Poor Craig met his maker after Mick hurt him bad
He was a bit boring, but I can't help but feel sad
Mick's wife Lou left him, can't blame her quite frankly
He's abusive and repugnant inside and out, and quite manky

Mick wants to see Kit as he knows he slept with Lou
He's got Bernie now, but what is he going to to do?
Mick's nasty little son is out of the STC
Will he be as bad as Mick, I guess we'll have to wait and see

Debbie's quite ill, she's dumped Ronnie and he's very sad
Kevin's still battling cancer, and he's getting quite bad
Glenda's the new landady of the pub now, and Jenny and Daisy are gone
And Julie has died very suddenly, I hoped she'd go on and on.

(I'm sure there's some more things going on right now, but I've only just woken up after a rough night's sleep.) 😆

I remember reading and just checked again about Lynne Perrie. She was sacked from Corrie for having cosmetic surgery without consulting the bosses first. Rules must have changed/relaxed as the actresses now show only too obviously.

Yes, wasn’t Lynne Perry sacked for having cosmetic surgery

Yes she was. Pic 1 was her before (she looked fine here.)

Then the second 2 pics are post 'face lift.' All bloated.

Gosh yes, I’d forgotten about that! Ivy?

I think they must have relaxed the rules a bit now. Ivy did look very odd at the time, as no-one else had had anything done. (Not at the time I don't think...) Late 1990s I think it was...

Abi, Carla, Swain, Sarah - they’re all having a bit too much work. Which is a shame as they were all really attractive, and they’re losing the character in their face. I used to think Carla was absolutely beautiful ten years ago. Now she just looks strange to me.

I think you have hit the nail on the head.

All this work does take character out of a face and for an actor that is not a good thing.

It was not the sort of thing you would often see in a back street of a northern city at the time. I believe Lynne had a reputation for being 'difficult' too

Although even though it is more common now, there are rather a lot in one street.

Yeah exactly. Wasn't common at all then. I heard that about Lynne too. Bit fiery. Not too unlike Ivy! 😬

Exactly. Remeber Jennifer Grey from Dirty Dancing. Very cute girl in the movie, but decided she needed a nose job. (After it.) All it succeeded in doing was making her look like every other pretty girl in Hollywood. Completely changed the way she looked. I don't think she got much work after that. Mindy in 'Friends' is the only thing I've ever seen her in - and a budget Hallmark Christmas movie.

(I love Christmas movies!)

Just gotta keep adding more bad lads in to Corrie. 🙄 Honestly just feck off with this shite Corrie-makers. I feel like I am watching a combination of The Bill and frikkin' Hollyoaks! I am getting REEEEEEEEALLLY close to bailing on Corrie. Nearly 50 years I've been watching, and it's getting on my tits now. George and Glenda and Sally and Tim seem to be the only ones holding it together right now. Even Mary who was quirky and funny, is just annoying and daft now!

Late to this thread but like you I have been watching since a child so 50 years and I have finally bitten the bullet and stopped watching for 5 weeks now, I can’t bear the demise, silly as it sounds it actually makes me really sad, Corrie and the characters were like a dear old friends but it’s no longer what it what was and watching it now is torturous, sad times.

Fatrosrhun · 14/07/2025 12:38

I can’t honestly say I have thought it was particularly great quality for decades! I stopped watching in the 2000s because I thought it was poor. Then started watching again when Hayley died, and got sucked in.

That's how I feel, but I haven't stopped watching yet. Giving it another half a year or so. Like you, it makes me sad that it's gone all crime ridden, and not the Corrie we all know and love, and I also feel sad at the thought of never watching it again, as it's like a family member! Takes me back to a simpler time, and reminds me of my mum and dad. They both loved it. 😍

That's happened to me a couple of times in the past 2 decades. Thought it got a bit 'meh' in the mid-late noughties, and I might give it up, and then it picked up for a few years. Then it went downhill a bit again (maybe mid 2010s) for half a year maybe, and I was teetering on the edge again, and then it picked up again and I started to enjoy it again!

Hopefully this will happen again. Grin

Same for me, used to watch it with my dear old mum. I will keep an eye on these threads to see if it improves but I don’t hold out much hope sadly.

I watch as there still long running characters that have developed over decades and I love but the modern plots forsake this sort of development for short term sensationalism so sooner or later I will stop. Even worse is when stupid plots ruin characters that have been around for decades. I know Jenny took a long break but she is still part of the show's history. The stuff about her robbing Carla has spoilt her character.

I agree. I really liked Jenny - I wonder if she'll be back? I mean I don't dislike her now. But I wish they hadn't had her stealing Carla'that money.

Agree that Jenny has been turned into a really nasty character stealing from Carla and how she treated Daisy was awful. I know Daisy wasn't innocent either but I really thought she deserved her ending of ripping Jenny off after the things Jenny did.

Jenny 5 years ago was the heart of the show being landlady.

Fatrosrhun · 30/07/2025 14:11

Wasn’t Jenny originally a pretty nasty character?

I didn't get the point of the life drawing class for Swarla, unless it was for the old trope of "let's have them dab paint over each other, it's so cute and will make them look more of a couple". It isnt and it didn't. All the flowers and greenery outside their new house were fake as well!

Yes whole thing just annoying

where does Aaliyah live now

love the way Swain can suddenly take the afternoon off work, usually you give notice don’t you?

It was not a patch on Abi and Debbie who both produced quite magnificent paintings at their art class.

zanahoria · 12/08/2025 07:20

Good to have the Kabin back. It is like a time warp in there, they still sell Cliff Richard CDs.

FeltCarrot · 12/08/2025 07:23

Haven’t watched last nights episode yet, but I’m assuming Swarla have moved into Alya’s house. How have they managed that in such a short space of time, can only be a couple of weeks ago that Debbie was offering £30k over the asking price!
