Poor Craig met his maker after Mick hurt him bad
He was a bit boring, but I can't help but feel sad
Mick's wife Lou left him, can't blame her quite frankly
He's abusive and repugnant inside and out, and quite manky

Mick wants to see Kit as he knows he slept with Lou
He's got Bernie now, but what is he going to to do?
Mick's nasty little son is out of the STC
Will he be as bad as Mick, I guess we'll have to wait and see

Debbie's quite ill, she's dumped Ronnie and he's very sad
Kevin's still battling cancer, and he's getting quite bad
Glenda's the new landady of the pub now, and Jenny and Daisy are gone
And Julie has died very suddenly, I hoped she'd go on and on.

(I'm sure there's some more things going on right now, but I've only just woken up after a rough night's sleep.) 😆

I guess every soap has to have a regular village idiot

HurdyGurdy19 · 22/05/2025 12:55

SabreIsMyFave · 22/05/2025 11:43

Yeah that was odd that Tim was just allowed to take those kids! And I have no idea where Brody is! Confused

Isn't Brody in the cells at Weatherfield police station, sobering up, before Kit interviews him (for shoplifting in Dev's shop?)

Been there quite a while now 😂

Would a detective be assigned to interview someone after a D&D arrest especially when it's likely to be his son or would it be a uniformed officer that does the interview

Clawdy · 22/05/2025 13:00

Checking in, just spotted this new thread.

MonickerMonica · 22/05/2025 13:04

@Illjusthavethebreadsticks

Don't like saying this but going to anyway. Soaps have to have a village idiot character. Sam in Emmerdale and Kirk in Corrie. I don't watch any other soaps and haven't for years but suspect the dopey character idea runs through most of them. I have heard Sam actor from Emmerdale in his normal mode and he's rather posh.

HaddyAbrams · 22/05/2025 13:12

Just checking in. Thanks for the new thread.

Why Craig and not Kirk ! He adds nothing

I agree. Kirk needs axing now. He's a terrible character. The village idiot. An utter buffoon. I know every soap has one (as @MonickerMonica said,) but he just doesn't bring a single thing to the show (as you said..)

bizzey · 22/05/2025 14:06

I do like though how they all tolerate Kirk !

I mean. ..no one has ever actually turned around to home and said ..
Mate. You are talking bollocks again ...just shut up !!

They just quietly eye roll and pretend it is all a perfectly normal way of having a conversation !!

bizzey · 22/05/2025 14:08

Though he does have that clever way of saying something...that is so stupid...that you actually doubt yourself for thinking it might be stupid in the first place 😂😂

SabreIsMyFave · 22/05/2025 14:27

Just quoting this from the last thread (it was post No. 1000 so I couldn't answer on there,. Grin)

@CorporaINobbyNobbs · Today 14:06

The women seem to do better post Corrie don’t they? Not all of them but a few are big stars (Karen, Tina, Raquel, Katherine) and people like Shelley have had lots of work since. Whereas Liam Connor is the only bloke I can think of that was successful(ish) afterwards.

I was thinking exactly the same.. I can't think of any men who had a successful career post Corrie (apart from Liam/Rob James Collier, as you said,) but quite a few of the women did. (I mean, there may be a few men, but there are far more women I think. Especially from the past 35-40 years/since the mid 1980s...)

Natalie (Denise Welch,) Zoe (Joanne Frogatt,) Shelley (Sally Lindsay,) Rebecca (Jill Halfpenny,) Frankie (Deb Stephenson, she went on to be a comedian and impressionist,) Raquel (Sarah Lancashire,) Sharon (Tracie Bennett - successful theatre career,) Becky (Katherine Kelly,) Then of course Karen (Suranne Jones,) and Tina (Michelle Keegan,) and Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh,) and Eva (Catherine Tyldesley.) Also Kelly (played by Millie Gibson) went on to star in Doctor Who.

Toyah (Georgia Taylor) left in 2003 after about 6 years, and was in almost 200 episodes of Casualty, (then she returned to Corrie in 2016.) So she had a career after leaving Corrie too.

Then there's Anne Reid who played Valerie Barlow, but many people won't remember her in Corrie as she was in it in the 1960s.

Iwantacampervan · 22/05/2025 14:40

Arthur Lowe was in Corrie for 5 years in the 1960s and Bradley Walsh is in Classic Corrie now.

Lorrymum · 22/05/2025 14:44

I don't think I can stand Brody and his one man/boy Oasis impersonation returning to the street!

eggandonion · 22/05/2025 15:11

Isn't Craig on classic a musical actor now?
And Rosie Webster is a celebrity. Whatever that means.

Gemmawemma9 · 22/05/2025 16:54

Am I the only one who’s not sad to see Craig go? Seems a nice guy IRL but terrible actor, boring storylines and totally unbelievable as a cop! Found him really irritating to watch. This mick/kit storyline is playing out brilliantly, craig is collateral damage and im not really sorry to see him go.

RobertaFirmino · 22/05/2025 18:10

Given that Craigeh died in active service, wouldn't he get a police funeral, all the works and a plaque?

bizzey · 22/05/2025 18:16

That's what I was saying earlier..
I really hope so .

MonickerMonica · 22/05/2025 18:27

To use the excuse for sacking Craig that there was nowhere for his character to go is a load of bolloxyrubbish as they could have ramped up his police work and eventually made him a brilliant cop.. That idea is no more unbelievable than some of the other (and current!) madcap and airy-fairy storylines and characters we've been suffering these last few years.

Totally this!
Gutted they have killed RCraigy off
He was just getting on with his career despite being coddled by his Mum all those years.
No doubt Mick will go to jail and KitnLou will get it on again 🙄

suburburban · 22/05/2025 19:17

Is Lisa now Kit’s boss because last time we had the police station nonsense with the Joel story she seemed more like his subordinate

RachelRosing · 22/05/2025 19:25

Anne Reid played Valarie Barlow and was electrocuted by a dodgy hairdryer...watching her now in Year's and Year's on Netflix.

FlibbertyGibbitt · 22/05/2025 19:41

How small is David ? He was almost on tip toes looking out of the security thing on the flat door !

I do feel the same although also felt quite sad when Craig died! I can't imagine the actor will have much of an acting career post Corrie.

As an aside, I was hopeful that Faye would do well after winning Strictly but not seen her on anything since!

She’s always been his boss but Kit is very disrespectful towards her and for some unknown reason, she totally lets him away with it.

PrincessScarlett · 22/05/2025 21:20

Men who had success after Corrie continued.

Charlie killed by Tracey Barlow went on to star in Emmerdale.
The guy who played Izzy's dad and was with Gary's mum has been in absolutely loads of TV dramas.
Psycho John Sugden currently in Emmerdale was murdered by Pat Phelan.
Ryan Thomas who played Jason Grimshaw has also had a hugely successful TV career following his time on Celebrity Big Brother where that evil cow Roxanne Pallet falsely accused him of hitting her.

eggandonion · 22/05/2025 22:17

Midsummer Murders was always handy for post soap work.

nildesparandum · 22/05/2025 22:59

Re. Kirk.
Is he supposed to be Maria's brother?.Correct me if wrong.
I think Corrie writers have forgotten.
