A thread to discuss the addictive and bingeable DCC series. Series 2 out today.

In my professional life image rights are a huge deal. Im gobsmacked that these young women are not getting even a token gesture of royalties.

SequoiaTree · 20/06/2025 10:46

I wonder if they are made to sign non disclosure agreements as a story about "my Dcc hell, ostracised by the girls" would sell like hot cakes!

VagueVogue · 20/06/2025 06:55

Chandi getting ostracised for a sneaky bit of cock in the Bahamas was really sad. OK she broke the rules bringing a man back to the accommodation but she's a grown arse woman. What it was really about was damaging their infantilising i-still-sleep-with-a-teddy-bear brand.

The thing is they are held to an absurd purity standard which was made more clear in season 1, how they are allowed to position themselves in photos with men for example as well as fraternising with the football players. They know about this when they sign on and Chandi was in her sixth year.

Kelli and Judy tried their very best to hush it up and shove it under the carpet because they were being filmed and KayDianna paid the price for breaking ranks. It clearly created massive resentment among the girls that such an exception was made for Chandi.

Chandi would have been sacked if the cameras hadn’t been rolling and KayDianna was only suspended for making allusions on TikTok she chose not to go back afterwards

As a PP said, the girls are all pretty and can dance. When Kellie and Judy criticise them with tiny things like “your leg goes too far over” and the viewer watches what they mean…and the girl’s leg looks exactly like the girl’s next to her…

What qualifications or special expertise do Kellie and Judy even have? They were cheerleaders in the 80s. So what? This just leads me to believe these women love to make the girls feel bad. It’s like a giant con.

They criticise because they can. Zero merit 99% of the time.

Edited

And in the clips we see of them in their DCC days, their dancing definitely wasn’t setting the world alight.
Very poor in comparison to the expectations today.

They’d be shown the door for dancing like that.

They’re much too harsh, and act like they’re splitting the bloody atom.

When they were isolating stills of videos during matches, zooming in on the dancer’s faces, and telling the girl off…i mean, wtf??

What accommodation did she bring a man back to? It's ridiculous if they aren't allowed to sleep with men before marriage in this day and age.

She bought him back to the hotel room in the bahamas. They were all sharing rooms, that was the problem, not the fact she hooked up with a man.
The rule she violated was that she shared their location with a stranger while abroad.

ohmondew · 20/06/2025 16:36

I've just finished watching, I still can't decide if Reece is a genius or the luckiest dimwit alive. She comes across amazingly thick but I'm not sure I buy it.

MauriceTheMussel · 20/06/2025 16:59

Just clocked Chandi’s bf.

Oh, same. Not a single thought behind those eyes.

But she is totally adorable. This stripper Barbie disciple!

Thanks, not got to that bit yet so was wondering what accommodation it was in Dallas. Will watch soon

In the first series Kelli was telling Reece that Dolly Parton used old burnt match sticks as eye pencil when she was a young girl and Reece said "Didn't it hurt?" She thought they were still hot.

SequoiaTree · 20/06/2025 17:09

I think she has good people skills though as she knows the right things to say to people and is popular.

Pleaseshutthefuckup · 20/06/2025 17:12

Ah brilliant. I binge watched the first one and was pretty horrified. But really enjoyed it and couldn't stop watching.

The 2 leading women who run the show - of course it's a business but I was so uncomfortable seeing such vulnerable young women looking at them almost as surrogate mum's. Only to be loved if they perform well enough.

The shorts so short I was waiting for them to rip. The blokes who won a meet and greet back stage. A bit creepy.

The pressure is immense. I understand competitive activities like this will be. Yet their huge skill and athleticism to me is massively undermined by the fact it feels like a performance for the pleasure of men. 🤮

I'm sure I would have loved to be one of them in my youth though. Only for a short time because it's a recipe for so many body image problems/ rejection/ feeling a failure.

VagueVogue · 20/06/2025 17:42

It's always the angular faces with the strongest features that look best on the screen during performances aswell not the really pretty girls.

I'm genuinely baffled how they deal with periods in those shorts that are pure white and just knickers. And the legs are kicking up like that.

Medication to prevent/delay periods? (And to prevent them inconveniently getting pregnant)

Reece came across as naive. She seems quite sheltered compared to the other girls with multiple jobs etc.

HelenCurlyBrown · 21/06/2025 12:22

I’m a couple of episodes in. A total hate watch. I too wondered if these women have periods. Those shorts!

And the way most of them speak is driving me to distraction with ‘like’ every other word. 😡

SummerEve · 21/06/2025 12:30

The worst saying is the “in your/my head” one!

Sauvin · 21/06/2025 18:32

They all say so many words without actually saying anything.

MiniCoopers · 21/06/2025 20:04

What I find sad is how bad Judi and Kelli are at letting them down. You won’t make the team this year, we have no good reason other than you aren’t making it. They’re both such mean women and desperately protective of their jobs.

TheaBrandt1 · 21/06/2025 20:21

They encapsulate that quote about power corrupts!

TokyoSushi · 21/06/2025 21:28

I’m 2 episodes in, those poor girls, the whole process seems to be a nightmare, even harder than season 1!

MrsKateColumbo · 21/06/2025 21:37

I've seen a lot of the CMT show prior to this, im finding the netflix series a bit slow. The CMT show i think Kelli and Judy were not so careful how they came across,

I think Reece knows how to come across cute/ditzy, I think she is quite shrewd underneath.

The shorts look very well lined, they can use sanitary cups/tampons with stings cut. Although probably not great for those with chronically heavy periods. Also I think they have tights on underneath (?)

I find it strange that the women who aren't part of the jesus/southern bubble want to do it, it's such a specific thing.

MrsKateColumbo · 21/06/2025 21:39

I actually used to be a pro dancer (when everything was in black and white 🤣) and I do think this accurately portrays how dancers are treated at the bottom of the totem pole on many jobs. I always advise DD'S friends to stay clear lol

SequoiaTree · 22/06/2025 07:36

What was KayDianna supposed to have said on TikTok that was bullying/harassment?

sunnydaysfillmewithpeace · 22/06/2025 07:47

I’m watching this too and never thought I’d find something like this interesting but here I am. I think ‘marrying your first boyfriend/virgin bride’ is helpful for the DCC brand.

But I agree it’s very twisted - on one hand the girls are give makeovers to ‘glam them up’, their dance moves are all provocative hip jerking but they have to be seen as ‘squeaky clean’ in all other aspects. The scene in season 1 of the tour guide taking a group of men around their locker room was 🤢

Without offering spoilers, I’m very glad that in S2, the allegation of assault at least seemed to have been taken seriously.

Yes. The women were praised for being sweet and sexy in the auditions. Reece was a prime example of sweetness and sexiness in the first series with her put on baby voice and innocence while doing sexy moves. It's a bit creepy to want them to be childlike and sexy to appeal to men.
