have surrendered on that front. Are they actually divorced? If Steve dies, Miranda might have to end up taking on a grieving and resentful Brady again, just as her new romance is flourishing. The only thing is, would Lisa go to Steve's funeral?

Aww point re: Steve. I think not. Good point about LTW being there so I think that rules out either Steve or dare I say, Samantha...

They wouldn't dare kill off our Sammy J! They are having a hard enough time convincing SATC devotees to stick with AJLT as it is!

Eldermileniummam · 30/06/2025 13:35

I've just caught up. I feel like Carrie is a bit of a pain in the ass about things like her shoes but like that's it's true to old times Carrie. I thought she was a bit direct with Miranda about the food but then Miranda is a grown woman and should have realised she's staying with someone living alone and she can't just eat things especially if there's one of them. She could have bought food but it was good to see the dynamic. Charlottes a bit dull. I like the downstairs neighbour. Seema is boring as is that other character who pops up from them to time that I don't even know the name of.

Edited

Um, those of us still catching up with Succession are now over informed!

Back to AJLT. There are so many confusing elements of this show. Things just don’t make sense, so often. I need fewer ‘wait, what??’ moments so I can engage more with the storylines. And fewer random side characters that aren’t just shag/plot friend of the week.

Well sorry if you haven’t watched it, but tbf, the final season of succession was screened more than 2 years ago? 😂

I think that the AJLT stories are similar to the SATC ones..lots of people dropping in, only to re-appear at a later date. Such as Linda the bank lady (which I thought was genius and a real nod to the true fans)

'I thought she was a bit direct with Miranda about the food'

I really liked that actually. She was assertive rather than passive aggressive, which is admirable. Miranda was well out of order helping herself to Carrie's stuff

In SATC we only had the four core women plus Stanford and then Anthony, and partners of the time whose stories only existed in relation to the core characters. In AJLT there are more ‘core’ characters and they all have their own extra characters and plot lines and it’s just too much. I just don’t care about them.

Re Succession, some of us just struggle to watch all the TV they want to and are way behind! I don’t read Succession discussions if I see them coming.
