Although Anne Haddy was only 55, I think Helen is supposed to be a bit older. But also, by 55, Anne has already had a heart attack, heart surgery twice, and cancer, that must have taken a big toll on her physically.
I’m shocked to discover I am also older than 1980s Madge! 1980s hairstyles did women no favours.

They really like to rush relationships on early Ramsay St, don’t they!
Last week we had Scott declaring love for Kim, having only been on two dates.
Today we had Jim telling Anna he’s in love with her when they have only spent 5 minutes together (ok, perhaps they’ve met already), as well as a complete stranger proposing marriage to Julie on their first date!

I’ve seen a photo of Kylie Flinker very recently as she is now, she is due to join the studio closing down event. I don’t know her ethnicity but she definitely has an olive skin appearance, perhaps Mediterranean heritage.

Can't believe Jim and Anna are having an engagement party already and Des is trying it on with Daphne, just days after being stood up by his previous fiancee!!

I think the times are pretty fluid. The Ramsay boys spent time in hospital, went camping, started diving… so it seems weeks have passed since the bank robbery let alone Des’ stag night,

The dramatic music made me laugh when Jim told Julie to move out!

are there only 4 occupied houses? Robinson’s, Ramseys, Kim Taylor’s family and Des/ Daphne’s?

I don’t think the Taylors were on Ramsay street. There is the busybody woman who accosted Des and Daphne today and the one who is escaping her husband (don’t think they are one and same).

Mrs armitage? The one who keeps escaping her abusive husband?
and the other woman who was at the party saying things to Julie. But we’ve not seen inside their houses. I think that’s my favourite part seeing how the houses have changed. That desk in the Robinsons lasted (I think) several families.

Poor Gino. He’s still building Anna a house while she’s off having an engagement party to someone she met a week ago.

What was sprayed on the garage in today’s second episode? I was watching on a small screen and couldn’t read it.

I love how the episodes end on a whim rather than a cliffhanger! Like today, “Des, eat your toast”, end 😂

I wonder if Max was originally supposed to be how he is. It would have been better if he was more like Jim, but harsher. As it is, he’s just oafish and aggressive. Him and Maria are not a good match at all. I read that one of the reasons the actor left fairly soon was because he found it difficult to psyche himself up into the character.

There does seem a heavy focus on gossiping meddling judgemental women!

I’m looking forward to the soon arrival of Madge and also Des and Daphne getting together.

Max and Julie are being presented really badly, aren't they? I wonder if they are setting the scene for Danny not to be his son? (I didn't watch at this point in the 80s and don't really remember Danny or original Scott.)

I dont remember this either but have assumed Danny's not his son. Shane said something about Maria leaving them when he was young, and then coming back.

I didnt start watching until January 1988 when Micheal Grade engineered a 5.35pm repeat on weeknights. Apparently his daughter asked him to do it as there were loads of kids late back to school because of watching the lunchtime showing and/or not going back to school in the afternoon at all
