Fans of the medical thriller series Malpractice (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/malpractice-season-2-release-date/) have been eagerly awaiting news on when the new season

Been a 2year wait

Season 2 will follow Dr James Ford, played by Those About to Die (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/those-about-to-die-review/)'s Tom Hughes.

He finds himself under investigation after getting himself "caught between an anxious new mother’s postnatal check-up and the sectioning of a psychotic patient" in a North Yorkshire hospital, according to the show's synopsis.

The synopsis also ask
s: "Is Dr Ford a doctor with a God complex, or a victim himself?"

This season of the ITV drama will welcome a near-completely new cast, (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/malpractice-season-2-itv-cast-confirmed-newsupdate/) including Selin Hizli (Am I Being Unreasonable?) and Zoë Telford (Red Eye).

Other new additions to the ensemble are Hannah McClean (Blue Lights) and Seraphina Beh (Top Boy) amongst a whole host of new faces.

However, some fan favourites are set to return, with Norma Callahan (Helen Behan) and George Adjei (Jordan Kouamé) confirmed to reprise their roles as part of the Medical Investigation Unit for another season.

The announcement came from ITV, who said of the new series ahead of its release: "As George and Norma uncover a hospital seemingly at war with itself, to what lengths will James go to preserve his position?

"Can the MIU uncover the truth of what happened despite fierce opposition from all sides?"

Last one tomorrow,? Not sure how it's all going to pan out really. It's all massively unravelling, but MIU appear oblivious.

howcanitbetrue · 11/05/2025 22:04

I think Kate and Dr Hernandez are going to be crucial .

Poor Dr Ford, what ever he touches turns to shit

Sofia didn't argue back as it's suddenly dawned on her that she's being set up just like Maria and James so she's going to dig up some evidence to prove what a shit show management are. Particularly when she finds out Maria is dead.

I think Kate did actually care about James hence the tears. But not enough to save her own skin over his. The two boss doctors are absolute shits for blackmailing her like that. They obviously have dirt on people so use it against them to cover up all the negligence.

Hannah McLean (Rosie) is an excellent actress. She can go from sympathetic/fragile to scaring the shit out of you in a heart beat.

I'm finding this really stressful too. Absolutely horrifying on the poor women giving birth and the whistle blowers.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/05/2025 21:31

And this really happens. We would be fools to think it didn’t

the top protect theirselves

felt sorry for Sophia. She lost her job but helped them.... Etc

Agree

I did feel a bit like I wanted more, especially as we'd gone through some traumatic episodes!

PrincessScarlett · 12/05/2025 23:05

I think I was just so relieved that the MIU took down Eric in spectacular fashion after all the trauma. He was one nasty shit.

I'm sure Sophia was actually pleased to get the hell out of such a toxic place. You could see the toll it had on her mentally. She will be much happier.

Loved James walking straight passed back stabbing Kate. There were real parallels between Kate and Sophia in that Sophia actually had the guts to do something about it rather than further her own career/look out for number one.

I really enjoyed this despite the harrowing scenes. I thought it was much better than the first one.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/05/2025 23:06

Yes. Those poor mums. And I know sadly births can go wrong and child will need support all their life

OP posts:
PrincessScarlett · 13/05/2025 07:04

My mum used to work on the baby unit at her local hospital and she saw a hell of a lot of births that had gone wrong due to staff error and budget cuts.

I know it's an awful thing to say but I'm so glad I've had my kids already. Watching this and about to start a family would absolutely scare the shit out of me giving birth.

Clawdy · 13/05/2025 07:56

Harrowing but really enjoyed this series. Liked the ending too, just right.

PrincessScarlett · 13/05/2025 11:16

Yes agree that the ending was just right. Which is unusual for most TV dramas.

howcanitbetrue · 13/05/2025 14:48

Although I was happy the main twat had his comeuppance, what happened to the OB consultant. He was as bad, and the whole trust board where culpable, and the woman who was maybe HR or marketing (can't remember!) never mind the financial irregularities what about the health care violations and cognitive dissonance and bullying that went on. Seemed like largely the women were scapegoats and the men escaped (bar the one bloke)
