Carrying the Brownie flag on songs of praise in the 70s

In the crowd at Lords cricket ground in the 80s. I spotted myself by the garish jumper I was wearing. No-one else would have known it was me.

I was on the local news after they filmed at the blood donor session I was at, during a really snowy spell. I was interviewed about why I felt it was important to attend to donate despite the bad weather.

Ken Barlow was my teacher at Weatherfield High Tracy and the twins time so was on Corrie a few times.

Proper headteacher refused to let them film Tracy wearing a denim jacket even though they said they’d already filmed scenes on set wearing them. Outside shoots cost so much the agreed to lose the jacket

In the audience for a popular, long running daytime TV show. I had just graduated university and moved to London. Super exciting time but I was absolutely broke so this was one of the ‘free’ things I did. It was a joy. 😊

Closing Oval tube station during a train operator strike over something or nothing 20 years ago. It was ITV London news.

On the six o'clock news about 30 years ago, in a scruffy old jumper with unbrushed hair, talking about some research I had had nothing to do with, because the person they were supposed to be interviewing, who was all dressed up with her hair and makeup done, had a panic attack and ran out of the building, and I happened to answer the phone in the postgrad office when her boss rang to look for someone else to do it. 'Could you pop down to the lab for a minute please?' 'OK...' <Full BBC film crew waiting> 'Right, this was the study we ran, this was what we found...go!' 😱 Bloody mortifying. I refused to watch it at the time, but it was shown on some random clip show a few years back and I got all these messages saying 'You're on the telly!!' 😳

I was going to be interviewed on The Hit Man and Her.
I was so pale, shot into town, lady I knew on a Clarins counter said try this new tan.
Bear in mind it was 1990 way before fake tan was a big thing.
I put it on, it had a bronzed colour and a bit of glimmer but not much of a tan. In the end I put the whole bottle on in layers. I was sort of a very pale orange.
I had NO idea it developed over time.
You can guess the rest - by 2 am I was like Ross from Friends. Burnt Sienna orange which made my teeth look false.
I had told everyone I was on it, they all watched it and thought it was hysterical.
Got to say, though, once I realised how to apply the stuff that tan became my best friend.
Edited to add: also been an extra on Corrie, Hollyoaks and Brookside back in the day. Absolutely loved it, had a great time, the money came in handy and you’d wait for your episodes usually to see the back of your head in a pub. Hollyoaks and Brookside were filmed in the same place - very confusing - you’d come out of a corridor in Hollyoaks and be in the back of Mick’s Pizza Parlour. And Corrie was filmed next to Jeremy Kyle, so you’d walk off a set and someone would run past you being chased by one of Jezza’s team. Sat in the audience a few times - wild times they were!
