A thread to discuss the addictive and bingeable DCC series. Series 2 out today.

What I didn't like was Victoria's mum being more upset about losing her connection to the DCC than she was about her daughter leaving for new York. Some of these girls are leading someone else's dream , and it's sad to watch.

JellyBeanSpring25 · 19/06/2025 23:54

Watched 4 & 5 this evening so know the final squad - won’t spoil for those who haven’t watched!

Reece stands out as a lovely and genuine girl and her faith is a joy to watch. i think people are too eager to mock Christians but its super to see someone stand out for their faith.

Gosh, I think Reece is a very pretty dimwit who believes in her particular version of gushy Christianity because it has never occurred to her to do otherwise.

TheNightingalesStarling · 20/06/2025 00:21

Happy they got their payrise. Hopefully that will mean the girls can work reasonable hours alongside cherleading instead of multiple jobs. Plus it did look like more time is always bring expected of them.

Yes that whole scene was shocking and did Tina absolutely no favours!

Yes - I can’t believe her response to the first series was to make it all about herself! Literally everyone’s main takeaway was to feel awful and concerned about Victoria and her own mother is crying about ‘losing DCC’?!

BertieBottsEveryFlavourBeans · 20/06/2025 06:20

Love the fact that we are seeing the women have conversations about just how unfair the pay is, and that they finally got a decent pay rise (even though we all know the company just did it because of the extremely bad press they got for the wages!)

I feel bad for Dayton, I think she took being cut well, I don't think DCC is her dream but it very much looks like her mother's dream. If she were my daughter I'd be telling her there's a big world outside DCC and her worth isn't just about whether she gets to wear the uniform or not.

I wonder what happened behind the scenes with Victoria and her mum when Victoria didn't come back, from a comment Kelly made about scar tissue from the Victoria situation I'm guessing Victoria's mum and Kelly and Judi had a big fall out. So happy to see Victoria is doing well in New York, she has finally realised that DCC isn't the be all and end all!

Sauvin · 20/06/2025 06:34

Watching the first series, I was amazed at how short the football season was. All those auditions, all that angst about picking and being picked and they’re cheerleaders for five months and then it starts all over again. Bonkers!

HelloCheekyCat · 20/06/2025 06:50

I think a lot of them must have family money especially if they come to Dallas from other states.
I.watched loads of the previous show and the ones who had a full time, full on job were much less likely to make the team. They were shown practising in the toilets at work, on breaks etc. It's a real shame it was going on for so long before they got the pay rise.
DH listens to a lot of country music and I quite often hear songs from the show and I love it. Id love to see a game, I bet it's electric when they first come out

VagueVogue · 20/06/2025 06:55

Chandi getting ostracised for a sneaky bit of cock in the Bahamas was really sad. OK she broke the rules bringing a man back to the accommodation but she's a grown arse woman. What it was really about was damaging their infantilising i-still-sleep-with-a-teddy-bear brand.

Honestly there is something so toxic and cloying about the mother!!!

The scenes in Victoria's house and bedroom just make me feel claustrophobic.

Her mother is just awful... there are whar3ever happened to baby jane vibes....she's derailed Victoria whole life over trying to relive her dcc vibes and maintain her dcc persona/ connection. Victoria is a reflection of her own glory...

Also I always just think there's barely anything between the women in terms is talent and beauty... they are all so talented... would it have killed kelli and judi to just give Victoria a spot knowing how it was her whole life/ would totally crush her.

Kelli and Judy need to be put into forced retirement they are awful and dont advocate for the women. They are aunt Lydia with 2lbs of make up and a push up bra.

Glad Victoria is getting away from dcc and her mother
I hope she can find her own path now she isn't suffocated and being railroaded into cheer costumes.

I also hate the fat sweaty pervert on the judging panel whose primary qualification is being a brand sponsor.

TheaBrandt1 · 20/06/2025 07:10

Watched season 1 with teen girls we were agog. The girls were so lovely polite saying “thank you ma’am” when the mean bosses had totally screwed them over.

The weird mix of religion and being massively sexual. Reece marrying the potato! A lot to process.

I can see where they're coming from. I dont believe she should be shamed for having a hook up, but the rules about disclosing their location are for the safety of all the women, and apparently she was sharing a room with a rookie and brought the man back to the shared room. That's not on and I'd be pissed off if I was the roommate.

TheaBrandt1 · 20/06/2025 07:15

I think this programme will convert many young men to evangelical Christianity!

What accommodation did she bring a man back to? It's ridiculous if they aren't allowed to sleep with men before marriage in this day and age.

It sounded like a shared hotel room or villa.

I think the girls will need Social Media training going forward. The other girl basically getting sacked for saying the wrong thing on SM highlights this

MauriceTheMussel · 20/06/2025 09:01

As a PP said, the girls are all pretty and can dance. When Kellie and Judy criticise them with tiny things like “your leg goes too far over” and the viewer watches what they mean…and the girl’s leg looks exactly like the girl’s next to her…

What qualifications or special expertise do Kellie and Judy even have? They were cheerleaders in the 80s. So what? This just leads me to believe these women love to make the girls feel bad. It’s like a giant con.

They criticise because they can. Zero merit 99% of the time.

VagueVogue · 20/06/2025 09:20

I got the impression Judy and Kelli are control freaks clinging to their glory days and refusing to relinquish control. They're both way past retirement age and judging by the massive houses they live in, they don't need the money. They have big framed portraits of themselves as cheerleaders all over their house. Big egos for whom the job is their whole sense of self.

💯

TheaBrandt1 · 20/06/2025 09:31

They encapsulate Aunt Lydia for sure

Bickybics · 20/06/2025 09:36

I bet the audition system in the 80s wasn’t as hard and they didn’t expect so much of them. And they all came from money and married money.
The girl who was the lead (sorry don’t know names) would have great person to stay and work and advocate for the girls.

MauriceTheMussel · 20/06/2025 09:39

Jada was lovely, and my god, her skin was just radiant.

I agree with the likely 80s process. And all the BS about how they paid for their own hair back then and aren’t today’s girls soooo lucky. Yeah, well, back in the 80s, you couldn’t monetise the cheerleaders the way they do today and, as one girl said in the diner, “it’s not translating [moneywise]”

100%

And they just showed up to games and did 1 practice per week or something In between.

They weren't PROFESSIONAL LEVEL DANCERS AND GYMNASTS they were just blonde with nice teeth

IhateHPSDeaneCnt · 20/06/2025 10:01

One of the women on the Real Housewives of Dallas franchise claimed she was a cheerleader and all she did was flick her hair! These women are athletes but still gets in my craw whole industry is pandering to 18 stone blokes who can run fast carrying a ball for 50 metres whilst elbowing others out of their way.

Good point about Victoria's mum. In the last series Victoria was saying she was going to continue with DCC. Maybe she was told not to continue behind the scenes or maybe the mum had a huge go at them about Victoria not being made a leader and not being supported by the other girls.
When the mum was crying about losing DCC I was thinking "but you'll still be able to go to alumni events" but maybe she had such a big falling out so can't go to them any more.
