Sorry duplicate post!

I know nothing would have changed for the rodwells in this last ep, and I wouldn’t have wanted them to get back together, but I just feel over all confused about why this was their final storyline. I feel like they had always had a pretty good marriage and there seemed no sense in this story for them. I also think holly should have something good happen to her in this reboot but she had disaster after disaster. I suppose neighbours writers wanted to end it differently this time, as last time was a happy ending for everyone, but honestly I don’t like that it didn’t end well for everyone this time. I did like the ambiguity of the street ending though.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 11/12/2025 14:46

I was delaying watching this so then it wouldn’t be the end. Then channel 5 news showed pretty much all of it and I saw this thread updated. So now I’m halfway through. I can’t get over Lucas‘s beard or Byron‘s for that matter.

Just had Paul and Karl’s speech. A perfect brand!

WhyDoesItAlways · 11/12/2025 14:52

I also thought it a bit anti climatic but they have left it absolutely wide open. They could set a reboot in 1 of 3 locations. They could bring back Paul without the kennedys or vice versa. They could get Andrew and Wendy back together or have them go their separate ways. There is any number of previous cast members who showed up today all coincidently looking to "invest" who could be written back in. And a few others who didn't show up including Amy, Andrew and Tash.

The last ending felt like a final farewell, this one felt like a hopefully see you later.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 11/12/2025 15:06

That can’t be the end?? It really confused me.

nice though that it ended with Karl Susan and Paul.

surprised no toadie.
Glad Dex turned up.

Yes did feel more hopeful.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 11/12/2025 16:29

Clints in the channel 5 Xmas film. I’ve never seen an Australian Xmas film.

MiddleClassProblem · 11/12/2025 16:58

I like that it’s completely open and it feels like the production team were talking to us saying they are fighting for it, giving 3 options of how it could be.

I like the H&A reference. I didn’t get why we had Wendy bump into Andrew and then it immediately just cut to the dance montage more. It felt like it was going to be something so my guess is that sequence was removed.

I love Levi so nice he was back. Weird Toadie wasn’t there when he has turned up for so many random things. It feels very hopeful. Very different to last time.

I disagree with Andrew and Wendy having a good marriage until the last plot because it has felt like they have been target over the last year with Wendy going back to school and what’s his face fancying her, the job away from the area stuff, even the JJ stuff. They seemed relentless with it a bit like Holly has had relentless plots but hers for the whole reboot.

The oddest part is that the shared house residents were just there and not really concerned about their futures.

I have a mixture of feelings after watching the last episode, part of me feels like there's something up their sleeves and it'll be back again in a year or two. I'm glad Andrew and Wendy didn't get back together and I'm happy that Krista and Nicolette are having their babies, I feel like it was somewhat poorly timed with Holly... Which brings me to the partying, people grieve differently but would Holly really have bounced back so quickly after such a devastating loss?

I missed the home and away reference.

Yes agree it felt like they are still hoping.

When they were talking about another community outside Sydney, I’m fairly sure that was about Summer Bay or a major coincidence.

I feel like Home & Away needs to do some sort of primer for neighbours refugees. Get us caught up so we can switch over. (I know some people watch both).

Is Alf still around?

Yes Alf, Marilyn, Roo still there. Leah Patterson too. They don’t bring back old characters as well as Neighbours does.

lots of new characters. Does some stories really well.

Ah yes!

channel 5 news keep saying it’s ending for good!

Yeknom · 11/12/2025 18:15

Ahh I missed the H&A reference too! Thanks for explaining!

EconomyClassRockstar · 11/12/2025 18:51

I kind of loved it. I cried at the closing scene but I liked its potential for a comeback and I liked the reference to the fact they’ve been here before. I do sadly think that’s the end though. I definitely didn’t cry as much as the last “final ever” Neighbours. God, I was a right mess through that!

Stefan Dennis’ wife did a lovely post on Instagram celebrating him and the show.

EBearhug · 11/12/2025 22:53

I think Wendy acknowledged that, too, that there were a lot of cracks.

There was all that stuff with the bloke on her uni course.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 11/12/2025 23:21

That was the start wasn’t it? The student that liked her.

ILoveBrum · 11/12/2025 23:45

Before the reboot, their marriage wasn’t great either as Wendy kept doing things that upset Andrew or he’d have to sort out / smooth over with Wendy’s busybody antics (often relating to his job).

Wendy was more likeable in the new Neighbours but previously I had wanted Andrew to dump her as she kept messing with his career.

That doesn’t mean I wanted him to cheat with Holly, but I have never thought their marriage was ever great.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 12/12/2025 08:35

I still can’t bring myself to watch the last episode. Holly having a miscarriage and Krista getting pregnant is one of the worst plot twists I’ve ever seen. Terrible.

Bit confused - is Nicolette having a baby?

Both beards were terrible, but I've seen Lucas's before, so I was more wtf about Byron's today! It was dreadful. Like weird orange cotton wool stuck on in patches Grin

He was sporting Benny from Abba

yes Lucas’s beard was horrid

Not yet. But she has a donor.

She mentioned to Kerri in the final episode that she has a donor on standby for when she wanted it.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 14/12/2025 10:03

I’ve watched the final episode. I didn’t see much of the last year before the last final episode, so I can’t really compare the two. I did weep a bit at the last few episodes, but I rather liked the very last scene - at least there were no bulldozers on Ramsay Street!
Could someone tell me where the last few scenes, at the party, were set? I didn’t recognize either the Waterhole or the V bar. Thank you.
