A thread to discuss the addictive and bingeable DCC series. Series 2 out today.

I noticed they also wear quite thick "American Tan" tights too. There was a scene where one of them was trimming off the waistband so it wouldn’t show over the shorts.

Not sure why I’m so enthralled, but there you have it.

Jada is just amazing, so brilliant at dance but also such a strong person, love her!

Another one who loves Jada so much! What an incredible principled strong brave person, I was so happy for her she managed to affect change and leave the team a better place as she said she wanted to do. What an accomplishment. But also I found the way she spoke about forgiveness to be genuinely inspiring. A really kind and positive leader too.

Just started watching Making the Team from season 3. They measured all the girls body fat percentages and one girl had a body fat percentage of 20% and the woman grabbed her stomach and said "you don't wanna put that body into that tiny little uniform" 😱

I've no doubt there's still as much criticism of the women's weights and figures today as there was back then, they just can't show it to a huge global audience because it wouldn't be acceptable in 2025.

@BertieBottsEveryFlavourBeans I’m on S5. I’ve seen them go all in on 2 girls for being overweight when they obviously aren’t

@EineReiseDurchDieZeit it really is isn't it?! I finish an episode then it comes up with an error message when trying to load the next episode and I have to close it down!

I completely forgot about the bootcamp style bits they do with that trainer, that would be my worst nightmare 😱 I'm only episode 4 so far, I wonder when they started doing the Thunderstruck routine and if it was this far back?

Glad it’s not just me having trouble with the app! I think we will eventually get to the dominance of the Thunderstruck routine. The choreographer Kitty Carter is brutal. I googled and it suggests she was still around in Victoria’s day, I wonder why she got binned off.

Not that it really changes much but she wasn't single at the time. We see a bit afterwards where she's talking about how her boyfriend has now dumped her for it.

I’m watching it on channel 5 now. I love the mean dance teacher, would love to see more of her.

If you Google it, her Dance studio is still operating.

I bet a lot of dance studios in Texas run programmes based on DCC prep, especially if they employ ex cheerleaders as instructors

I believe Victoria got a desist/copyright infringement letter for teaching DCC choreography to a class in New York that was filmed. Her Mum and Kelli have spectacularly fallen out

The whole situation with Dayton & her mum was v weird. Why would Judy & Kelly tell a candidate’s mum she was being cut (the mum’s gripe about last time she tried out) before the candidate herself?!

In the tv series they are definitely putting weaker dancers through. Judy’s daughter did not seem good enough to be there.

And those girls are not fat!!

Also, the Veteran cuts could be handled more sensitively. Take them out of the room quietly before the announcement somehow.

Saying in front of the whole cohort 'I'd like to see Dayton and Cooper' is just so insensitive. It doesn't 100% mean they've been cut but it's never a good thing. Maybe just have someone tap them on the shoulder as they're leaving? There must be some way to do this more discreetly.

The whole thing is very cold and brutal.
